very helpful blog! just a quick question btw, would opening 100 ports be enough if we monitor around 20+ servers? -ian

Very well noted aLTeReGo. Thank you very much!!!

Hi aLTeReGo, Indeed. I am thinking the same thing..that this would be more one Glassfish/JVM side and not SolarWinds. GlassFish/JVM only supports SNMPv2 in their built-in configuration. Do you have any idea on how SNMPv3 would be enabled in JVM/GlassFish? Br, Ian Pagaduan

Hi Zenni, Thanks for the kind effort. Yes, i've done this and details are: (NPM SL100 + SAM AL150) Nodes: 117/250 (Monitored/Allowed) Volume: 30/250 (Monitored/Allowed) Interface: 254/100 (Monitored/Allowed) Still, no notification on top bulletin that I already hit the 'threshold' specifically for interface. Nodes are all…

Hi aLTeReGo, Appreciate the effort in doing the illustration. I've done what you've instructed here's my findings: 1. SNMP walk to my GlassFish server using SNMPv2 (not my default polling method) - was okay. 1000+ OIDS were found and OIDs of component (total heap used etc were present.) 2. SNMP walk to my GlassFish server…

Hi Zenny, Been a long time..how were you? hope you're doing well.. Still, no banner to notify me and no such grey icon on nodes to tell that I already exceeded the license..seems to be weird. But I did took note of what you've said that certain nodes/interfaces would not be monitored..and yes it did happen. I extracted an…

Hi Zennifer, we're running a trial at first, then we activated the license. About the 'threshold', you mean if we already exceeded our license? I don't see any notifications anywhere in the homepage. Nodes don't have 'grey box' on the green dot of the node. This seems to be weird. -Ian

Hi Userunnown, I know that we're currently over our license and we're wondering about the consequences. -Ian

Hi Richard, Thank you for your prompt response. Yeah i was able to find this post recently since we were having trouble with the HTTP POST method. We have tried doing what was stated in REST - Request Tracker Wiki. During our test, we didn't use any variables yet to simplify the process first and to verify that a ticket…

Hi aLTeReGo, Thanks for your response. I'm afraid I'm a bit lost with your words. Yes, the node was already responding to SNMPv3. I understand that the port being used with this is port 161. But for the Component Monitor, the default port was 1161. Component monitor's description was to have SNMP configured in OS level…

Hi Zennifer, Alright. Please let me know the results. Thank you very much in advance!! -Ian

Hi Zennifer, many thanks for your prompt response. I see no notification in the banner at the top of orion as of this moment. Would it take some time (ex: after 30 days trial has expired) before i see any notification? -Ian

Hi Holewink! We were having issues with AIX 7.1. We configured SNMPv3 on the server using IBM 7.1 guide. The node is responding to snmp but when doing "list resources", we can't see any CPU/MEMORY/DISK/VOLUMS etc as well.. only ping via ICMD or SNMP. Can you help us with this? Br, Ian

Hi RichardLetts! 1. May I know what is the URL you used in order for this to work? 2. What specific script we need to enter in the BODY? -- I mean, what's with "KEY: Node Down ..." ? We are trying to integrate Solarwinds to Request tracker (ticketing tool) via HTTP POST and can't seem to make it work... Br, Ian

Hi jim.bingen, Great! works fine with me. Just an additional question, on what frequency does the table being updated? is the customized list being updated for like ex: every 1 min? Also, on which part will the: WHERE (AlertActive.Acknowledged is Null OR AlertActive.Acknowledged = 'False') will be added? Br, Ian

Hi Jim, I happen to pass your thread when I'm looking for alerts customization view. I can see that this thread was helpful to other fellow thwackers. But apologies for my ignorance, as I'm not that SQL geek guy. My question is this: Is it possible to do a custom view wherein acknowledged, cleared, and active alerts are…

Hi chrisby/ aLTeReGo May I ask on what possible reason the test failed with uknown status timeout? My SNMPv3 is working well and responding to the node. Maybe you can help us. Regards, Ian
