Mine behaved rather odd as well. I had to tab between fields and then just press enter with my final answer and it was accepted. Hope that helps.

So yesterday was a gov't holiday (3 day weekend!). So today I am trying to work on this weeks questions. I have tried the video link for Monday's question several times, but it never brings up the video that is mentioned in the question.

Here is how I fixed my issue. I logged completely out of thwack in firefox. Loaded chrome, loaded thwack, clicked on "view poll" and the system updated at that point and gave me credit! Odd...

Spoke too soon. Just went back into the question and it behaved as if I had not answered it, so I answered it again. This time it appears to have "stuck".

Personally, I would block SMB at the perimeter of the network via a firewall ACL. SMB traffic should never traverse your perimeter (in either direction).
