  • Hey Gert - you are correct there is no SNMP Sweep gadget in the Workspace Studio (yet). You can easily run the same great SNMP Sweep as a classic tool though. Once of the reasons we added Workspace Studio was to provide ourselves a platform on which we could rapidly develop new gadgets, without having to worry about…
  • Hi Richard -The setting "Allow SNMP community..." controls whether the community string is shown within in the node properties web pages, not necessarily passing it through to the Toolset integration. A device's community string is identified by a token in the HTML, and the Toolset integration will always ask you for a…
  •  tkoons - can you please verify that IPNetworkBrowser is using the string and not another SNMP App running on the box? Thanks, Greg
  • Network.IT - There is an easy solution for this: * Close NPM * Create a file named: SWNetPerfMon.DB in the install location (Usually <Program Files>\SolarWinds\Engineer's Edition\) * In the file, place the following line: Connection=Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Mode=Share Deny None;Data Source=c:\swnetperfmon.cfg *BUT*…
  • Hey Jeff - EOC does not currently support detaching resources, therefore getting the direct URL is not possible. I will put a bug in someone's ear to get that on the list. Thanks, Greg
  •  drburge - Yes, this was a bug introduced a couple versions back. We are looking to get this corrected in an upcoming release. You can use Realtime Interface Monitor to enable and disable interfaces in the meantime. HTH, Greg
  • Fluxeon - Can you verify that the "Do not display Cisco trunk ports" is not checked? There should be no problem finding the MAC if is comes up in "show mac"... Also, make sure your community string does not have an @ sign in it... If that still does not display the MAC, can you send me a couple things to help troubleshoot?…
  • Hi Hari - I am not sure what you mean by the Jump starter box, but if we can talk SNMP directly to the machine, and the MIB views are not limiting us, and there is no @ sign in the community string, we should be able to get all the VLANs on a switch. What type of switch are you mapping? Are you using the SwitchPortMapper…
  • Everyone, Thanks for your feedback! We have addressed these issues, and a new version should be released from testing in the morning (11/08/2005). As far as the insertion of the 'set length 0' command: Every device uses a command template. Before Cirrus communicates with a device, it runs the commands the in "RESET"…
  • DA787 - have you tried this? If that doesn't work - look at the application event log, it should tell you why the service is not starting. HTH, Greg
  • Hi Stacy - it seems your installation of the .NET framework has become corrupted. Try a repair... support.microsoft.com/.../306160 HTH, Greg
  • Rajivbahl - Optimally, you would want the Toolset installed on your own (engineer's) machine, that way when you turn on Toolset Integration in Orion, you can use your toolset tools without having to enter the device information (Address & Credential) every time. Currently, Toolset is not designed to be shared by multiple…
  •  Stagad - we usually get the "40" from IF-MIB:ifNumber (1.3.6.1.2.1.2.1). Is it possible the Nortel is giving us an incorrect value? HTH, Greg
  • Mdwyer - I would try reloading or repairing .NET 2.0. That should take care of it. HTH, Greg
  • Jeff, There was an issue with our inventory engine that would not correctly collect and update all the information in the database on certain devices, which sounds like the issue you are currently experiencing. We have corrected this issue, but have not had a release with the fix in it yet. You can obtain the patch for…
  • Majpain98 - unfortunately, only the icons found in the Launchpad can be used in the Launchpad, and that can be done by dragging an item from one tab to the other. HTH, Greg
  • Brian, Cirrus uses Winsock function calls for name resolution, which would cause the NetBIOS traffic you are seeing. This activity should not be a port scan, (checking if the port is open), but rather a legitimate request for name resolution. This should be no different that your Orion Server. Hope this helps, Greg
  • Hi Brian - Can you send me a sniff of the SNMP traffic? --Greg
  • Mgreco, Thanks for finding the relevant info on this issue! Greg
  • mgreco, I have not heard of anyone experiencing the CatOS devices rebooting simply by adding the devices to Cirrus... Cirrus uses industry standard SNMP and ICMP to determine the device's status, and TELNET/SSH to run commands on the device. I don't know of any problems on CatOS which cause spurious reboot when receiving…
  • Leksis - You should be able to call our customer service department (866.530.8100) to get that resolved. HTH, Greg
  • Dw33zl - Unzip and run the attached file (SolarWinds.LockedLibraryChecker.exe) and it should give you the names of the executable(s) that is preventing the install... [View:/cfs-file.ashx/__key/CommunityServer.Components.UserFiles/00.00.00.21.12/LockedLibraryChecker.zip] HTH, Greg
  •  kt8993 - In what tool in the toolset would you be referring to? If you would like to send SNMP request packets with a source address of 127.0.0.1, the agent responding to the request would not know where to send it back to since that address is not valid. Please clarify... Thanks, Greg
  • I have :). Are you using the WorkspaceStudio version of the SwitchPortMapper? --Greg
  • nsblue - I am looking into how the WMI Browser determines it's license state... --Greg
  • Hi Saby - Not sure what application in the Engineer's Toolset you are referring to, can you post a screen shot perhaps? --Greg
  • Misfit - Make sure you are using the latest version, as there was an old bug that would cause the BW Gauges to be off by 8x. Also, make sure that you are using the same kind of counters for each application. If it is a high speed interface, use the 64bit counters. Have you seen the gauges in the Workspace Studio? HTH, Greg
  • EducQldAust - This is not a known issue. Can you please send me a packet capture during which a crash occurs? Thanks, Greg
  • You sure can. HTH, Greg
  • rlsmith999 - Although the Toolset has some discovery capabilities, baseline + alert on inventory changes is not really within the scope of the Toolset (which is more of a realtime diagnostic and troubleshooting too), you may want to have a gander at our LanSurveyor product... HTH, Greg
