I'm rolling out another NPM/SAM installation on an air gapped network and will be following this process soon again. Establishing the baseline and monitoring from there going forward.

We always have super fun time at SWUG's here in Phoenix! The last one was really cool because almost everyone was here from SolarWinds THWACK along with execs too.

I used to do the healthcare industry back in 90's when HIPPA was just starting up... it's a lot of work in some ways similar to what I do now but maybe not funded as well.
-
That is true... but I can argue that at least two other answers are also true for IP Address Manager, although I could guess at what they were looking for because of the close wording. That's what I was alluding to as well.

Couldn't the new work with raspberry pi help with this maybe? aLTeReGo been working on? Also doesn't SAM do some of this today already with an agent running on windows server?
-
And @"ForrestSwick" it's open to everyone. Pretty neat.

Of course cyber attacks are a concern and it's the old not if but when.

I thought maybe it was a joke kinda like the two person Thwack cart!

This is a big thing where I work. We do crypto and broken crypto is really bad. The first area being worked is on secure key exchange using quantum technology. This is the age old problem... how do you trust and then exchange keys with someone on the other end? Oh and I really like the Setec Astronomy ie. too many secrets.…

I liked the part about wait until you see the bill at the end of the month! And remember you'll keep getting that bill every month... forever!

It's looks like it's either Thomas or Dez that's winning.

I think everyone is pissed off about the E-fax breach! Wth is wrong with those people! It's not like we can opt out of the credit reporting agencies... it's just bad bad bad! Wow it looks like a pretty neat view from your hotel room there! Is the place pretty nice inside too???

Actually windows default is it remembers the last 24 passwords. For systems that still require a password I have a system and I do eventually reuse passwords but only after like 99 others have passed by...
-
It probably is... seems more popular with unix than windows but now with powershell and the new operating systems they are building windows may go this way very soon.
-
Actually they are trying to do this now because of the election.

Another thing about dashboards... if you haven't added the new KPI widget to your dashboard it's great to watch the Oldest Stored event occurred time, Logs/Data used storage percentage, and Logs/Data used storage. Now that I have my appliance setup correctly it's not blowing up with the snapshots anymore and aging off the…

That's why we are using splunk enterprise. I'm still watching LEM as it develops though.

Most of us got burned on this too... I be willing to bet this was the one that most of us lost on even though tftp is just about the oldest free tool. It was used by tons of people in late 90's because it was one of the only windows graphical tftpd servers around and it was free. (and btw... idk how powerful a tool with…

It is kinda a pain when the maps resize.

Happy Pi day!!!

I suppose it would depend on how much slower it is but I don't see why you couldn't have a global search.

You got side tracked Peter!!!

Today's question was pretty straight forward!

Two factor authentication on top of whatever method you use with an audit trail is pretty rock solid I'd say. If you are good with review of logs and SIEM you're even in better shape! We have the full blown splunk and I gotta say... it's not going to do much out of the box for you... for windows event logging I've used GFI…

We're currently in a status that encrypted data at rest has to be applied on new purchases only... like for example if we buy a new NAS we have to have drive encryption as part of it.
-
I agree with both you and Richard on this. It's hard to actually test and simulate a disaster.

DPI on physical interfaces takes some major horsepower... especially on 10G ports. I suppose if the whole thing happened in virtual world it might be possible. I'm not familiar with any all VM DPI??? I'm sure there is some.

@"Jfrazier" Yeah I've been using Remedy since it was a text based screen application and the company was only 12 people... suffice it to say it's gotten a LOT bigger. It's a nightmare every time they do upgrades and we always have a test environment version running first before they do the upgrade for everyone to see if…
