  • Of course. Even keeping good customers like ourselves satisfied has to take a back seat to increasing revenue. Steve Extrand Sr Network Analyst (1) Orion v10 SLX polling engine & Additional Web Server 35500 elements (4) Orion v10 SLX polling engine (3) NTA v3.8 1400 interfaces (3) IPSLA SLAX
  • Marie, It's a bit past Wednesday. Can we please get an update on where this stands? Is this functionality in 10.2?
  • Well, thus far I don't see it fixed in 10.2 RC3. Perhaps we can shame SolarWinds into including it before they package the final release of 10.2, but somehow I doubt it. • Thanks Mike, I will take a look at this- it looks helpful, although I think something as basic as a Chronic Alert should be included in a Network Performance Monitoring product. I love the ability to customize Orion, but there are basic things that should be there already. Is anyone's network not troubled by chronic…
  • Well, I for one think you have totally missed what we, your customers, have been asking for. Looking back over this thread I think it was perfectly clear that we wanted a tool we could use to identify our EOS/EOL and PSIRT items to facilitate our removal of CiscoWorks in our environments. This is not what we were asking…
  • Jiri, Each interface on the device would need to be parsed, looking for the existence of the command "ip-helper" if the command was present, two new ip-helpers need to be added to that interface. If the command is not present, the interface is skipped and the next would be examined. I suppose one way to look for it would…
  • Elastic price list. Love it. I just sent off a lenghty e-mail to the sales execs and that was one of my points. Every other vendor I deal with- every single one- offers me a discount, typically 20-50%. Why be different? Why do this monthly we are "running a sale" dance? I'm a long term customer, I know SolarWinds offers…
  • Unfortunately, the latest RC release (10.2 RC3) of NPM still doesn't include a way to deal with this. I'm sure that it is "on the developers list", though. Seems like an exercise in futility. I know that every feature request cannot be honored, but this one seems so simple, the coding so minor, you would think... Steve…
  • Over two years now- you guys seem to have dropped it, but I refuse to. This is something that is needed by many of us but seems not to be a priority for you (deploying new modules seems to be the priority). Honestly, if you choose not to work on this I would prefer a straight answer rather than occasional responses that…
  • Yes, an admin can certainly just disable the approval system, but that event should be logged too :-). I would expect though, that with approvals in place an admin requesting a change would need approval as well. Perhaps a setting that allows or denys any user from approving their own requests. That should be something you…
  • I am in no way associated with Dave or Rosieodonnel, but I third, fourth and fifth the request. "Spelling is hard- using Network Sonar should not be harder"
  • I don't think that an issue that has been around as long as this one has could realistically be called a priority. If one of your developers has had this on his to-do list since it first came out, you need a new developer, because the job isn't getting done. I have complained in the past over the rush to add new features…
  • Issue resolved yesterday. Apparently a .dll was missing. Infragistics2.WebUI.UltraWebChart.v8.2.dll. Replaced the file and restarted IIS, back in business.
  • Hi Christine, For item 1, the primary use for this today is to see what interface options are on the remote device. I could certainly create a custom HTML to display, for example, a 3800 series router, but that would not, without a lot of effort, show the active interfaces in that router. Item 2- Automatic retrieval is…
  • Hi Marie, We are approaching the second year on this request. Is this something we can expect or do you not see the need for it your customers do?
  • Hi Jiri, 6 month bump. Any details you can disclose?
  • Thanks Jiri, I'll start looking for other products that have this functionality then, because its a major issue for us. A "Configuration Manager" should be able to manage all aspects of the configuration, IMO. We do have a Kiwi license, but I've not worked with it yet, hopefully it's a bit more advanced and can do this.…
  •  Unfortunately, I'm finding that even "Found" devices are a bit unreliable. Many duplicates are created during discovery of devices like 6509 switches with multiple vlan interfaces, and inexplicably, as I'm finding out this afternoon, existing nodes are re-discovered under their current managed address. All of the…
  • Took a while to figure out how to get around the license difference, but I was able to add devices to UDT and run scans. Definitely my error and not a limitation of the license. Issue I am now having is while I do discover MAC addresses, I have been unable to see a mapping to the device IP address. Not sure what is going…
  • Repair has been run several times. Case is 709352, still not resolved after two weeks.
  • Glad to help. Sometimes good enough is good enough, especially when perfect can be such a pain to achieve.
  • Bump Any progress on these? Must have: - C) All users subject to approval (including Administrators) - G) Approved Requests to be returned to Requester for execution (would be in addition to today's mode - approved requests executed right away - not in replacement) - F) Approved Requests to be executed at specified…
  • Take that a step further- be able to search the entire DB for any string you want. Interface descriptions, serial numbers, locations, contacts, anything in the DB at all, searchable from the web interface, without writing a custom report- sometimes (most of the time) you need something on the fly, and you need it quick. I…
  • Where does this functionality stand now? irelandt's solution, while inventive, shouldn't be an example of the lenghths we need to go to to make this work. We can create a UnDP for it, why is it so difficult to make use of that data for alerting purposes? Why, when selecting a poller name from the custom node pollers menu,…
  • I'm going through that now. Downloaded a copy of the TFTP server, which generated a flurry of sales activity, and got a quote for an additional poller- which has generated its own storm. Actually ordered the poller, unfortunately the discounts expire so quickly that its difficult to get them through our procurement system…

  • You can add me as a requester for nested policy support. We recently transitioned several Ethernet connections to tagged configurations, requiring CB policies nested in Ethernet policies applied to sub-interfaces. The locations for this are our primary hubs, and we lose the CBQoS information for those interfaces, something…
  • After running the required Sonar discovery- the only ports that UDT is monitoring are the 412 ports that are on the 11 devices that were already in my NPM database. None of the 2000 ports discovered during the UDT scan are being monitored by UDT, because my NPM license will not allow them to be imported. This would not be…
  • I think rob.hock is right on this. Download a separate eval license, monitor everything and see what it totals, cut out the things you are not interested in, and you should have your element count. You are probably a bit light with 100 element licenses.
  • When can we expect to see some resolutions to these? Since the scheduled discovery "feature" was added, there have been nummerous threads regarding its functionality (or lack therof), but I have not seen any changes whatsoever make their way into the updates. I would love to have the countless hours I have wasted…
  • Thanks Rob, Let me know if I need to open a ticket to track this.
