I'm doing this now alerting on some group status's... One thing I noticed though... You can't really mix group and node logic in an alert trigger condition... it's either Node or Group it seems... at least that's how it seems to be to me when I tried to build a trigger with group and node logic I couldn't seem to get the…

Add it to the unknown devices thread:

jtimes is right here... if you can get by with a more limited (set of slow webpage resouces) but still good for your use case this could solve your problem without having to throw hardware at the problem. The HTTPWatch suggestion is a great one to narrow down what specifically is taking so long. Then you may be able to…

Redundancy for some things could be one although I'm not sure it matters that much anymore. With virtualization of everything (including SQL Server) I don't have much reliability issues any more. I have been monitoring wan sites from multiple locations ie. overlap between pollers. I also have EOC license still although the…

You are reading and writing to the SQL server over the WAN? Most MPLS WAN's i've seen any further than a little way a way that wouldn't be possible... there's no way to cheat distance no matter how fat your pipes are it's physics. If you's are just a few miles down the road maybe but I have sites across the US and in other…

Lol I love it everything this thread get's necro'd!

I see what you're saying but then you also have to manage customer properties for everything... I think that's one drawback of the current alert generation system... where you have to select either node or group. I have alerts both ways and yes... custom properties.

Yeah I have the new noSQL flow db server as well. I'll check there thanks!
-
So I've noticed the AJAX is faster but as debbie said... as far as remaining expanded goes... it doesn't work as advertised.

Everything from BMC is expensive and I have issues with companies who sell so many products but won't let you view any documentation or knowledge base without being under contract and logging in. If a companies products are good you shouldn't have to hide the documentation.

I've done this on accident with WPM too... it took me a little while to figure it out too and was a pain.
-
I'm in the same boat byron... have you jumped to 11 yet in production? And if so are you using the sensor yet? I'm almost to that point I'm on last 10 version now...

Thanks cobrien... it looks like a few of those were in hotfixes I'm now finding I have to apply I just ran into since going 11.5.2 and Orion Platform 2015.1.2... the memory leak and business layer service v3 problems were the taking a toll but not being able to complete a network sonar import really bit me... HF6 for Orion…

Thanks LadaVarga... this worked like a charm :^}

I have run into similar issues with trying to use my normal complex community string with Cisco 3750 switches... my string works will all my other devices. The screwed up thing is that the 3750 takes the string without any issue into it's config but when polled by NPM... it doesn't work. After shortening the string and…

See here why is the one showing and not the other in the recent content on all pages at the bottom? You can see the Error Unexpectect Website Error on at the top of recent content but why doesn't the more recent Orion Website issues one also show? That's the part I don't understand. They are both questions in the same…

I see it now at the top of the list when I click on content under NPM forum: Network Performance Monitor I was used to always seeing anything changed goto the top of the "Recent Content" area at the bottom of the page and it doesn't seem to... I don't know if this is some change or if only content from certain areas show…

I had the same problem... Looking at the storage location it looks like it's been backing up something most days... I've updated the time to later and also moved the database maintenance out a little to so they won't overlap. Hopefully now I won't see this message any longer.

Let us know how it goes Eric... I haven't had to open a ticket in a little while but I've been having some issues with a UnDP that won't correctly graph the data... it seems like the graphs show part of a day and that's it... like it's not showing all the historical data for some reason.

You could post the SQL or SWQL from the help desk. I assume a table had to be cleaned up or truncated? Many of us are preparing to do the exact same upgrade and have been monitoring some of these "issues" with upgrading to 12.x

Did you know you can load some monitoring scripts from other monitoring products into SAM?
-
SAM definitely enhances NPM's ability to monitor... actually NTA also can greatly help especially if your are running into issues with bandwidth and the amount of data and type flowing through the pipes.
-
Sorry to hear that geesh! DDOS could blow up your logs for sure.
-
From everything I've seen it apears so :}

There's an easy answer to that: CourtesyIT <- click here... not long check the dates o.O!

I have 148864

Wow Andy I just got burned on this... I thought my logic was correct but the indentation was off... I had to delete and recreate some of the levels to get indenting correct... I had some later in list that were justified left instead of under o.O! Yes I'm still on NPM 11.0.1 today so web alerts are just out of my reach but…

I'm in the same boat brother... I must be slacking... We do have a few Aussies

The thwackpack is some seriously legit swag for sure!

That would sure be easier than trying to figure out the SDK if you've never used it before!
