A few years ago I decided since I've been in networking/security/IT for quite a while I'd probably easily be able to get my CISSP. I am a CISSP now but the point is... it's not as easy and obvious as I thought it was going to be... it was like relearning a ton of stuff 100 miles wide and a only a few feet deep. It…

How many installers are there and I'm not sure I understand what the difference is...
-
I like the menu too.
-
Not a typo.

This is why social media accounts without your name on them is good! I also only use web versions and NEVER install the apps anymore.

We're going headfirst into VMware NSX and it's a big change in the way to look at the network, virtualization, and even network security. Virtual f/w contexts that move around with vm's... virtual load balancing... the list goes on.

It helps a little to just show all first so you can see them all.

Documentation does save the say. Sometimes it's hard for me to slow down enough to document things but when I do it often comes in handy later.

It looks like there are some great new added performance and backup updates to SQL Server 2016! SP2 just dropped. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4052908/sql-server-2016-service-pack-2-release-information

Thanks for fixing so early Wendy!!! Wendy is from Utah Radioteacher!

The more you break out and reference 800-53 the better. It'll need to be updated periodically as well. Now we are falling under the RMF process to get to the point we can get our ATO's. Bill

I tried Control-F and got nothing like the page was an image... interesting that chrome gets around that... it's good to know.

Grats on another year of MS MVP. That's pretty legit for sure having a decade of experience doing it.

Array of Geeks! A Network of Geeks! Compilation of Geeks! A Party of Geeks! AD&D reference for those that didn't catch that! I could see them playing Dungeons and Dragons... lololol!
-
I was the same way... for years I never went then finally the past two years I've been able to go.
-
No reason to worry... they are mostly to make you want to get the real tools... it's kinda a tease of sorts o.O! Here you can have just a little taste but if you want to use this on anything but one device in many cases you need the non-free stuffs.

Nice NSA link there!
-
I've used the realtime polling for troubleshooting things... it works pretty well.

More DevOps... and what happens when you don't take the trash out!

I don't buy the blockchain either sqlrockstar... 99% hype and 1% helpful.

Some of these guys really don't see the whole picture that well and still are thinking too much historically about Orion I think. It wasn't that long ago that it didn't scale as well as it does today. You could read that not being able to do 10G was part of what kept it off supposedly before, although I'm not sure I get…

We're investigating the GCC High Office365 offering. At least they have everyone background checked and are all US Citizens: GCC High and DoD It will only be for controlled unclassifed information but may be promising... idk after hearing from everyone here... hehe!
-
I'm hoping using some of the Orion tools and modules will help to manage the environment. With RMF coming down this year for everyone in the DoD we'll need tools to help us reach the ultimate goal of continuous monitoring which is the RMF goal end state.

It's nice to have all your devices able to use XTACACS... I love my ACS server.
-
Same thing here... I know I entered it that way before and it didn't take it... I refreshed the screen and tried again and this time it worked. I knew the answer was right and had thought I tried every combo of capitalization... then for some reason it took. Maybe you need to be more of a vax VMS vs. unix person for this

True but I know from my own experience in this that physical security is BIG part of compliance.

Wow I really liked the blockchain article. It's so true. I never really got what the deal was with it... the whole thing about mining bitcoins for huge amount of power and cooling expense. It really just doesn't make any sense at all. It's almost like it just makes everything it touches worse and more expensive and less…
-
This is so true... what the problem really is means less to users than it just doesn't do what I need it do... or it's just too slow!!!

Endpoint protection has come a long way since the old day of just having AV.

That's sorta what I was thinking too lol!
