This is a good article and I agree with rschroeder as a weekly page or blog on this subject would help to make sure we network engineers are following what you termed as basic security hygiene. SolarWinds helps in managing some of the security fundamentals that we should take care of, especially when you run it against the…

I think this kind of information should not limited or relegated to just UDT. It should be a function of NPM. Just my opinion.

SolarWinds is approved and has a NETCOM Certificate of Networthiness. this means it is approved for use on the Army Network. This approval has been leveraged by others for use on DoD networks from what I know. We also use ACAS and HBSS to to scan for vulnerabilities and monitor the end points.

When I saw this I thought it was a reasonable request, however I will also be casting a nay vote. As you mentioned, icmp is blocked at firewalls since it can be used in DOS and DDOS attacks. I allow ICMP in through the firewall to and from specific sources because it is inherit in the applications nature to first ping to…

Let's take this a step further. The Federal Government and DoD has a mandate that access to all websites within the Federal Government and DoD use Two Factor Authentication (2FA). That means for us to access the SolarWinds Web gui, it has to use 1) an active directory account and 2) linked to the users CAC and the…

There is much to be liked in NPM 12 and there are still things that need to be tweaked. It is really up to us as users to provide input. Having said that, I noticed that the switch stack information gives me false readings. I have a single switch and NPM 12 shows a warning about power redundancy. Yes it has two power…

That would be a great feature. Right now when it does alerts, it uses IP addresses for the tunnel endpoints and unless you know the IPs by heart, then it is more difficult especially when you have a lot of tunnels. Name Tags

I am starting to use NPM 12.0 RC1. It takes a little getting used to because of the differences from the last version. I haven't been able to have everything show up in my network, probably because of the legacy configurations that I still use. NetPath services so far shows me what is in between when I go point to point…

What is the timeline for the release of 2022.1? We haven't seen anything since 2020.2.6 was released.

Oops.... Found the complete package. Thanks again.

Awesome! There was a time when I was so focused on work and getting ahead that even when I went home I didn't stop thinking about work or being a supervisor. Needless to say it impacted how my wife and interacted and how our relationship suffered. More recently like in the last year, it has become I leave work at work and…

You are absolutely right. It is one thing to get in compliance, quite a different story staying in compliance. Compliance is driven by policy which is driven by regulations and directives. The bottom line is to be in and remain in compliance as policy will always have to evolve and should be considered as living that needs…

Could you provide me with an updated status? I have not heard anything in the last 23 days and would like to know what I need to do?
-
Thank you. I hope to hear from you this week.

Have you an updated status for this?

lcsw2013 - I ran into this problem when I Installed 2020.2.5 using a database that was from my previous installation of 2020.2.2 before the Solarwinds Supply Chain Attack and I was forced to take it down and do forensics on it. When I rebuilt it from scratch, that is when I ended up with the license store being corrupted…

robert.scarborouh - What is he looking to get information from, the 2110 or the VM device?

Did this ever get figured out? I am currently running ISE 2.7 and I have been not able to download the configuration files to Solarwinds since July when I did the upgrade.
-
Did you ever get an answer to this question? Here is a link to a good tutorial below. (although it doesn't look like a link). It really depends on its function. All my network equipment is configured as server clients just to make it simple. Here is the simplest way that I have found to do it. hostname> conf t…

You're right and tech support confirmed separately since I had open a ticket prior to starting this discussion. The different accounts and security priniciple accounts were all messed up because I installed NPM and NCM without disabling the antivirus program (HBSS). I am now going to have the server restored back to just…

planglois, From what I remember, we determined that I had the windows login selected. soon after, I had installed NPM 10.7 RC and the problem never reappeared. I am sorry that I could not be more helpful.

Yes I understand about the Orion Platform services. I can't log into the SolarWinds and SQL server as we are having AD problems. Tech support was SolarWinds. AS for the user or security principle in SQL. The user that I am using is the default admin account that comes installed with SolarWinds. I would think that a…

Because I deal with the government, I will have to wait until they stand up a VPN tunnel for our organization to reach the remote organization. Even though ICMP will still be blocked, I am hoping that the SNMP information will come through and show that the network device is up and operational instead of staring at a red…

I believe that I have that checked off. Every time I add a node, I go in and make sure that SNMP is checked off. Having said that, I can't access the device to select the resources to ensure that it is indeed checked off. I do know using the document submitted to the firewall guys that the UDP ports 161 and 162 are open…

Serena, the latest offline installer for NPM has a date of 13 September which I installed already and that is the only offline installer for NPM there is. The NPM 12.2. Hotfix is contained in Hotfix Bundle for Products with Orion 2017.3 - includes NPM 12.2 Hotfix 2 and it has a date of 8 November. This is the one that I…

Sorry so late. Yes, I created a ticket and received support. Thank you.

I downloaded and imported the device template that you posted. I was successful in connecting for NCM management and was able to then download the FTD configuration without a problem. I am also able to monitor the interfaces too through SNMP.
-
Currently NPM 11.X is approved and has a CoN. How long before NPM 12.0 is submitted and is approved. I can't upgrade NCM from 7.4.1 to 7.5 because it only works with NPM 12.0. I can't officially upgrade to NPM 12.0 without the CoN. So I am stuck between the proverbial rock and hard place.

I have a support case #1195471 with what looks to be like multiple cases that is assigned to a application developer (?). These problems have affected my installation before moving to NPM 12.2 and NCM 7.7. I am still trying to working with support to resolve this issue. Hope this helps. It has gotten worse after I…

Hi! From what I have been doing... Each group has their tiers i.e. Network level 1, network level 2, group manager. If a ticket needs to be reassigned, based on what I have learned and experienced that it can be reassigned to another group. Is this what you are trying to do?
