  •  I concur on most of your comments, except.....you can lock down XP to be more secure than Win2k3 if you know what your doing. Thanks for the laugh this morning. : )
  • Thanks, I have tried that route too (as suggested by tech support) but I get another error when running the wizard after upgrading to 7.8.5. I'm currently on the phone with tech support and we are discussing it. It seems that I'm having multiple problems.....my opinion. Thanks for you help.
  • Michael, Works like a charm. I also created a custom item on the menu bar to replace the online "Help" item with the link to the local help file: http://youOrionIISServer/LocalHelp/NetPerfMon/SolarWinds/wwhelp/wwhimpl/js/html/wwhelp.htm Too bad we can't change the help file location for the System Manager and Map Maker.…
  • I'm still on Orion 7.7, but wanted to make sure the database converted correctly before upgrading to 8.5. Should I just upgrade to 8.5 and then see if the existing database converted correctly?
  • I'm sorry to say that if Orion doesn't want to support NPMs on XP then we will not be able to take advantage of the EOC. We have many NPMs (over 20) deployed on XP computer and because of how NPM v7.7 was tested and implanted in our environment we will not be able to change the platform anytime soon. We are still waiting…
  • Thanks Network_Guru, but I already saw that. What I don't know is how to download their "on-line" help pages so that they will work locally. Greg
  • For security reasons we cannot use anything less than SNMPv3. I went through all the tools and found that several do not support SNMPv3. Here is the list: Network Sonar SNMP Sweep Subnet List Advanced CPU Load CPU Gauge Router CPU Load SNMP Real Time Graph Proxy Ping MIB Viewer MIB Walk Update System MIB Remote TCP Session…

  • It shows the checking of the table structure and ends, it doesn't show the error I explained before. I get a dialog box though that states such. Greg
  • I did try that but, I cannot run the EOC installer on XP it says it can only be installed on Server 2003.
  • I noticed that the curent version 9.2.047 only partially support SNMPv3. What is the plan to fully integrate SNMPv3 into the tools? Thanks.

  • OK, I'll describe it in more detail. When Orion was originally setup someone added the serial port of a Cisco router using its assigned IP address as nodes instead of adding the router and having the serial ports as interfaces under the Cisco router. That being said I would like to move the IMCP statistics collected when…
  • Is it possible to download the web based help files to use on my local IIS?
  • I'm having the same problem. Any word on when the hotfix will be available?
  • I'm getting the same (similar) error when upgrading to SQL Express 2005 and I'm still using Orion 7.7, but in the process of upgrading to Orion 8.5. I get the error after upgrading to SQL Express 2005 and running the Orion configuration wizard. It gets to the Create Database User Account then after entering a password I…
  • I found what I was looking for. You need to create a map with only the interfaces you want to know the status of and then link your node icon (I use a custom map) to the new map. The status color of the node will change if one interface goes down. If anyone has a better way please share.
  • I found one that works with Orion at: http://marksw.com/snmpv3agent/windowsagent.html
  • Looks like this was corrected in Version 8.x.
  • I am running into this same error when using SNMPv3 on a Windows 2003 server. The funny thing is that it works fine when using SNMPv2, but I'm mandated to use v3. Can anyone help us? Greg
