The Orion trap receiver will accept traps from any system by default, unless you have locked it down to specific IP ranges or addresses (most people don't). Simply configure the address of the Orion server in your application, and you can use the trap viewer to customize alerts and other rules, if you wish.

Your other option is to use: VolumeType="Fixed Disk" I've used this similarly in an advanced alert. Should work fine here as well.

Are you connecting to the database? Check in the Database Manager utility to see if the name hasn't been changed by accident.
-
How do you send your text messages? Can you give some more information?
-
What exactly are you looking for, a database query?

Did you come across this post? We used to do this, but the modem diead a year or so back and I've been relying on the mail server for relays ever since. My typical experience is to run a light "SMS Server" in conjunction with the SMS Modem, which you can then configure Solarwinds to relay through. Not all in all to…

If you've got the timing down, don't worry about advanced SQL commands - can't you just use this? Trigger Alert when all of the follwoing apply Node Status is not equal to up

This post may also be of use - I do the same alerting for when there is less than 2 GB of free space remaining. In any case, the conversions in the post may be helpful if you want to display the actual remaining disk space.
-
Try re-running the Configuration Wizard for the Orion web site - if this doesn't help you may want to rerun the SP3 install, it sounds like something slipped up somewhere.

Well, I thought I'd bring this up again. I'm still at a loss - every so often these NICs (now, I've even seen an Intel NIC do it occasionally) will go into an "Unknown State" and I stop receiving CPU Load, Memory, and generally any SNMP information. I have to restart the SNMP service in order to receive data again. This…

I have a 50" Plasma TV I use to display Orion on in our datacenter. I use Firefox with the ReloadEvery and TabSlideshow extensions. I put a different view on each tab, and TabSlideshow will alternate through each one on a pre-specified time schedule. ReloadEvery sends a refresh to the page every 5 minutes or so in order to…

You can very easily. There are many custom templates for popular applications in the Content Exchange, or it's very easy to make your own. Most Windows-based services can be monitored with WMI. There are detailed instructions in the APM Administrator manual located here:…

I did notice another glitch, purely cosmetic though, it seems. In the Event Summary module on my main page, it lists "APM Service Stopped", and "APM Service Started" although I'm sure it's referencing the NPM service. This is listed correctly in the Last 25 Events module. I had forgotten to note this earlier - it is still…

Upgraded this morning, no problems. I think everyone is slowly uncovering bugs that they've found (Here's one of mine: ), but other than that, it's pretty feature rich. I have started to notice problems with some of my custom poller charts showing "No Data Available for the time period selected" which worries me…

I would imagine you could supress the alerts using the Alert Manager, if that's your only problem. I would imagine (at least for me) the bigger issue would be the "down" interfaces cluttering the Nodes with Problems area and lowering the overall network downtime.
-
I've had the same problem in the past - check how much syslog monitoring you're doing, and adjust it to limit the database growth. Grant -- LinkedIn - www.linkedin.com/.../grantsewell Twitter - http://twitter.com/grantsewell Flickr - http://flickr.com/grantsewell

Hi Marco, It looks like you're using a JPEG? I fiddled around with this for awhile with my map, and ended up using a GIF. Maps don't encompass alot of different colors (usually) so the GIF size for mine ended up being around 40K. The quality is great. Your other option may be an uncompressed, or maybe 90% JPEG, but the…

Have you seen this custom resource? I found them very helpful. This only gives the option of 2 or 3 guages, but I would imagine the code might help you out.

I understand this is a Orion forum to responses may be bias. I think one of the greatest benefits to Orion is this forum. I have never actually called Solarwinds TAC, and have always been able to find a cheerful answer here, whether it required me to submit a question or find an existing response. The environment that I…

Your operating system should matter (completely) as long as you've got OpenManage installed. When you look at the pollers in the Orion Universal Device Poller, are they responding? Many MIBs won't work for certain charts based on their output types (i.e. you can't make a radial guage for a serial number), though you can…

With the release of NPM 9 Service Pack 2, this issue has been corrected: The size of the custom text field below the Orion Web Console login has been expanded to contain up to 3500 characters.
-
I think you might be able to acheive this - but it would be very tedious. If you wanted alerts from a site, you could always add a custom property with the site name, and create an advanced alert for, say: IF SITE="West-London-1" AND Node Status=DOWN But, that would continue to alert you. To suppress additional alerts, you…

I half-heartedly agree. Although I never really used the old Application Monitor, and I am enjoying the the new APM, it is a little difficult to go through everything and add a large number of servers. I too, have very few servers that use the exact same template. I cringe at the thought of having to add 752 servers...

W3 Schools has a neat reference for beginners and experts, plus alot of great examples. http://www.w3schools.com/sql/default.asp

We did this for awhile on some of our more critical and remote nodes. You can do it with the response time option, and the as for the value, Orion provides you with a lot of suggestions. Community = "Community1" Node Name = "Node1" ResponseTme < 100 This value is under the "Current Response Time" field under Network Nodes.…

I've recently upgraded our server to a Windows 2003 Server Enterprise 32-bit with 8GB of RAM and dual quad-core processors. No complaints so far, it's fast as ever. Noticeable increase and speed and responsiveness in the system. My configuration is very similar to yours, separate SQL and Orion servers, with a few modules.…

Also, check out the Content Exchange. There are numerous pre-made pollers available for APC, Emerson, and TrippLite UPS systems that you might be able to use.

Just installed SP1 and SP2 progressively on my 9.1 instance - no issues so far. Went smoothly.

This hasn't been cold for THAT long... yet. If you look at his profile, pHubb was last active on February 12, and there could be a number of reasons for the delay. It would be nice to see an update, but it could be additional features being added or another part of Solarwinds needing attention, or simply taking longer to…

Very nice resource - can't wait to try it out. It seems to jump around alot (IE7, FF2) when hovering over the nodes, but that looks like more of a problem with the Google API. Cool!
