  • It seems to me that you have a "horrible experience" with the CLI. The CLI will always be present no matter how many tools that you put in place. Let's take for example that you use ConfD to configure the device but you make a typo in the IP address and the device becomes unreachable. If you had used the commit-confirmed…
  • I would like to see a user right that restricts access to the R/W community. I need the community string there for the VOIP & Network Quality module but I don't want all of the engineers to be able to shutdown interfaces from the website.
  • Andy, This is great but you may want to get that lunch back from your SQL Guru (or a least a replacement). This particular format will leave out the last day of data from last quarter as it produces a timestamp of midnight on the last day of the quarter. That means that all of the data between from 00:01 to 23:59 on that…
  • It looks like it is working properly. You had a spike to 7Mb and 300%. 7Mb would be 300% of the 2Mb configuration. The lines don't match up perfectly but that could be because of the way that it calculates the averages. It actually paints a good picture of the state of the link, it's seriously overutilized.
  • There are two different login prompts that you can recieve when logging into Orion. The first is the standard Orion login. This is the one that you always used before setting up WPTA. This login prompt is only use to verify a u/p against the internal database. If you have created a user named domain/user with no password,…
  • I appreciate all of the effort that you put into this and I appologize for not posting sooner but I have been out of the country for the last week and a little limited on Internet access. The only other option that I know of is to calculate this information on the SQL server and store the result in a custom property for…
  • We added a custom property to each of our nodes of UserSwitch and ServerSwitch. If this value is set to true then we don't display these in the Nodes with Problems report (filter is "UserSwitch <> 1 and ServerSwitch <> 1").
  • Thanks, but they are on different machines.
  • More than a month with no update....how's it coming along?
  • Can you also include a graph of actual byte count for the same timeframe? It looks like your interface is occasionally seeing traffic levels that far exceed the 2Mb limit for the port. For future reference, using the bandwidth statement on the routers interface should keep you from having to manually adjust the bandwidth…
  • The problem is not that the menu does not come up, it is that when it does come up and I select any of the Solar Winds links (such as traceroute) I get a message that the product is not installed.
  • Denny, How would you accomplish sending the link? Is that something available now or being planned for the future?
  • In the map maker, if you go to object properties for the node, and check the box that says "Show child status also", you will get a red square on the bottom right of the green icon that will indicate that the node has an interface down.
  • I think this is related to the browser security settings. If the server is not listed as a trusted site then it won't pass your domain credentials (unless you have modified your security settings.) I had to pass out instructions to every one to add the server to their list of trusted sites and to make sure that the…
  • Depending on the version you may have to go to the System Manager on the server and delete.
  • Another vote for this one. We reallllly need this feature. One of our business units is embarassing us with the ability to alert on issues like "Response Time outside all baselines for x minutes". It would also be handy for detecting path changes in provider networks. If the site suddenly jumps from 200-280 ms and stays…
  • Follow-up post. The EMEA team runs a server that currently shows an entire site is down. This bubbles through multiple layers (4 I believe) and shows on the top map. Does an entire map have to be down to cause this to happen?
  • This still happens in the latest version. I found out that if you import the map background with the size that you want and then leave the scaling at 100% that it works fine. Of course, this would only apply if you were basing your map on an imported image.
  • This was awesome! Thanks! It saved me hours of duplication. My table was slightly different (probably a newer version at this point) but the basic instructions work like a charm!
  • It actually does show up as a percentage, the field formatting was not updated to show it as such though. On the field formatting tab, select PercentIN and change the Format to Numeric Data. Then set the Format String to 0.00 and the Units to %. Then do the same thing to PercentOUT.
  • Vinod, Did you change this in the System Manager on the Orion server? From there you can right click on the interface in question and choose Interface details. Next you will click on the Custom Bandwidth check box and then adjust the transmit and receive bandwidth to their appropriate values. I have not experienced the…
  • The easiest way to accomplish this is to define a custom view for the Windows nodes. If you go to the admin section under views you will see an option for Views by Device Type. Scroll towards the bottom and you will see the different flavor of Windows servers that you manage. Build a view for them and select it here. This…
  • I am having a similar problem and I believe that it is something that could be changed in the product and would make it much better. I have a nested map that is three layers deep. The top map is of the country with an icon on each state/country representing a map of that location (level 1). When you drill down to that map…
