  • Well, that will be a hard one unless you are interconnected via VPN or MPLS connection - which is ideal if you have also multiple site. Using port base may not work as each Server like SQL will require similar ports to connect as well like the NTA flow storage. The only best I can think of here is VPN connection or MPLS…
  • As of the moment, I have not seen any support on VMware NSX reference to NPM. It will be a good idea to submit it as a Feature request. Network Performance Monitor Feature Requests

  • NPM uses this for topology: SolarWinds Knowledge Base :: What object IDs (OIDs) does the Orion Platform poll for network topology information? What … run an snmpwalk to your device and check if the OIDs are there.
  • yes, when you add an IP and it is detected on the database, you can only place that node/device on a different polling engine
  • not possible at the moment. I suggest to post it as a feature request. http://thwack.solarwinds.com/community/feature-request_tht
  • Nope, this is a known issue (bug) on NPM 11.5.2 version. After upgrading to the said version, all Custom object resource and Multiple Object Resource - EDIT button will disappear. As I heard, this should be address on the next patch - Hotfix 5.
  • Yes it is supported. See this link at page 31 and 32: https://support.solarwinds.com/@api/deki/files/9966/NetFlowAdministratorGuide.pdf
  • make sure the credential set on the NPM to poll WMI has full rights on the windows server. To troubleshoot, you wbemtest from the Orion server and use it to check if the credentials you are using is has sufficient rights to poll for CPU, RAM and interface stats.
  • yes you can add that new SNMP community string on your schedule discoveries so that it use it to check on devices that will be scanned.

  • In Solarwinds NPM application - it does not. In NTA application - it does not but you can track it. See page 162, 168, 171 https://support.solarwinds.com/@api/deki/files/9966/NetFlowAdministratorGuide.pdf you can see on NTA who are most likely servers infected with Virus as the download or suspecting data on your network.
  • check it on your Solarwinds License Manager on the Solarwinds server >> launch it and see which one are the full and on evaluation. You might installed some demo in the past. You may need to uninstall it on add remove programs for that evaluation (in case) then if it still shows that license issue after dismissing it on…
  • go to manage node >> Edit the node >> uncheck 64-bit counter >> submit >> force poll the node and check if it will see traffic in. if that does not solved it: Go to manage node >> edit the node >> put it on SNMPv.1 >> submit and force poll the node if that does not work: Go to Orion Server >> run SNMPwalk on the device…
  • I believe you are adding the IPSLA operation in manual - once you have changed anything on the Command Line for IPSLA, it does not work, and you have to re-add the operations on VNQM. Well, I believe that really how it works, unless the you have added the device automatically which Solarwinds will create the operation. The…
  • Here is a sample if you use "Has Changed" on your Alerts: WHERE ( (CustomPollers.UniqueName = 'ciscoEnvMonSupplyState') AND (CustomPollerStatus.Rate = CustomPollerStatus.Rate and ((select count(*) from AlertValueChanges where TableName = 'Nodes' and FieldName = 'LastBoot') > 0) and (NodeID in (select NodeID from…
  • nope feature request. It is a global settings.
  • not sure if Orion SDK will work on this as NTA uses NTA flow storage database - which is non SQL database. Although it uses still 20% of the SQL database most of the data you will be looking is on the NTA flow storage database. you can RDP to the NTA FSDB and got to program files and search for FASTBIT Studio.
  • Questions: 1. Was it working before? If no: Then most likely the configuration or routing issue. To verify if it is something to do with NTA or device, run wireshark on the Orion server and filter it to the IP address for that node, check if your getting any flow data. If yes: are there any device configuration changes, or…
  • NPM does not have that column on Report Writer or Orion Web Report to show the number of times that the device went down base on the time frame of the report you have selected. But this might be possible if you will just extract the data from the SQL before 7 days(default on Polling settings). Because after 7 days, all the…
  • This is a known issue, check the this Hotfix 4 http://downloads.solarwinds.com/solarwinds/Release/HotFix/OrionPlatform-v2015.1.2-HotFix4.zip Orion Platform 2015.1.2 Hotfix 1 * Interface alerts retrigger when a node is deleted. * Orion thresholds are not filtered by type. This Hotfix also updates the topology calculation…
  • Creating Custom Properties Custom properties are additional fields, such as country, building, asset tag, or serial number, that you can define, associate with monitored network objects, and store in your Solarwinds database. After properties are added, they are available for display and filtering both within the Orion Web…
  • Advise, do not put any list or top xx on the Summary page as it has the tendency to list a lot of information and upon login on Orion web - this query all resources and making your initial login takes time.
  • Did you check that maybe you have similar alert enabled for this alert you have? like a global alert down node on Advance alert manager or on Basic Alert Manager? What alert action you are using here? email? best way to isolate if that really still triggers is to put a Log to file alert action or test it naturally. Add a…
  • Hi, that "never" statement on that last received column is one indication if your flow data from your device is reaching the Orion server (where NTA is installed). If it is receiving and correct template, it should show an updated time stamp. To check and isolate it fast, On your Orion server run packet capture…
  • Are you asking on how to get the SQL equivalent of a Web base report? or you are asking on how to put an SQL query to generate a report?
  • choly is correct, there are 2 pre-canned alert for High Percent Utilization for both transmit and received. You may just modify the alert base on what element information you want to trigger (percent utilization or bandwidth). I have NTA 3.11 all the way to 4.1, this alert is on it epenney (Advance Alert Manager).
  • what file type of image you have? the default images you have their when you add background images are jpeg files. These are located default on the Orion server C:\Users\Public\Pictures\NetworkAtlas Backgrounds try to change your image file to jpeg.
  • recreate the data then RDP to the Solarwinds server and check the Orion web logs on C:\ProgramData\Solarwinds\Logs\Orion check the bottom part and see what the logs says. Also you can enable hubble from the web.
  • Please correct me if I'm wrong. I believe it Uses SIP protocol which VNQM does not support at the moment. VNQM What we are working on post v4.2 (Updated April 2, 2015)
  • did you encounter any error during your first run of upgrade. By default - it should not have any issue.
