Any ideas on these? Why is NPM SMTP working fine and not NCM? 2021-07-22 06:19:10,652 [29] ERROR SolarWinds.Cirrus.BusinessLayer.Jobs.Notifications.BaseJobNotification - Unable to send plain text: System.Net.Mail.SmtpException: Failure sending mail. ---> System.IO.IOException: Unable to write data to the transport…

Imagine if someone wrote a new feature to email the default address when a new fixed, nfs-net disk, or mount point volume is discovered. Would save a lot of headaches. Hmm, I think this could be done through other ways (alert), though. Now that I think about it.
-
No. You will see each server with the new volume that is discovered in the results list, and the ability to check them off one by one. Do a sample discovery for 1 IP and see it in action.
-
Any updates?
-
You can do a discovery, and then add each discovered volume one by one. I would not delete and re-add, especially if you have application monitoring in place. Both options suck, I know.

Any update?

$286 million dollars is not an accidental, non-coincidence. https://www.theregister.com/2020/12/16/solarwinds_stock_sale/

SCEP is very unhappy. Nightmare. Category: Trojan Description: This program is dangerous and executes commands from an attacker. Recommended action: Remove this software immediately. Items: containerfile:C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\NetPerfMon-WebSite.precompiled.zip…

Nope. This is why 3 years ago when someone added an Exchange volume, it wasn't added to Solar. Customer had the disk filled, and all suggestions were "do a discovery". But with 3000 nodes with 15 different domain logins, and 300 different subnets, its just painful. Yeah, I know, I'm a killjoy, but your issue has been…

A very basic Configuration item using SCCM could have alerted on file hash change (if the MSPs were hosted on Windows). So many simple things that big companies CAN do in the name of security, but most do not for lack of resources, discipline and a proactive security posture. How in G-ds name did FireEye not catch outbound…
-
Its my belief that the FireEye forensic document itself took MONTHS to create. I think this issue has been active and kept secret for months due to: 1. Presidential Election - imagine if they released this on October 20th. LOL! 2. Money - the stock dumps were epic and definitely timed Looking at Edgar data, it is obvious…

Its things like this that make all of us fear clicking on Install for the past 25 years. You never know what you're going to get.
-
Impossible to defend against? A simple check of the file properties using an SCCM remediation rule, GPO or just pure vigilance is all that was needed. If I was a company dumping install executable or MSP files on hundreds of fortune 500 companies and the government I would do all possible to confirm the integrity of those…

I'm beginning to believe this could be a false positive like you said, I wish I could get proof or if other people can scan and see if these DLLs are triggering false pozzies.

Deleted - bogus post.

Do you have the Orion server SAM template applied to your polling engine to see possible bottlenecks?
-
Someone will probably chime in suggesting doing a discovery, but this process, especially on 1500 VMs is a messy endeavor. This is one of the painful realities of disk discovery and management. There are a ton of threads on this. It is simply painful to manage - people may disagree, but all the previous threads have never…

Imagine that.

Unless you have a very vigilant security team that logs every piece of outbound traffic, I doubt it. Funny how a Window 7 Firewall does this fine, but I can't install this kind of stuff on my corporate network or my iPhone.

Too big to fail.

I've never heard of this account but it sure is popular on Google. https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=SolarWinds.Orion.Core.SharedCredentials.Credentials.UsernamePasswordCredential

I'd like to know why the CEO and others dumped tons of stock.
-
Another suggestion, I would use custom properties to filter instead of groups for disk alerts.
-
Have you tried copying an out of the box report and adding your custom field to it? I have a Custom Property called Customer, added as a filter. Hope this helps.
-
Very cool Chris. I knew there had to be someone out there wanting the same. I'm going to hack around and try it out!

I believe these items are related to the residual effects of outsourcing IT support to foreign lands. I've seen it so many times: your core group of people cannot hand hold every client and customer for years on end. So, to offset the burnout of core folks, companies outsource to offshore entities hoping to deflect the…

So this morning it happened again with new macro layout. It seems that if multiple components are down, separate alerts will be sent for each component. Its unfortunate that the Application based alerts cannot be used in Component based alerts - in other words, getting the data in my Component based alerts into an…

Thanks, this is not an APE but only a AWS. I can telnet successfully from the AWS on TCP 17777 to my PPE.

I too opened a case with support showing performance data from other tools showing long download times for specific objects consistently. But since this data didn't come from WPM, SW support couldn't help.
