Monitoring storage can be tricky.

Would be great if article would explain which SolarWinds tools can be used to what with the STIGs. I know NCM has STIG templates for network hardware. SEM can help with the monitoring aspect of the STIGs. Bill

We're hoping to move some unclassified workloads to the cloud possibly. It's tough due to all the requirements around security but I think some workloads are being rethought to possibly be ok.

Lololol! Those pesky lawyers just won't let anyone give any dates!

I hope it's version 9.

I'm in the same boat abynum... as busy as I am I'm sure it'd be much worse without the Orion toolset!

Yes in addition to the HP/Aruba wireless and clearpass we also have the Palo Alto on one side of two businesses that came together. All Cisco on one side and Cisco plus core Palo Alto on the other. The only concern I have about the Palo Alto that may be unfounded is not a lot of defense in depth when you have one giant…

It was great seeing you and everyone in Orlando this year at Live and at the SWUG. I especially liked talking to Patrick about some old SolarWinds history. It was a lot of fun and I learned a lot about the direction we're headed in with this ACI and DNA Center. We had come up with a refresh architecture recently and…

We use excel with data exported monthly from solarwinds... it works... not really totally automated but we can see how things change over time... primarily circuit utlization. Lolol I just looked up I guess the bump made me type almost the same exact thing AGAIN!

I was busy on Friday and when I went to check the end of the month thing the link was broken... I'll live though. I didn't click the I did the the quiz because I hadn't yet. Oh well, some of us have to work during the day. I missed one on Thursday anyhow. Nice wins!

Wow back from Cisco Live and had to catch up a little!

Project Photon is awesome... slimmed down linux dedicated to running containers on VMware. This can all run and move in and out of AWS if you want. This is pretty huge I think. The huge plus of AWS is they have the entire VMware suite of tools already setup already installed and ready to just use. Check out the online labs…

Those apples look pretty good! When I lived in Ohio years ago we had a couple apple trees in the backyard. The only downside was when they fell off the tree then were all over the ground... it made mowing the yard a little bumpy to say the least.

Scott's been around a while... but dang twice!

We're finally putting money into tools we need. It's helped a lot.

I get it... nothing is free. AppInsight is really neat all the stuff it shows you but comes at a cost. (not a minor one either) But the info it collects is pretty low level so I thinks that's probably to be expected. I mean it even times how long statements take to run... I'll look into DPA.

I often goto Randy F. Smith's website Randy Franklin Smith's Ultimate Windows Security as it's one of the best websites about windows event logging. He has a Windows Security Log quick reference guide and sends out monthly summary after each patch tuesday to your email inbox! Microsoft also has some new updated docs:…

I can't help but think this isn't going to be fun...

I try to do this all the time. I'm not sure I always provide value but I do try hard to.

It's the Monday after Black Friday when all the online businesses have a big sale.

And everyone does it.

This is inspiring me to use more custom dashboards. Since upgrading so many systems to latest Orion it's nice to have all the good features like modern dashboards.

OSS is good stuff... even MicroSoft has gotten into it some now. I gotta hand it to MS... hiring a bunch of old unix guys has brought us powershell, linux on windows, and SQL Server for linux. Not bad at all!

All of these things are now required for anyone working on Federal Networks in the USA. If it's the DoD then it's even more requirements. In addition to security certifications it's now also certificates in any technical discipline we work with.

I had the same thing happen said I got them wrong from items I didn't pick!

One goal for me is to get us onto the latest NPM, SAM, and NTA so I can start using perfstack, better appstack, and and new traffic end to end graphing functionality.

it's not problem really happens after it's been a while since logging into the customer portal... I'm sure it's a very small population.
