I uploaded a new set of walks.... Let me know if I can do anything... (I'm back from a long vacation)

sub groups is bad wording. I was thinking about statistics such as hash, GF Group, IKE Mode, Auth mode.... stuff like that. It helps the help desk see what the connections are so they can talk to the owners intelligently.

You have to have a connector for the incoming logs. SSH into the CMC and login. type application and hit enter. then run "checklogs" to see which facility the data is coming from. Then you need to create a connector in the GUI to read that data. I don't know that FW, so you may have to try different connectors until you…

Totally agree.... SNMP is faster and when you have 15,000 elements its much nicer to the CPU and polling intervals. We use WMI for our almost 700 applications and if there are alot of components it can sometimes timeout. I say use SNMP for basic monitoring and WMI for the detailed items like applications....

My company is extremely intrested in automatic subnet discovery. My idea is to pull from the layer three switches/routers. You could have a "switch" to turn on discovery for that device, similar to a custom property... We have over 20,000 live IP's and we are looking to add many many more... so manually adding all these…

I see that Log Manager maxes out at 1000 node licenses. What can I do if I need about 600 servers and 800 network devices?
-
For our NOC, they are intrested in Alerts, but many other things as well to help with coorelation. I use the "Events-Filtered" recource and filter for only type 5000 events (alerts) and all my alerts trigger to the console. Now my OPS guys only see alerts that they need to act on. The NOC sees the alerts plus a few other…

BTW: UDT is terrific.... We implemented and before I could train anyone, it was getting huge praise from all departments nationwide. Easy to use, and very informative.

Display the nodes graphically, then allow the user to move them as needed. Click save to create the dependency. Or "import" dependencies from Atlas.

A lot can happen in 5 minutes and I cannot have an event list scroll further then the end of the screen on a single refresh. With over 10000 elements and many critical items and applications/processes, things can change quickly. So yes, 1 minute updates is where the big monitoring screens need to be, and therefore all…

This is an idea here: http://thwack.solarwinds.com/ideas/1139 Please vote this up and comment to make the snmp trap and syslog a higher priority for development.

Sorry, got delayed... damn EIGRP!!
-
Gateways are Cisco 3845 and the Callmanager is running 6.1
-
Funny you bring that up, a manager just asked me for status on if v12 will have that feature.... One day.... when I'm old a grey.... oh wait... that would be today then!! ok... when I retire it will become reality.... we gotta have something to complain about!
-
Funny, I was wondering this same question this morning. I have almost 20,000 used IP addresses and I would like to see what impact this has on my polling engines. If it is reflected in the polling engine rate then that is a good start. I'll respond here if I find the answer, I'll look in the knowledgebase during my next…

Your soooo correct. Solarwinds is a different company. They should be the model that all others try to emulate.
-
did you change the HTML code?

I totally agree with Mustafa and smartd. How long a resource is down is very important and filtered events is the center of all my dashboards.
-
I 100% agree... This would bring Solarwinds to the next level. We would definetly be in line for this....
-
when???? It's been 5 years since this post and still no ability to use advanced alerts on traps....
-
The Meraki tools are very nice, but we need to have a single dashboard that our remote IT folks can see as well as our corporate users. We have thousands of AP's and the move to Meraki would be cost prohibitive. We like the heatmaps, its just slow to take the signal samples. I have to have the people stand there for about…

I've also noticed that Cisco 1231 AP's have no hardware data either, not even a SN#. 10.4 is terrific by the way!!
-
Yes, SAM 5.2 . Hardware health is on my other 687 Cisco devices it seems, but this paticular switch model has no health summary.... Not a big deal, just trying to provide some feedback....

I agree about the searching, a more granular search ability would be a welcome improvement. I would love to only search comments less than a year old, or on part of these forums, or similar stuff. Thwack is terrific but as it grows you need to help organize it better. Since my desk is a disaster I'm not the best to say…

I am struggling with the Oracle side right now. Not many resources available. When I find something I'll update here...
-
I dont have this resource. Do I need to add it somewhere? Thanks

Here is how to stop it: Stop the UDT log file - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help and Support Here is how to move it: Move UDT temp logs from the C: drive to another drive - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help and Support
-
Was there a fix for this?
-
Thanks for providing this it is very helpful. What does the -v do at the end of the command line? I can't find that anywhere...
