I did, definitely recommend it too. It was quick and painless. The major pain with 2016 is Windows Updates taking 1 hour. Ridiculous.

Thank you, good to hear!

Our's works when I choose the SID destination type - I'm not an Oracle guy so don't ask...

You're welcome for the help. Your subject is Cisco, but you mention servers. What is the polling method for these problem hosts? Agent? ICMP? SNMP? WMI?

100%? All of them? That doesn't sound good. Can you post a one week screenshot of an example node like I did above? I suggest applying packet level threshold to your Node down alerts. For example we alert above 90% to cut down on noise. Also, this obscure setting below is discussed a lot on this very same topic - what is…

Rename the Component as the URL name itself. This is how I do it and this is suggested to others who have posed this exact question.

Does anyone have insight on: 5.) What are your experiences with servers that get destroyed and rebuilt and how you monitoring those servers using SolarWinds? We are now dealing with a TerraForm IAC AWS tenant and need some ideas for Linux and Windows monitoring automation.
-
Sounds like you are wanting self service reporting giving a user the ability to select objects/dates?
-
This would be a fantastic report.

What about the case with an HA fail over, will the additional web server still work if the primary polling engine is down and the secondary HA box takes over? Thanks
-
Thanks AE. Case opened. Diags sent. I'm sure I just need to bounce services. But I'm wanting to see why all agents dropped at 12am.

Alot has changed since 2005. Orion Platform Migration Guide Migrate SolarWinds Orion products to a new server with a new IP and hostname

So you have created a new view for a user that you set limited objects in their account, but the user is seeing more than the limited objects? Have you limited the page itself to a limited object view? Can you post redacted Screenshots?

Is this a Windows or Linux host? Was it a virtual volume/LUN that got removed? Was it a volume that got "unchecked" in List Resources within SolarWinds? If yes, was it a volume that got re-labeled within the O/S? How was the missed volume noticed? You are casting a very wide net which is why I asked for the event…

I suggest to go to your Message Center, filter on reboot events and see whats reporting reboots.

I read the post incorrectly, I see he wants data from SCOM for non-monitored nodes in Solar. I would simply embed SCOM performance data in Custom HTML resources. Create the SCOM perf widget in SCOM with desired counters, get the HTML for the SCOM widget, embed that into html resource.

Wow, we have 1200 and have way less resources. I have come to realize that Orion is a massive beast, in many ways unwieldy for ALL of the MANY moving pieces and parts that can break. There is so much going on that its difficult to narrow down causes of people's woes and bugs. I'm fighting an Unknown node issue now that is…

HA is so sensitive to the slightest anomalies that we had to turn it off due to it failing over many times a day. Hopefully it can be tuned in the future with a definitive scope of items that cause fail-overs and a way to control them at a granular level. For us, we have a very transient error happening that has zero…

Thank you Michael. This is awesome.

Event rule to pick up the disable event log entry, then a power shell script trigger to engage the Unmanage Utility scheduling option. But this sounds kludgy. I don't see any way to do this efficiently, but I'm also not an MVP, lol. If a service is down, its down. Not much else you can do.

"I would rather not have to open report writer designer view and modify a report just to change the date range that I want to run the report against, which I think is what you are saying to do."

Screenshots please.

We're running SQL 2014 for NPM 12.2

What does your orionweb log say when you trigger this? One tip - if you Google "Thwack + error description" you can find many answers for these kinds of problems. This is not the exact error, but might be good to try. Unexpected Website Error: Value cannot be null parameter name: format - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help…

Yeah.... I remember a similar situation posed, who knows if it was a thread derail or other topic that got mixed. I just remember realizing from that thread that APs weren't very customizable or able to receive a custom property. So to that end, we rely on a customer code for the Controllers for individual customers get…

Interesting, as we were going to hold off on upgrading NTA 4.23 due to the loss of historical flow data. Hopefully you are seeing a bug with the installer.

Are all of your maps dead or just one? Anyone else having issues rendering maps?
-
One of these could be breaching a threshold - I'd open each one and check the raw data.

You have to go to Manage Reports page and import the XML file, it will then show up as a published report that you can make copies of and further customize.

"The APM_PortEvidence_Detail table stores the result from each polled synthetic experience monitor for the last 7 days by default (user configurable)" With that said, which retention setting controls this table? or is it affected by the global retention setting? (no granularity)
