I'd like to take a look too Rob.

It's truly shocking that something so basic isn't implemented already. Granular access levels are not a bleeding edge requirement. I still had some hair when this was first requested, but then SolarWinds has always prioritized developing the latest whiz-bang applet over fixing basic functionality and security holes.

Lots of workarounds for what should be a basic function of NPM. This should be out of the box functionality. Hardware health shows fan status, power supplies, and temperature for all stack members, but you have to use a UnDP to pull stack member serial numbers (but not in NCM, which obtains them, but mysteriously fails to…

This one just came up in an internal discussion. The addition of UDT allows us to enable/disable a port, but its become important for us to allow lower skilled IT folks to be able to check and/or change Duplex, Speed and VLANS as well as enable/disable. This seems a natural enhancement to what is already there. Maintaining…

Rob, This remains the most frustrating thing about SolarWinds to me, and likely many others. Your products are, for the most part, great. Your propensity for adding half-baked new features while long time corporate customers plead with you to fix existing issues is most irritating. You (your company, not necessarily you…

Hi Jiri, This and the other request seem like something fairly straightforward. Any chance of seeing this in our lifetimes? Extreme painful and a huge time waster to have to recreate the jobs because Orion wasn't able to login to a device- particularly when there isn't a credential issue preventing it. If the problem…

I would add one additional feature. Child map status can be rolled up to higher level maps- with one exception. When a node or link goes into an unknown (grey) status, this does not roll up. It definitely needs to IMHO. We create maps to see status. If something, anything, changes on a nested map, wouldn't you want that to…

Install of beta fails. SQL express installs, but will not connect, and connection to production DB server will not allow the creation of a new database.
-
Looking at BetaV2, I have the same concerns as before. The port management feature still appears to be without a validation check, for any user with node management rights, and there is no audit trail. No user, regardless of rights, should be able to shut down or enable any port, on any switch or router, simply by clicking…

No, I simply mean that the interface bandwidth as configured on the interface, be displayed. If a 45M Serial interface is being viewed, but the configured bandwidth is 10M because the connected port is a subrate of the access circuit, it displaying the actual configured bandwidth, on the graph would be desireable. Looking…

So you have made it impossible for me to upgrade to 3.0. I'm so glad for the opportunity to participate in the Beta program, so I was at least able to determine that this upgrade contains a serious functional flaw- that you didn't fix- before it compromised my network. What exactly is the purpose of a beta program if not…

It does appear there is an OID for this. While waiting for SolarWinds to implement your request, you should be able to create a custom poller to pull this, should you be so inclined. Testing UDT 3.0.0 Beta now. Port Shutdown feature- Concerned that there is no verification when shutting down a port. Lesser concern for enabling, but having the ability for anyone with node management rights (and the SNMP write community set) to disable any or all ports on a switch or router is a concern. Another concern…

Hi Jiri, Were the issues I outlined addressed in the new RC?
-
This one just became a priority issue for us, as we are implementing a CMDB for asset management. I need to provide a daily feed from Orion to the CMDB of the inventory information contained in Orion. Going to the web interface each and every day and exporting reports in XLS or CSV is laughable. If the ability to save…

I can.

Essentially a show view as <user>? Definite +1

Yes. Yes, Yes, Yes, a thousand times Yes. Can you spell granularity? I knew that you could. Can you add it as a feature? Please? Let the administrators decide what is monitored, and what is not. Great feature, great capability, but let me decide what I want monitored and displayed.

At least one more release wluther, as always, at least one more release. Created June 21, 2012, 389 up votes, not implemented in 636 days (and how many product update releases) and counting.

Implemented yes, but limited. One custom property- "City" I created necessarily ended up with a large number of entries. After some number of entries- never did figure the "magic" number but over 100 for sure, the list reset to only those on the screen I was currently working on, all others lost. If this limit is…

Accompanied by a field requiring the user to provide a reason for the unmanage, yes.

VoIP and Network Quality is where this one gets me the most. In order for someone to be able to add/delete/modify an IPSLA session, they must have admin, not node management rights. I don't want to grant our VoIP team admin rights, which makes the module they need the most unusable to them- which requires my admins to…

I would say this needs to be across the board. NPM has the same issue with the hardware details. The fan and power supply sensors realize that there are stacked devices, bowever the hardware details does not and you have to create a UnDP to pull it. If you are going to provide hardware details- do it completely, not half…

@rob.hock How about some PM comment here? Cisco 3750's are starting to go end of support and are still listed only as machine type Catalyst 37xx Stack. If I can use a custom poller to pull the correct model (and by the way identify the members of a stack)- why is this not a supported feature in Orion. NCM has the same…
-
Don't be so pessimistic. I'm sure this will make it into NPM 17.3.01.7.
-
Despite the issue with the lack of controls on the feature, if addressed, its a very useful thing to have. Would be nice to have the ability to change the VLAN from the same interface as well. Heck, I might never use telnet again!
-
I'm going to chime in here too. We run an SLX license of NPM, NTA, and IPSLA. I have been looking to add NCM, specifically for the user tracking feature, to retire our CiscoWorks implementation. Installed NCM on my test box- (why I have to purchase and maintain a 100 license test box is an issue for a different thread)-…

We are seeing the same behavior. It would be very beneficial to see the DNS name of the AP resolved in this view. It would also be desirable to see the individual AP's in maps rather than just the controller. Adding the individual AP's as just ICMP nodes isn't really very helpful.

The CBWFQ reporting in NTA is great, and is a big help. Is it possible though to create an alert when a threshold is crossed for traffic in a particular queue? For example, with our WAN carrier, we subscribe to a certain amount of EF tagged traffic, say 3M. We want to be proactively notified via alert when traffic…
