Was looking to do this today after we found a TP-LINK device (b0487a*) on our network. Another way to solve this would be to have the whitelist use regular expressions rather than simple wildcard matching. I'd really like to see both.

Thanks for that link. Wow. 11.0RC's addition of remote sensors is neat and might be somewhat useful, but 12.0 Beta crosses 3 of my biggest gripes off my list, and adds 3 new features that I really want.

It's disappointing that this ticket was open on Nov 16, 2012, and almost 2 years later, there's still no real solution. I have a fresh install of 10.7, and I'm getting alerted on 'Bias Current Sensor' and 'Receive Power Sensor' from a transmitter on an interface that is admin down. Reading this thread, the 'Current…

Awakening an old thread, eh? But anyhow, the graph you attached is correct. The top section is showing throughput in bits per second, but the table at the bottom is showing total traffic for the selected time period.
-
Did either of you open tickets on these issues? I may have to open a ticket and I could reference them. I'm having similar problems with a 2-3 DC's (out of about 25) reporting that ominous message.

Then I stand by my original statement that the limit is an artificial one imposed by software, and that the "Unlimited" in "Network Performance Monitor - Unlimited Elements" is patently false. I see your logic if you separate NPM from the poller, but they aren't separate. They come bundled together under one sku that bills…

This is a different experience than me. I usually have this issue once or twice per day on seemingly random DC's. If I don't do anything, it will autorecover and the next day I'll have a different DC reporting the error.

I'm hitting my head against the wall with the limitations of NCM reporting, myself. I'm anxiously awaiting NCM 7.4 as it looks like they've improved it quite a bit.
-
Upgrading to 3.3.5 appears to have resolved the issue, and we haven't run into any new bugs that would make me regret the upgrade.

That is a helpful link that explains a lot about the calculation of the dynamic baseline thresholds, but I'm still unclear on how to take advantage of these thresholds in the advanced alert manager so that I can customize the email message, contents, recovery periods, etc.
-
Just a thought, but would it be possible to script something to update the descriptions based on the current port configuration? I'm about to start with NCM, and it would be nice if I could use NCM to make my port descriptions "compatible" with NCM best practices (and are these spelled out anywhere?).

I suppose. Seems like my view is then going to be cluttered with charts. Having come from open source rrd-based solutions like cacti, I had hoped for a good ability to drill down to the data I want to see.
-
That works. Thank you!
-
Thank you for this! It was the "* threshold is reached" criteria I was missing. They should really update it to ship with alerts based off these instead of the hardcoded 200ms.
-
I'm opening a support case on this, because it was not my understanding at all. If I don't have to purchase licensing for an APE, that's a relief, and will be news to my salesperson. However, I don't think this is the correct answer, as the price list you linked to includes an entry for: SolarWinds Additional Polling…

Just to be clear, your recommendation is that any layer 2 access switches and their respective layer 3 gateways should be added, but that pure infrastructure devices shouldn't be? Anybody else?
-
Looks super useful. Thank you for sharing.
-
Is there a way to do this in a custom HTML box? I'd rather add it to each (or every) page than edit the HTML files on the server. But this is great, and should get integrated into Solarwinds.

"Following recent UDT 3.2.2 Service release" Was this released? I saw that 3.2.1 had been released, and then was almost immediately pulled back (with almost no news about why, something about waiting until 3.2.2). My portal still shows 3.2.0 as the latest release.
-
Thanks. I actually hadn't found this, but made it part of our routine to check the custom query box on our summary page. An alert will be more useful to stir others into action.
-
Thanks for this. Any way to make it into an alert in 11.5 now that it's web based? I can't find a place to put in SQL.

I haven't seen an announcement for RC3, but it's available on the downloads page. I'm very excited about the features. World Map using SNMP location is making everything a lot easier to set up some cool maps. Looks like there are still a number of issues with alerts either not triggering or (more often for me) not…

So, I guess I should have just tried it. I initially wrote: CLI { conf t logging buffered 16384 end wr } This gave me errors on the first and last lines. Redoing it with just the commands appears to work fine. However, that brings up the next question: Is there any way to do more complex structure (a la configuration…

Somewhere, I found a reference that the SNMP Location String needs to be something that can be parsed by mapquest.com. So far, this seems true in my testing. I have a lot of obscure addresses in China, so I've been playing with them on mapquest.com until I get them to be identified correctly, and then I place that into the…

So, FWIW, here's the solution I came up with: 1) I've added custom properties "BackupRunning" and "BackupStartup" to all nodes, and made them required fields. 2) I set the nightly backup jobs to backup startup configs from all nodes with "BackupStartup == True". 3) Shortly after, I have a nightly backup job that will…

If this isn't possible, you should submit a feature request. I'd definitely vote it up. I don't like that I make 4 changes to a switch, I get 4 emails about it. I'd much rather have a slight delay and get one consolidated message.
-
Same issue here. Did you figure anything out? I'm trying to do a path to localhost, and the 'test credentials' button works, but when I run the schedule it fails.
-
What version of IOS are your switches running? We have this same issue on a stack of 3850's we have. I have an outage tomorrow morning to upgrade from 3.2.3 to 3.3.5 on Cisco TAC's advice to hopefully resolve the issue. I'll try to remember to report back.

Settings->Web Console Settings Page Refresh is third option from the top. HTH.
