  • The other thing I've noticed is that the maps aren't nearly as friendly. Before the upgrade, I had 4 maps that were roatated through an IFRAME that changed every 30 seconds. It worked very well and our Service Desk really liked it. Now, the maps will load for a little bit but by the time the second rotation comes around I…
  • They should be configured by default out of the box. (The Liebert/Emerson UPS's we use do.) You just need to connect to the SNMP card with a serial cable or connect to the web interface and adjust the settings.
  • I don't know if this helps but before we purchased Orion, one of our Managed Service Providers gave us access to our devices using Orion. All we could see were our devices.
  • We are in the process of doing the same thing for our SmartNet agreement. I used the Entity MIB that was mentioned above in the UnDP then created an Advanced SQL report to pull out the data. We only have a couple of stacked switches so I wasn't too worried about them but the report is working well. We've limited it to…
  • We're an MPLS consumer. For the most part the MPLS network is invisable to us. We have a connection to our carrier and establish a BGP peer with them. Outside of that, we don't see anything that is actually MPLS related. We use the connection for everything but do rely on QoS for our Voice traffic. We have two types of…
  • I haven't had a chance to install SP4 yet but I do have a question. Are the checkmarks saved across pages? IE: If I need to check 3 devices on page 1, 5 on page 2, and 1 on page 3, can I do it in one process or will have to do it in 3 processes?
  • Hi Jayesh, When I first started messing around with real time change detection, I tried traps as well. I got it working but not as I hoped. I switched from using SNMP Traps to syslog and it worked much much better and I was very happy with the result. An event was generated everytime someone left config mode. This made it…
  • We've been seeing the same thing on a device that we are doing icmp only and have set as a dhcp address. I believe I saw it flap over 350 times in one day. I just checked it and it is at 166 times today and its only 9:00 am.
  • I've started to notice some gaps around 3 and 6 am. I had some devices that gaped before but it seems to happen more often now.
  • I feel your pain. I started trying to create a template today and I'm having a hard time trying to figure out how to do something that should be simple. I wish there was more detailed documentation for the language. I have no problem with SW creating their own scripting language for NCM but they really need to provide more…
  • You should be able to set the format as enumeration and then click Map Values. That should get you what you need.
  • We ended up finding the problem but I'm still interested in finding a way to do this. I think it can be very beneficial. I looked at creating a custom view to do this, but it doesn't look like that exact ability is built right in. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!
  • I ended up opening a support case. I had to add &AccountID=Guest to the URL to get it to email properly. I'm not 100% sure what changed but it works for now.
  • I agree with the above. The MOS graphs would be much nicer if they maxed out at 5. It would be much easier to see the changes quickly. Any type of PRI capactity monitoring would be nice.
  • Hi kahmeelyon! We use the exact setup that you are talking about. We have our NPM instance reciving all the traps and syslog information then inside the syslog rules we created a rule just like the admin guide shows for NCM. We have our alert action set to Execute ConfigAutoDownload.exe ${IP} It has been working great!
  • Hieu, You can select your own relative time period. We use 5 minutes a lot when we're troubleshooting flows. Just hit the little orange and white down arrow, select relative time peroid, enter 2 minutes and hit submit.
  • We've only had to use it once and it worked. We have a proxy and had to install the firewall client to get it to work.
  • Hi HBrandNSB, You may want to take a look at this thread: In it, there is a custom resource that lists all the interfaces on a single device. It might do some of what you need. If you need basic help with it, let me know. Eric
  • I know I'm not quite a customer at this point, but we've been heavily demoing Orion for a little over 2 weeks and like what we see. One of the main reasons we started looking at Orion was becasuse of the VoIP module. One thing that we would love to be able to track is calls on our voice gateways. Most of our gateways are…
  • Is anyone else having this problem?
  • I'm interested in this as well as we have a couple EVA's.
  • From: Workaround: In the Filter Nodes (SQL) field of the Resource add "order by 'Caption' asc" (no double quotes) to the end or the line.
  • Sam, Right now we've got VoIP Monitor and it is great for checking the links but currently doesn't give much visibility into how our CUCM envrionment is running. We've got RTMT running on a machine and use that to check our VoIP envrionment.
  • Hello Calremo, We had the same issue. We had two pollers both running over 9000 elements. (One was close to 10k) Randomly we'd have services crashing on our main poller. We purchased an additional poller and things have been much more stable since we've gotten the count down. (Our main poller still has 8300 elements and is…
  • Along with the question above, it is also possible to have one NPM server forward a syslog or trap message to the other NPM server that I could then call the configautodownload from? I don't want to have to send all the logging information to one server. I would like to only send the needed information for a RTCD.
  • I just noticed the same thing only its different from what I've seen before. We have a system in place that monitors the database updates. This time it seems like Orion is communicating with the database but not putting any data in there. (At least for the device I was looking at.) The response time and packet loss graph…
  • We've got about 20k total elements and run our DB server from a SAN. (Our Pollers are VM's running on EXS boxes that are attached to the SAN as well.) We have a few performance issues but it is much better than we had previously seen. At one point or SQL Server was a VM that was attached to the SAN. The web interface was…
  • Hi Rob, No problem at all. I get asked this all the time from the people that use our NPM Server. Currently, there isn't anyway to have those interfaces automatically added as far as I know. We had the same problem so we added a filter to our nodes with problems page. Under "Filter Nodes" we added: Status<>1 That way we…
  • I have a support case open with that same question right now. I noticed when you try to do the import and it asks to match the fields there is a field called "EnableOrionImport" I tried to set a yes/no custom property on my nodes but that didn't work. When I get some information, I'll share it here.
  • Hi Saby, It will really depend on what you are polling. If you are polling a router with a few interfaces, you'll have a certain amount of bandwidth. If you're polling all ports on a bunch of switches, you'll use much more bandwidth. People have noticed on our netflow graph that one of the top 10 endpoints is almost always…
