This is beautiful, can you zip up the raw Visio file for future Solar bros that check this post.

Thank you so much Tony. Our very finicky customer asked for a report that he thought we couldn't do. I'm so glad for your guidance here. This is why SolarWinds is the only choice right now for monitoring. There is no way I could have done this report with ANY of the MaaS tools out there now.

I've enabled this alert and I'm seeing them trigger for stale fail-over events - date/timestamps from February 2018 and other stale dates. How does the fail-over alert work under the hood? Thanks
-
Windows event viewer - application log - do you see login failure events in there?

Thanks for the reply. I have re-ran the CW. I'm under the gun to get this stood up so I appreciate any suggestions. * I have confirmed that .NET versions are consistent. * I have tried with and without https. * I ran ProcMon and found interesting missing file/folder events, but not entirely sure if they are related…

Thanks. It appears the user notes field will work with some formatting.

Still a problem...
-
That would take substantial dev dollars to port to MAC. I don't ever see this happening.
-
I believe I once got around this by doing an IIS redirect to the NOC view page.
-
Not sure if it helps but I get this data from an Asset Inventory report. It shows each node with Tomcat/Apache.

We had to uninstall all Orion services and re-install. I think the Job Scheduler was the main culprit. The uninstall and reinstall of all services is the #1 solution for many problems. It makes me nervous re-enabling HA to be honest. I have 20 project managers who bark if stat collection dies. If this happens once a month…

I tried to hammer the Orion Demo site and re-create it there but it was robust and happy to deliver all the open tabbed pages requests. That was good to see. Would be great to figure out what can crash our's so easily but I know it might not be simple to pinpoint.

1 MPE 1 HA Standby 1 AWS (no LB - just 1 front end AWS) NPM, SAM, NTA, IPAM, HA Its so easy to crash that its frightening.
-
Thanks Chris - here is the Component trigger logic...

Use the Unmanage Utility to create a scheduled task for that group of nodes, have the users fire that scheduled task off from a button on a web page inside or outside the web front end, or remotely with schtask/POSH. Easier said than done with the remote execution part, but a smart person could do it for sure! Configure…

Thanks, one last question, is the cause of my main polling engine being red here due to red criticals in the Deployment health page? The server is happy and green in NPM but red on all the HA pages. If its red, will a fail-over occur or is this just cosmetic due to 'perceived' critical health issues?

Sounds like he wants dynamic geo-location updates for nodes/equipment that might be mobile and not stationary at all times.
-
Any comments about 3000+ alerts? This is what makes these kind of charts useless due to the noise of some templates.
-
Yep. This is what I expected and understand. My boss wanted an additional sanity check. Thanks

How is the packet loss chart looking on nodes alerting? What is your node warning level set at in Orion Polling Settings page?
-
Yeah, I ran it for 'error' and it didn't stop spitting errors for about 16 hours.
-
Did you install HF 1 or 2? Hot Fix 2 is buggy as well unfortunately.
-
When you go to Health Explorer in SCOM, what counter is not resetting?
-
Can you post screenshots of your node down alert configs? What is your Node Warning Level set at in /Orion/Admin/PollingSettings.aspx?
-
Just taking a guess here, but I don't think you can apply IIS to a VIP in such a way as it deploys a certificate at the machine level. What are your main goals with the Appinsight tempalte? To look at perf metrics or service monitoring? Maybe there is a better way to get what you need monitoring the VIP. Just brainstorming…

I embed HTML iframe code in a HTML widget to display a widget or other object from another view. I do this often with NetFlow panels. Not sure if this a solution but just an idea for you to check out. Correct sizing is done with the width and height options. Code I use: <iframe src="https://solar.comapny.com/orion/"…

A little known caveat that you should know about is to use the "starts with" option due to the multiple Fixed Disk types.
-
Do you have the Orion Application template deployed with SAM to watch for jobs lost and jobs queued? These 2 counters are critical to watch for this kind of issue, and for general Orion health. I would be lost without watching these 2 counters. They are the cornerstone of Orion health.

There are so many threads on this issue. Its one of the most painful pain-points of the product. Most people new to the product only learn of this when they get burned by a missed disk alert. We did 8 years ago. And ever since then, its been a bummer to manage. No, discoveries is not the answer.
