It's happened to me before believe me!

TGIF!!! Some long weeks these days. Bill

I'd almost argue that compliance and security is really bigger than "cloud." Most of us already virtualize our workloads so this is just a common way to run things today depending on one main thing... the Security requirements and whether or not it's even allowed to "run in the cloud." It all comes back to security and…

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Your Military/DOD/Government customers will especially love this! Years of watching nodes behind firewalls be red because icmp isn't allowed will finally be over. We can look forward to no longer 0% availability! With ICMP being such a blatantly abused protocol often being used often as a…

OSPF works well if designed correctly from the start... stubby and not so stubby areas!

I spent my IT Pro Day fixing a Kerberos and LDAP problem all day!!! Without authentication working on some unix machines it meant developers were sitting doing nothing for hours... this isn't good at all!!! I fixed it though. ;^}

I think you are completely right byrona! Our audit are taking longer and longer for the auditors to do every week. With the size growing everything takes longer to process.
-
I don't have as many problems in the question today but tailoring alerts so you only get emailed for important things is key!

For the biggest thing about HCO is the recurring cost but I'm biting the bullet and going Advanced for 500 nodes on one network to try prove that all the tools pays for itself... it'll be the first time I've had all the modules integrated with each other before. Many Orion instances I've worked on over the years have…

Just tell people what you're missing and they'll help fill you in I'm 100% sure. As much info as possible helps.

It's my guess a lot of politicians can't wait to figure out how to tax the internet more and get more of our hard earned dollars as well.
-
Can you reset it for me... I just got it wrong the first time.
-
Yep it's working now!

The biggest concern is always is it going to scale at least as well as our own platform did? It's nice to not have to patch and run your own infrastructure but that also involves trust and letting go of some control as well. I know people keep telling me cloud cloud cloud... I'm not sure i'll be telling little kids about…

I'm going to try this out myself as well... I have a P2 and P3. The P3 is just sitting there (with it's custom thwack engraved MVP case!). I take it they're running jessie version of raspian then?

I totally agree about the other solutions too byrona... these Garter people don't do tests like Network World or Network Labs would... I totally agree many of the others seem to get some pass just because they are huge and have fortune 100 customers and cost a million to implement. Well I've done that before too... geesh…

Funny how some seem to think you can somehow violate the rules of physics!

InsightForSQL has made me aware there are a LOT of stats for SQL Server... it's not a trivial thing going on in there!

Day 19 I don't get at all... One X for the month.

You're not the only one... I've been trying to figure out how to get ansible to install and configure agents for linux automatically.
-
Rick is right... it can't get much easier on today's question... but if you think too hard it might be possible to overlook it... as soon as you open the demo it's right there in your face.

It would be neat if we had another SWUG in Phoenix again!

We've all had some discussions about this... that last default password on the list of passwords that were used is pretty crude too! Here's the passwords that the botnet actually used: Here are the 61 passwords that powered the Mirai IoT botnet | CSO Online Now that the source for this bot and CC have been released... get…

IPSLA is promising. I honestly haven't done a lot with it myself but our network team has done some and we are doing QOS now.

This one will be a little more difficult... some obscure players in some brackets.

What I don't like about virtualization is that your storage better be redundant and good because if it's not your datastore goes kaput and then your VM's won't be happy... with Windows Servers think BSOD. Better hope you still have at least one physical Domain Controller too because if not guess what??? No more logins for…

I concur.

I don't think the replacement for snmp has been decided on yet...
