  •  Terryboy - ifyou look at packet #12 where we are asking for RFC1493-MIB:dot1dTpFdbTable, you can see where the device responds with the next OID is it supports (packet #13), which is outside of the RFC1493-MIB:dot1dTpFdbTable. We are currently working on a newer version of the switch port mapper that will attempt to use…
  •  John - could you please contact support on this so we can get more information from you? Thanks, Greg
  • Net Nerd - We are in the process of testing with the security update for Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 Service Pack 6 Runtime Extended Files: December 9, 2008, which includes mswinsck.ocx. Is this the upgrade you are referring to? http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=926857 We have not gotten to the Syslog Server yet, but we…
  • ConnellC - can you ensure you have installed the Hotfix for Toolset 10.3, as this is one of the items fixed in the hotfix? Are you also sending in the unique machine ID from that server? HTH, Greg
  • Hi Ciag - This is a known issue due to the way the ifLastChange date is presented to us in the counters. It is the value of sysUptime when the change was made, so if sysUptime has rolled over, and becomes less that the last change counter value, it seems to us that the change happened in the future. We have been adding…
  • Hi Tom - it is a known issue, and will be fixed in an upcoming release. As a workaround, you can use the SwitchPortMapper in the Workspace Studio and export the results to XML, CSV, HTML, etc. and get that into SQL. I know it is a little less automated... HTH, Greg
  • MadDog - Looks like there is something in the External Tools configuration that is causing the load error. Try this, navigate to your settings folder (C:\Documents and Settings\<your user name.domain>\Local Settings\Application Data\SolarWinds\Dashboard and find the file named ExternalTools.xml, rename it to something else…
  • Wilhelmll - Sounds like it is trying to bind to an address that is not present on the machine. Try the steps listed here: HTH, Greg
  • Sure - if you use the Workspace Studio version of the SwitchPortMapper, there is a setting to exclude Cisco trunk ports: HTH, Greg
  • Die-Tech - Try removing the preceeding /, and if that does not get it, try reversing the / to \. If that does not get it, the web app might be adding a special char to the TFTP command, can you send me a sniff of the a interaction? Do you have access to the CLI for this device (Telnet/SSH), it might be easier to use it for…
  • Ed - Can you give me some more information about what SQL version the Toolset conflicts with? I have never heard of this before. The error you are receiving can happen when the .NET runtimes have become corrupt. Especially if you have never tried to license the application. This could also have an effect on SQL... Once you…
  • Bryan, As long as you are not seeing an excessive slowdown in the user interface, I don't think 400 nodes every 15 minutes should be an issue. HTH, Greg
  •  torrielw - I am sorry you are experiencing issues with customer service. I have asked some folks to get things rolling regarding your account status. Regarding the licensing and needing to talk with support, you can end-around calling when moving a license by using the SolarWinds license manager, which you can download…

  • AKG - Did you download the Interop Forms Toolkit redistributable or the Toolkit itself? Have you been experiencing any other installation weirdness on this machine in the past? Are you running as admin on the box? Also - might try repairing the Windows Installer and installing .NET 2.0 instead of 3.5. Thanks, Greg
  • I am sorry you are disappointed, but I run Toolset on Win7 everyday, without errors. Yes, we do require admin access, but that its to prevent errors. Let's do a remote session to see if there is some configuration settings we can adjust to make your experience more pleasant. --Greg
  • Hi dttng - Can you verify they look correct in a packet capture, or try it on a flow from a different device? There have been know issues with some vendors firmware where the IP Address is not getting encoded correctly... HTH, Greg
  • jonchill, You bet you can email a manually run report. Run the desired report, Then select File menu...Send To...Mail Recipient. and enter the required information and select "Send". Hope this helps, Greg

  • JNelson62 - There currently is no way to monitor custom MIBs in the Workspace Studio. A couple of places that you can: * Orion (see the UnDP) * Toolset - SNMP Real Time graph (Classic Tools) HTH, Greg
  •  And36y - we recently resolved an issue in SwitchPortMapper that should take care of this. It will be in SwitchPortMapper 9.2 Hotfix 1, which will be released any minute now. I will post a note in this forum when it is available. HTH, Greg
  • Hi CameraMonkey - Unfortunately, there is no way to set a default template for gauges; but we will look into providing this in a future version. Thanks, Greg
  • Hi Raymond - can you post more info about the error? Thanks, Greg
  • Hi Alan - Toolset v10.x will run fine on Vista x64, but we do require that you run as admin. HTH, Greg
  • Gerry - here are some things to try: * Turn off any drive indexing (google or MS) * Turn off Anti-Virus software * Make sure you are saving the file to a local drive that you have write AND create access to. If none of of these make a difference, PM me and we will hook-up a debugger to it and find out what's going on.…
  •  Worsterguy - Pix and ASA's only allow read-only access via SNMP, so there can be no RW community string. HTH, Greg
  • NDOT-Ralph - I have seen this before, but it was on versions of Toolset that were not licensed correctly. Can you please contact support to help you troubleshoot this? HTH, Greg
  • NDOT - Ralph - Are you logging in under a different account after the reboot? The Engineer's Toolset requires that the user be running as admin... HTH, Greg
  • freemen - there might have been an issue when provisioning your account with the new licenses. Give customer service a call so they can look into it please... 866.530.8040 HTH, Greg
  • bwhiting - One reason might be that the traffic counters have cleared for the interface, and we are using rollover method 1 to deal with the lower counter value (it will assume that the counter has actually rolled-over rather than re-baselining the counter). HTH, Greg
  • JKeeton81 - Probably the easiest way would be to turn on logging for portsecurity events, then use the Syslog Server in the Toolset to watch for events. You can periodically search for (and easily determine the source) of port security events. If you are using our Orion product, you can send alerts when you get these kinds…
