That is correct, he did mention disabling etc. I should have pointed that out. My post was misleading on that front. I guess I was looking for best practices if they do exist. Again, this tech was awesome and was going MUCH more in depth in his troubleshooting than any tech I've ever spoken to - its a shame this guy can't…

I have no doubt AO is widely deployed successfully. This SE was highly technical and great to work with. He gave me numerous off the cuff random tips and tricks in one call. If there are no considerations for running the CW against the AOL then I’ll take that to the bank. Thanks guys

Thank you very much for all the data and examples, this is what I needed. So all of these work like the legacy maps, meaning I can drop these in locked down views protected per client login?
-
Thanks, looking for customer pics too, ala the 'show us your maps threads'. I guess these will come in due time.

Any update to this? AD properties in Orion, is it possible?
-
To quickly remove SAM template assignments I use this code - not sure if this will be of use to you with AD AI but I use this code nearly everyday dealing with removing SAM templates. DELETE FROM [dbo].[APM_Application] where nodeid = '248' and id in ('200') Deleted application monitor still tied to the node

Well you also forgot to mention the $20,000 cost for an APE or $5000 for the office APE lite. I'll never get why the cost is so high for such a basic necessity.

Support said it caused agent issues on Windows hosts as well for another customer. I'm still dealing with fallout from this patch so beware. I'm really beginning to abhor Windows 2016/2019 patching. I'm not sure how Microsoft can expect customers to take 1+ hour for these monthly cumulative updates. Luckily, they seem to…

Yeah, I get it. My process is I open the IIS logs to see real time hits for our environment - since we don't have 1000 users hitting the Web FE its easy to peek at the IIS logs. God I miss the Windows version of WebTrends.

For us, with multiple parents in only one group, the alert is for the group. Make sure to set polling on parents more aggressive than the children. We do every 30 seconds on parents, 60 seconds on children. Oye vey thats too much. I know.

Yep, I've had many issues with this. its a killer for us. You must deploy the Orion monitoring template and look for high Job Results Notified counts. When its building, all performance stats DROP. Here are results from a recent case I had on this - you should do the TCP/IP optimizations in the registry ASAP. Also, run…

It seems the agent is the way to go instead of SNMP lately for these kinds of anomalies.
-
Not sure you can actually alert on that particular widget.
-
Thanks, got it going now.

Same table caused some trauma here as well - Transaction Logs filling up, problem solved.

You're asking for something that a lot of people want. Syskit has it - https://www.syskit.com/#products-panel Exoprise has it - RDP and VDI Performance Monitoring | Exoprise SolarWinds has a few templates - Windows Remote Desktop Services (Session Host Role) Remote Desktop (RDP) Activity
-
Usually when this issue happens you can RDP but you will see the pre-login screen spinning, just as you would see in VCenter console. How is your team "remoting" in - RDP? Again, this issue is very common with Windows, and extremely difficult to detect with monitoring. I agree about not desiring agents and it would most…

Did you read the link? The part where it says Note?

So, you do realize that historically, all of the AppInsight templates have a tendency to show themselves to be an occasional a big red critical mess, but are more often than not, are red herrings. Do you have a DBA that has followed the SQL server recommendations? Are you using RAID 10? How many nodes? What are your…

Apply the Orion template asap. Disable a few of the components that are no longer valid. This is the most important template for all SolarWiinds admins to deploy. It should be second nature to deploy it against your main polling engine for every production environment. I couldn’t live without it.

Thank you very much. After reading all of the issues people have had, I'm wondering still, if HA is a risky deployment in an OnPrem/AWS scenario. We are deploying an HA standby to AWS, and the AlwaysOn secondary in AWS. I have not seen anyone deploy this kind of scenario. In your opinion, is this a risky deployment?
-
I think I'll wait for a correct answer. Any disruptions to the database has always caused the gaps you are seeing for me.
-
Sounds you need an "additional web server" license if you are only needing a web console instalaltion.
-
Go to Admin / Settings / Manage accounts and Edit a GROUP or USER. Go to Account Limitations - set filters for what they should see here. Also, you can create a custom View for each group or users in the option - Home Page View. Go to manage Views, make a copy of a View you like, customize it, then assign the copy with a…

UDT is for detecting Unauthorized nodes. Port monitoring is easy with NPM. I'm not a UDT expert but there is a lot of documentation on it here on Thwack - User Device Tracker Network Device Tracking Software | SolarWinds

Did you run the EXE or run the installer? Was a Configuration Wizard required?

SAM is the only way to go and works great for Oracle.

Thank you kind sir!
