Reports and date ranges
-
There is a huge thread on this specific issue that was bumped recently - customers wanting the ability to give non-admin end users date range pickers for reporting and views. It does not exist and its a gap for us too - PMs coming to me for reports 100 times a week when they should be able to self service date range…

You had many issues with 12.3 as we all know. I'm sure your ticket history looks incredibly nasty in their queue.
-
This has always been a huge issue for me so I hope that you open a case and get the scoop from support. To open a case loginto your customer portal and open it there, assuming you have current maintenance $ paid up.

An AWS will not give you that kind of redundancy if you don’t have at least one polling engine alive. I think you’re now entering a discussion of HA & PE redundancy.
-
Thank you sir...forgot about that one!

The second set of queries are meant to be ran during maintenance activities when all Orion services are stopped. The first set is only a query for troubleshooting SQL fragmentation. None of these queries are meant to be scheduled. The first set are common clean up queries that should be done during maintenance or emergency…

Yes, that counter is crucial in addition to Jobs Queued. You have to setup alerts for this application template in order to squash the issue quickly so your charts don't have those epic gaps. I am on top of this issue daily. Lost stats = bad PR for SolarWinds products amongst management. When you have to stop all services…

1. Uninstalled IIS 2. Renamed Inetpub/Inetsrv folders. Rebooted. 3. CW completed successfully. Radial gauges are still broken.
-
No worries. I'm guilty a million times over for not reading every word of this, that and the other thing.
-
Thank you - can someone provide deployment feedback that has deployed this? I recall there were several issues with the initial hotfix release as stated in the NPM 12.2 feedback thread. Also, is a service restart needed and config wizard? What is the preferred method of deployment - use this EXE link provided above or…

Face down, as in, down really down?

Reboot heaven baby! The sure way to fixing 99.99% of all issues. All set down here.

There you go, this is the pain. When you have 3000+ servers, and 50+ different windows credentials cycling though those 3000+ servers, this is a horrific nightmare, blasting 3000 servers looking for a volume your admin in Brussels added last week without telling you. Its sloppy and and imperfect. What is the solution? Not…

I'm getting errors trying to add this to a custom chart web report - is this query working for 12.3? I guess I'll try legacy report writer next. Thanks

-
Thanks Chris - I'm actually looking to add the Customer custom property field in the SELECT statement. This way we can pull all Customers and sort as needed, instead of doing the WHERE clause for each client. I surmise the Customer property field needs to be placed correctly inside each Union portion of the query. Still…

Serena - We already upgraded Production to 12.3. So I guess the next DAU for us would be for 12.4. Unless of course you'd like to help design our HA initiative for AWS. Our main focus now is doing HA between on-prem and AWS with our newly acquired HA license. From the looks of it all, there are many considerations for this…
-
RS - Do you also revert to SQL snaps in a bad upgrade situation? or do a BAK restore? I've always been leery of snapping SQL and restoring a polling engine. Our DBAs are not in line to help us experiment with Production SolarWinds upgrades so that is one huge hurdle in "tinkering". My fear of an unstable system lasting…

Was an OS upgrade part of your migration?

How many CPUs? VM? How log has this been going on? What process is grabbing CPU? I guess its not a showstopper for you. For us, to have any kind of gaps in performance collection reporting would be bad.
-
Thank you very much for the insight. Support recommends upgrading NTA to suppress the timeouts with a new SQL architecture so we're going in that direction. A hopefully successful band-aid. I definitely agree about the AWS license. I got a quote last week. It seems HA is, as described in another thread "overly…

Ah, thanks. I figured it was some kind of dependency anomaly but thought any widget is available on any page.

Been wanting this for a while.

I think many people here do not realize these are public pages being scraped by bots. Imagine how many nefarious entities scraping for *af.mil email addresses now have this one in their dump to spread on the dark web. Yeah, I think too much, I get it. But government officials should not publicize their name and email…

Its the only patch missing. We have installed it and rolled back twice now. Anyone else out there get stung by this…

I don't think Microsoft has any hands in the pie or benefit in influencing the architecture of the SolarWinds core product. Nor do I think there is any incentive that Microsoft feeds or pays SolarWinds to be a Windows tool. Do they like it? Sure. Do they want SW to abandon Windows? Not really. The only monetary benefit for…
