The story of our lives...

Bump

I know this issue was resolved over 8 months ago, but I just installed SAM 6.2 and imported the AppInsight for SQL on my SQL server. Unfortunately I cannot, for the life of me, find where to unmanage the databases. I've been looking for the "Database Details" view as you listed above but I don't know where to find it.
-
Done! Hopefully you get some good feedback from this. It has been a "sticky" issue in the past trying to explain the difference between a "green & red" dot to management.
-
As aLTeReGo mentioned, go int the specific application/component and select Edit. From there, navigate to the component you don't want to monitor. As an example, I pulled up the "Page Read/sec" counter. Click on the "Override Template" button on the right and then delete the values located in the Warning and Critical…

Thanks for the quick response. I feel a lot better with your response, because that was exactly what I was doing. The issue for me to now troubleshoot is whyI am receiving this error for the majority of my databases. Thanks. .

I've seen this before, and made me laugh. I've used this at department and management meetings to "help" people understand the why technical expertise should be consulted before tackling major projects.
-
Perfect workaround! That resolved the issue immediately and gave me access to the databases and metrics! Thanks for help and support on this; you have been a life saver!
-
Excellent info! I would add that testing a SW product shouldn't automatically trigger a sales rep bombarding you with calls and emails. I don't needs the sales pitch upfront; what I need is technical knowledge and expertise to guide me if this is the best product or not. Once its been decided that we need the product, then…

Customer: Why did you turn off my Internet?!?!?! Me: I'm sorry ma'am. I don't have all the facts. What and when did this happen? Customer: JUST NOW! Why did you turn off my Internet?!?! Me: Ma'am, my system is saying you have an Internet connection. Actually, you are using Facebook on an iPad. Customer: Not that! My…

I mainly utilize SolarWinds for server health and operation via SAM. It has been a great tool for performing trend analysis and determining which applications and processes utilize the most resources. We've been testing the NPM & NTM modules for our Cisco & Calix gear. We don't see any issue with our switches, routers, and…

Now called SwatchDog, I had completely forgot about that guy! I used it to monitor some logs on an REHL server to ensure the jobs for a database were running correctly. I don't think I've used that in nearly 6 years... Good call!

I opened a support ticket. I've placed both AppInsight for SQL monitors on my 2014 and 2008 SQL servers into debug mode. I ran the Orion Diagnostic tool and uploaded the ZIP file so that the tech and SQL engineer could analyze the issues going on. They found it very odd that the 2008 SQL server had all the correct…
-
In the end, the SolarWinds engineers could not resolve the issue and came to the conclusion that it was a Microsoft/SQL Server issue. It took longer than I cared for, but I created backups of every database and configuration file I had on the servers. From there, I ran the Repair option and it successfully restored the…

Thanks for the thread. I installed Cumulative Update 7 and rebooted the server with no success of the counters being installed.
-
I'm running SQL Server 2014 Standard (64-bit), version 12.0.2254.0 on Windows Sever 2012 R2 Standard (64-bit), version 6.3.9600. There is only a single instance of SQL running on that server..
-
I have. With all the changes and attempted fixes, I ran it again with the following results: When I go into AppInsight for SQL on that particular database instance, it still shows no performance counters found.
-
Daniel, I went into the console to find the counters and came up with a suprising result: the counters aren't there. I got a ticket in but I have no clue what happened to them.
-
I haven't renamed the AppInisght template, or any template for that matter. And as for the SSAS monitor, I loaded that because it provided some counters for me to track, instead of none at all.
-
I did everything on both server based on the thread suggested, including removing and reloading the counters. The only difference I can see at this point is that one server is running SQL 2012 and the other is running SQL 2014. For the time being I've removed the AppInsight for SQL monitor and loaded SQL Server 2012…

Thanks for all the help so far. I'll look at what has been done on that thread and backtrack my steps.
-
I completed the steps without any success. I verified my instance name and ensured I had all the proper services running afterwards, including a forced WMI synchronization using winmgmt /resyncperfctr "PID" where PID is the Process ID of the WinPriv.exe.

I deleted the views and ran the Configuration Wizard, which ran successfully with the exception of this error: However, I was able to pull up the MSSSQLSERVER Application Monitor! My new issue to resolve is that none of my performance counters are loading: Thanks for the help so far!
-
I'll go into Manage Views and remove the "AppInsight for SQL - Summary" view(s) and "AppInsight for SQL Queries" view(s) and re-run the Configuration Wizard to restore them back to default as my first choice. If that doesn't work I'll open a support ticket.
-
I'm saving that option as a last resort, simply due to the amount of time spent configuring the 300+ nodes that I have. I have run the Configuration Wizard with no success. I have just put in a trouble ticket and am hoping that a complete rebuild isn't the route I go.

I got this reply yesterday: 23 Jun 2015 06:54:00 Author: Customer Support Recipient: SW22081667 Liguria Foods : Izzy Gomez (161958) Izzy,Thank you for your patience. From provided diagnostics we can see that SQL server monitored by application 124 is not returning any values for performance counters. It does not throw any…

The resolution is on going. I have a trouble ticket in with SolarWinds (being reviewed by product engineers) and I have online session with Microsoft Support this afternoon. Apparently certain versions of SQL are notorious for having counters mysteriously disappear and require reloading. As soon as I obtain a resolution I…
