  • I'm completely bummed by this. Cloud is not a solution for every enterprise: we have prohibitions on running our data and emails outside of our enterprise. You should have kept AC available for us, or have a project to make NPM better at alerting, or have a subscription-solution that can be run in-house.
  • Mav, what steps do I take to change the EventTypes.Record flag from 1 to 0? For example, for events that match "User defined Transmit Bandwidth changed from 100000000 to 10000000 bps" Esam
  • Sorry, how would I peruse those tables?
  • We have five Trapeze MX and over a hundred APs. Five more votes for Trapeze!
  • I want to clarify that qle's post is not a direct answer to the original start of this thread. If you write your alert descriptions with details regarding what will trigger the alert, then the query above will get you somewhere, but it will not give you a list of each node and what alerts trigger off of that node. My…
  • Thank-you, Quang! That works great and is exactly what i was looking for. How would I find the table and field names, if I wished to expand upon this? For others reading this, I went to Orion report writer and selected File : New Report. In that list there is Advanced SQL, where I clicked OK. I typed what was specified by…
  • I am adding my request to the others here: there needs to be some way to suppress or filter things so that they do not create an event. We manage our Cisco user ports so that we can collect usage data and see where the high utilization is. I have every user port as 'unplugged', and in addition have created a custom field…
  • We use Trapeze and are considering becoming NPM customers. Intercepting traps from the MX and alerting us about them is a requirement.
  • Thanks Bahlkris, and others, Since the upgrade to NPM 10.4, we have been seeing the same thing, but only on one of our X2-10GB-SRs. it just happens to be pair of an ether-channeled pair that is important to us. You saved me the time and trouble of researching this bias current sensor error on Cisco.com! - esam
  • I am looking for pretty much the same thing. A competitor of SW has a place where all of the nodes are listed on the left, with a row for each action that is taken. That web display is available as a printable item, which can then be saved in MS Office format. I would be happy with a list of alerts and their matching…
  • Where would I find the poller to import? Above, where you state: 3 b. Navigate to the location of the poller to import. , where is that location? Do you mean that I can download MiBs and import them as pollers? In other words, what is an imported poller and where would I find them?
  • Thanks, but what is SAM? Is it something that can be integrated with NPM ?
  • My problem with Alert Manager is that a New or Edit command sends the CPU into hyperdrive: 100% for as long as I leave the process running. Do you expect that that could be environmental, as well? I am running NPM in eval mode; no support, yet. Don't know if I would be allowed to remove and replace with another download.…
  • We got it back by finally re-installing NPM 11.5. Am pursuing the fix from support.
  • Greg, Any word on reducing functionality so that UAC does not prompt me for an Admin level password every single time I click, refresh, or change the page on my IE8 system? I am just installing a fresh NPM on a system that will run in a secure environment. Use of admin rights is strictly controlled. Use of other browsers…
  • Detroiter, Do you run that as a query in SQL Management Studio?
  • I am eager to hear of a way to change what is reported in the Event viewer. I have added a custom property to my interfaces, and I would like to be able to supress the link up event based on the value of the custom property. The low-value interfaces are also "unplugged" when down. In fact, I am OK with all events having to…
  • Sneaker's info was great: I used it to repeatedly run the netstat and compare PID info in Task Manager. What I found, though, was on our Windows2008 R2 server, I had to stop the server's SNMP Trap, and then restart the SolarWinds Trap Service, rather than have them both running.. If I run the server's SNMP Trap service, it…
  • Thank-you Gob and matthew b, It took reading all of the posts and figuring out that I could not use this to change the "Events" page. I now have the unplugged interfaces not showing up as "Up" on my Summary page's Events.filtered box. NPM 10.1 SP1, about to try 10.2.
  • Thanks rg, that helps. It's a Cisco bug in that IOS, and we are not going to upgrade to a non-vtp supporting image. For now, I am going to filter out those interfaces on our NPM by using the custom field "SLA" that I already have on all monitored interfaces. Majority of access-layer ports are all of SLA value "0", meaning…
  • we see the same thing from our 3750s, even when not in a stack. These are all Cisco C3750Gs, running 12.2.53 SE2, When I run the cli "show interface counter error", though, I do see out discards being reported on these ports. We are running NPM 10.4
  • We saw the same problem. Have opened a case, but also have done a roll-back of the .NET patch to uninstall 4.6 (& 4.6.1). That action was insufficient to solve this, with the caveat that we already took the action of uninstalling SWIS and reinstalling with the Information service msi, prior to finding the .net 4.6 install…
  • Me three - Any recommendations woudl be helpful. Having problems.
  • Is there any talk of making application monitors that run in IPv6? Sure, I can do a built-in HTTP app monitor to my IPv6-addressed HTTP server, and that is great, but my IPv6 resident experts say that the internals of that monitor are still running IPv4. The interest here is for DNS and HTTP/HTTPS app monitors that…
  • Has anyone heard of a way to throttle emails out if the conditions cause a storm of alerts, in a global way on the server? I have run into situations (okay, caused is a better word) where thousands of emails go out due to the wording of the alert. My Exchange god can block them eventually, but is there a way for the NPM…
  • I have the same issue with ports that I must watch on Cisco switches. I checked the unplugged as well, but I still get events every time the interface comes up, and if it negotiates a bandwidth. I even created a custom field called "dowecare". I have the trigger set to dowecare equal to yes. The suppression is when…
  • I have a separate alert for packet loss; it only goes to a limited distribution of staff. The node down alerts are separated out into alerts by dept., but each one of them goes to a larger distributed list than packet loss. So yes, but it is clearer to do those two things as two different alerts in advanced alerts: one for…
  • There is a lot to like about 10.4, particularly the charts with mouse-over data points and time-zoom, and hardware health, cool ! seems like some of the snmp polling of Linux 6 / Squid 3 has changed back to Squid 2 snmp-gets, though. My proxy server admin says that where 10.3.1 was polling OID 3495.1.3.2.1.15, the new 10.4…
