We have roving onsite techs who are in charge of swapping in/out gear and generally being our physical presence onsite. OnsiteTech> Hey there, the users here aren't able to print from <app> at all, can you please check the queue? Me> Sure, give me the name...tap tap...looks ok here, I'll try a test job, did it make it ok?…

The brocades we have here are getting on a bit but come with a limited linux shell that can be easily interacted with by scripts on my main admin server. You're probably not looking at a lot of work to do this fyi.

Don't forget you've effectively enabled access to snmp data by anything on your network without authentication/privacy by allowing 0.0.0.0. Consider at least putting in the IP address of your solar winds server in there instead to restrict it a bit.

I've done a full write-up on getting AIX and built-in SNMPv3 working with auth/priv keys here: https://thwack.solarwinds.com/docs/DOC-176337 There are also details on using clsnmp to "snmpwalk" there too. Check out http://www.thewrittenword.com/ for an excellent provider of compiled for AIX open source if you're still…

It's also possible you don't have full visibility to the underlying MIB information available from the sub-processes associated with snmpd (e.g snmpmibd/aixmibd/hostmibd). It can't see their details unless explicitly allowed to by the configuration. I've done a write-up of SNMP v3 setup on AIX here Configuring SNMP Version…

I created a post on how your AIX administrators can go about "Configuring SNMP Version 3 on AIX" which would allow you to monitor them using Solarwinds. https://thwack.solarwinds.com/docs/DOC-176337 Let me know if that does the trick.
