Can you tell me the installed versions you have of: * VMAN * IVIM * NPM Have you tried to delete that node and re-add it? Was that a managed node before you enabled the integration?

Hi squinsey, I'll contact you offline.

The Evaluation License Expiration you are experiencing is expected behavior. The Eval key does not "reset" on uninstall - it's a feature of the Eval license so that folks can't perpetually use evaluation copies. You'll need to contact sales@solarwinds.com to get an extension key for your evaluation.

Hi Kurt, Well, it does appear you're having some data collection issues after all. If you would, please open a ticket with support and they can help you diagnose the issue further.

Hi ttl, This is actually fantastic timing. With STM 5.6, we've added a whole chapter on deployment of STM to the Admin Guide. I'll also be doing a session on STM Deployment at our upcoming ThwackCamp virtual conference, so look out for that session.

Hi Joshua, Without Virtualization Manager, you will not be able to get any usage or performance information about Virtual Datastores.
-
Hi fcpsolaradmin, I'm not sure I follow what you mean "opening of a user"? Is that just to open the app and connect to the MA Server with your credentials? If so, that is pretty bad and makes me think that there is something wrong. We are looking at some performance improvements around loading times, so it would be great…

Hi Byron, We do provide root access to the vApp. It's a standard CentOS 5.9 (as of VMAN 6.0.1) distribution underneath the hood.
-
Hi Storgo, Sorry, the Thwack idea forums had a bit of a technical hiccup this morning. It should work now.
-
Hi fkckbrown, When you add your vCenter do you not see this series of screens?

Hi caglarisa, I think the best approach for you with the current functionality is to build a trend per cluster off the cluster.vMotionCount property. This is a running total of the number of vMotions on a cluster. It will not give you the names of the VM's that moved. However, a bit of a workaround is to create an alert…
-
Hi caglarisa, Haha, well I can certainly appreciate the approach of "the boss gets what the boss wants." :-) But seriously, I don't believe there is a direct way to get explicitly what you are asking for, but maybe if you asked your manager why he wanted this information we might be able to come up with an approach that…

Hi Byron, Sorry about that. So for VMware, we collect performance data by default at 10 minute intervals. We take that collection and take the average, min, and max of VMware's 20 second samples. You can tune down performance collection to 5 minutes, which would give you more data points over the long term and averages of…

Hi kaushikpathak, This kind of monitoring with STM is not possible. * This is a vendor limitation for the most part. * You might not like the results if you really did this. This kind of monitoring can significantly affect the performance of the system being monitored. I'm assuming you want to do this because these systems…

HI Steven, Yes, so if you go to the STM online Demo navigate to to Virtualization->ESX Groups->Austin->Asset Tab. Under the Asset Tab, you'll see a report called VMware Events. This will list all of the events for that ESX group with links to the VM's that fired them. Given that this is an online demo, there isn't much…

Hi eloyramirez, Go to the Event Monitor and then select Severity -> Information in drop down and see if the alerts are appearing there: If you see the event there and then wish you change the status, click on the little pencil icon in the Edit column, which will open up the edit dialogue. There you can change the severity…

Hi bstew, It looks like there is something wonky going on with the SMI-S Provider. I would suggest you open up a support ticket, as we would have to examine the system logs to figure out whats going on and there's no easy way to do that via Thwack.

OK, so looking at your DR VNX LUN report it should look something like this: Looking at the Default and Current Controller columns, any of the LUNs where those are not the same should appear in your Trespass LUN's report: If that is not the case, there might be an issue. Furthermore, is there anything different about the…

Hi bbeut, Ok - so the CPU Used % counter that had problems should be replaced by either CPU Utilization of Host % or CPU Load. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that either of those have a "Peak" attribute equivalent, so that will need to get addressed on our end. Once that's done, you should be able to generate these same…

Hi en zed, One of the advantages of Papertrail is that you can easily filter out "noise" from your log stream and it's not counted against your log ingestion limit. You can see more on how to do that in this help KB on filtering: Log filtering · Papertrail log management Given your comment above, about not being able to…

If it's the parts in red that have "blue box" messages telling you to enable integration, it sounds like there is something actually wrong with the integration. The best way forward is probably to open a support case. In lieu of that, one workaround that may fix the issue is to break and re-enable the integration.…

Hi mharvey, I know that this isn't the first time I've heard of customers doing this, but just to be clear - a separate STM DB is not a currently supported configuration. Furthermore, we cannot guarantee that this will continue to work in future releases.
-
LOL. You made me blush - That SRM Total IOPS expanding into Read and Write. Idea of yours truly ;-) Yeah, from the outside looking in, it doesn't make much sense. I agree. Hopefully I could shed some light on the matter for you. These are all great ideas. Thanks for the feedback.
-
Hi Simonp73, There is not really "integration" between VMAN and vCenter, so not sure what you mean. We leverage the VMware API to extract information, but that's not really integration in the true sense of the word. Anyway, it short, VMware's API does not allow us to get the required information and unfortunately the…

Hi Russ, Can you post a screenshot of what you are seeing and also what version of the VIM module you have installed?
-
Hi jabd@dgs.com, It was decided to not roll a HF for 5.7.2 to include this fix as STM/SRM 6.0 is imminent and the fix is included in that release. As soon as 6.0 is GA, you can download it in your customer portal and upgrade your system.
-
Hi amcintosh, Are you running STM 5.7? Generally, you should be able to see what poller the device is assigned to in the Health Status page. But as HolyGuacamole pointed out, Celerra collection is only ever done through the main STM Server.
-
Hi B Harris, Yes, that absolutely is the way I'd go too on an upgrade. Just make sure that after you've verified the upgrade has happened correctly (poke around in the dashboard, verify collections), that you go back and delete the snapshot. We've seen these snapshots cause drag on performance of the appliance over time.

Hi steely, Blackberry 10 support for Mobile Admin is not on the roadmap at this time.

Hi cdekort, This would be a feature request.
