All - here is an update to the thread: Microsoft has responded that they are not going to fix this issue in their control. We have created a hotfix for those customers running Windows XP and above that will allow the use of an older control (which displays the IP Address correctly) for only the Syslog server application.…

Netmonguy - Yes, this was a known issue in v9.2, and was subsequently patched. HTH, Greg

Thanks Jason - and sorry for the confusion there. I will update the docs for the service pack to include this important bit of info, as well as make sure the next hotfix plays nice with the native install on 2000. Thanks, Greg
-
ceclark - I am sorry about your issues with .NET, here are some steps from Microsoft's website about how to repair the installation: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306160. Regarding DoD policy, we are making efforts to provide support for user accounts with reduced privileges, and most installations can be customized by…

Da Haole - We had a bug in version 10.0 that would cause that, but it was fixed in 10.1, which has been out for a month now. Give that a try... HTH, Greg
-
Jamieson - Floyd helped me with a work-around for getting the Gadgets group back... In the View Menu, select 'Explorer Pane', that will make the panel visible. You can then use the lower half of the view menu to select your group. We will adjust the code so that the lower view menu makes sure the panel is visible first!…

Shawn - I have never seen the setting exposed on a device, but that doesn't mean yours doesn't have one... BTW: There are many utilities to convert Unix text files to Windows text files. You can also change them manually in most good text editors (like notepad++, UltraEdit, Etc). HTH, Greg

I have not heard of it, but I will investigate. --Greg
-
Reheindel - we are working on a strategy to get these databases consolidated in one location. I am glad you were able to get latest MIB via the DL. A few hints: The Toolset stores the MIB Db in: CommonAppData\SolarWinds (usually C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SolarWinds Orion NPM stores the MIB Db in…
-
katraska - please upgrade your Toolset to the latest version (currently 10.4) by downloading from your customer portal, or install the latest version of the Free TFTP server here. HTH, Greg
-
Sorry ASanchez - I didn't read your post carefully enough. The Toolset must be installed on the machine you're are browsing on, not the Orion server. Sorry for the confusion. --Greg
-
d-moore - You can still use the Classic version of the Switch Port Mapper to export your data to many different formats. Exporting data out of the gadgets of the Workspace Studio is on our list of improvements to make... HTH, Greg

Hey Haole - We should be getting reverse DNS on command line output, but I think you just found an issue. I will get it on the list of upcoming fixes. Thanks, Greg
-
eknowal - You are using the Classic version of the Switch Port Mapper... Use the Switch Port Mapper (and a lot of other great gadgets) in the Workspace Studio... Start Menu -> Programs -> SolarWinds Engineer's Toolset -> Workspace Studio In the Gadgets section on the lower left, find the Discovery Tools folder, inside that…

I will post here when the fix is released. --Greg

telecom116 - Send me an email and I will try to get you going today. --Greg

Grant - That is correct, the Bandwidth Gauge does not export the chart. HTH, Greg
-
rmmagow - I suggest you register and enter the license manually: Nav to here, login, then find your product and click register. You can select "Manually enter a license key" on the licensing dialog to enter your key from the above website. If you have any problems, give customer service a call. HTH, Greg

Are you getting packets at the collector (as seen with a sniffer)? --Greg
-
We have not been able to reproduce this in our testing. Some things to check: The relay settings on the SMTP server Make sure you have a valid from address The application SWMEmailNotify is running. HTH, Greg
-
TechTips - That make a little more sense... The NPM you are referring to is Orion NPM which is currently on version 9.x (Toolset does not have separate engine). I know you could care less about which one, but in order for us to help, its kind of important. I was afraid that your toolset install was corrupted. I will…

I can reply definitively that a command line version of SwitchPortMapper (that outputs the results to the console) is currently in the v10 codebase - does that work for you? --Greg
-
No problem Patriot, but this brings up a question for you: What are you looking to do, speed up the scan? Or not reveal a community string? As long as we discover the hosts with a working community string, I am not sure the difference in methodology is important, unless I am missing something... --Greg
-
Sure - to clarify, if we do not see a @ sign in the community string, we lookup all the VLAN Id's, and get the bridge table for each VLAN automatically, you should not need to add it. You only want to add the @VLANID when you want to map *only* that VLAN, otherwise we will get all the VLANs for you. Does that help? --Greg

Yes - your SNMP tool is trying to print the hex characters. Try our SNMP MIB Browser: www.solarwinds.com/.../engineer.aspx HTH, Greg
-
d-moore - in all fairness, I would second the recommendation to repair Orion. In the case that your installation might be a little different than the standard, and a conflict did occur, that would make Orion the last one installed and would win the conflict. In regards to the config wizard, I would run through each part.…
-
Sure - On the Orion Website, just click title of the resource to "detach" it (which opens it in new window or tab), then copy the URL in the new window to the clipboard, open the settings in the WebGadget in the Workspace Studio, and paste in that URL that you copied before. If you need to login to view that resource, add…

Drburge - There currently is no patch available, and it is scheduled to be fixed in the next major release of Toolset. In the meantime, there are a few other apps in the Toolset that can enable / disable interfaces: * Network Performance Monitor * Real Time Interface Monitor * IPNetwork Browser HTH, Greg

Check the group/view for community string. See: www.cisco.com/.../fcd301.html HTH, Greg
