I have a similar situation, although I am using EIGRP and my secondary link is DMVPN. I use NTA to let me know traffic patterns, in other words when traffic ends on a link it alerts me. This way the interfce may be up/up but if no traffic is traversing (or almost none) then it will alert to let me know we failed over to…

That hurts.... We spent hours creating groups just for using in limitations.... now we have to re arch the whole idea....
-
The hotfix did fix it.... back to lovin life!!
-
We will be testing this later today and I will update here if Server side rules work.
-
Bummer... We were really looking forward to that new report writer. Management wants better reports and more data per report and the current report writer is way to basic to provide what we need. Oh well, better to wait and do it right...

Vote for this to be built in here: https://thwack.solarwinds.com/ideas/2121

Option A is the prefered for the recent companies I have been associated with. The config, change, and inventory reports would be great to have integrated with Orion, possibly buttons off the node view. We currently have 1000 nodes in Cirrus and have it running on it's own server. Will Cirrus have to be on the Orion…

awesome... thanks.... God forbid I actually read the manual....

Yes, you will need a component for each process. But a really cool way to create this is using the "Find Processes..." in the APM Settings page. This is great because you can look at the actual server and what services/processes that are running and click them to create component monitors. Then once you select them you can…

We are having similar issues with groups and alert variables in 11.5.1 Plus Have you seen where the business layer host service restarts due to low virtual memory? (before of after 11.5.2)
-
We have had many issues with 11.5 but after going to 11.5.1 things are looking better. byrona please let us know how your install goes. I am very happy to see actual service releases instead of hot fixes. Helps me in change control meetings :-)

sounds great

ditto.... My security team wants splunk.... loss of features like this are making me lose the battle.

Alert Central is a great product but many of us cannot keep adding systems. Plus it must be maintained, which takes more resources from a team that is already WAY over worked. Having the alerts all together within one engine is the right way to handle this and I'm sure SW will do a great job making it happen.
-
We currently use email in the alert engine to open tickets in Remedy, but I would like to create a report or a view that would show all alerts and thier corresponding ticket with status. We generate about one hundred tickets a day and cant manually add the ticket numbers to the custom properties. So, we are lookig at…

First, let me thank you for looking at this for me... I REALLLY APPRECIATE it. I'm adding the whole script below. I didn't write it, one of our overworked UNIX guys did it for me and I just manipulated it a bit for the 10 messages. It looks at a log file looking for the first field (Event Number) to equal 101, 102, 111, or…

Utilizing syslogs and traps for this is easily done. The problem in my opinion is the terrible alerting engine in the syslog/trap application in Orion along with the almost nonexistant integration in Orion.
-
That would make me look like a god! Thanks!!
-
Did this fix all the issues? Are you running normally now?
-
Did this ever get answered? I am running 12.2(31)SGA3 on all my 4500's. "SH IP DHCP POOL" is not an available command. I have about 40 of these switches...

If the NOC had information about active calls they can troubleshoot better. Issues are that we have to go to different groups (telcomm) to get this type of information. We need as much VoIP data as we can get. IPSLA will say everything is great, but the users will complain of jitter or dropped calls. We need to see deeper…

Yes this is a known issue as you referenced in the UDT 2.0 release notes. http://www.solarwinds.com/documentation/udt/docs/ReleaseNotes/releaseNotes.htm This is a HUGE issue for us. ALL of our laptops and user systems connect via a Cisco phone. If I knew this I most likely would not have made this purchase. We are going to…

As soon as I clean up my yard I'll open that ticket

byrona I totally agree. I need reports/alerts in LEM that look for users with excessive traffic, or multiple IP's that are talking to the same IP for a period of time. This netflow data is extremely helpful in a SEIM. Looking forward to more capabilities for netflow in LEM.

CAN'T WAIT!!!!!

If possible, I would love to be a part of this BETA. I have an extra VM I can use.... Thanks

I totally agree with "It is awfully frustrating that the trap viewer has different alerting actions than the alert configuration" We NEED to use advanced alerting engine with traps!!!!
-
We wanted to do this for years using BMC Remedy but lack of SQL talent and available time has left it a dream. Our idea was to create a custom field or fields for nodes and pull a unique identifier for that same asset in Remedy DB. We would import that identifier into the solarwinds DB for all nodes and hopefully run that…

THIS IS A HUGE ISSUE!!!! What else could be affected and not be showing its ugly head????

You nailed it!!... my Unix guys kept telling me its Orion, so when I logged in to try the script manually I got "password expired" THANKS!!
