Im particularly interested in containers at the moment. With Ciscos new IOx platform it opens a lot of new capabilities to the network. Particularly when all your doing is collecting sensor data. Im curious to see which developers decide to embrace this distributed software architecture in the off the shelf commercial…

Hey take a look at this. It is what we use and it works like a charm. No need for dedicated IPs. Its darn close to plug and play once its all set up. Dynamic Multipoint VPN (DMVPN) - Products & Services - Cisco

I believe this already exists. If you click on the "Edit" button on the node details page, you should be able to select which ones appear on the node details page.

I think that products like FireEye are doing some good strides in the IDS/IPS scene. They more or less are doing what you describe in the second approach just at a smaller scale within the private sector. I think the biggest issue the IT industry faces in the security sector is training. Very few professionals actually…

At the very least. If i see an IP address in a certain subnet that exceeds some quota or spikes to high run script that adds IP address to an access list that sits within a lower priority QoS class.

I think you hit the nail on the head. I cant name how many times monitoring statistics looked fine while we have recieved tickets for poor performance. With technology and architectures becoming more and more redundant simple fault management does not go far enough in staying proactive about IT services delivered to our…

Im pretty young in my career and these are the three skills that I have found have made the biggest impact to my career. The absolute most important skill is understanding the business. I feel like that term gets kicked around alot. Everyone always says it, but I dont believe everyone truely lives it. The goal of…

It actually looks like we should be getting this soon as part of SAM 6.0.

I don't believe it will ever get to true zero touch. What would be nice is to be able to explicitly define a configuration server with a PSK. It wouldn't take much effort and it would be secure enough in many cases.

I will always say. Technology is never the solution to the process. It only allows the people to accelerate it. You will never fix the compliance problem unless the people are aligned to fix it. The technology will only make their jobs easier in the effort.

The big advantage for us is it allows us to page full time contractors of issues. Since our policy is to not give out company phones to them, it is difficult to get the alert to them through email during off hours. Also it is nice to have a special end of the world ring when certain high level issues arise.

Looks like the spammers got through your moderation bubble.

Thanks for the update. I eagerly anticipate news on the subject! Manuel

By doing what I said you will have the latest traffic amount for your interface that Solar Winds has polled. To get more accurate data decrease your polling interval. The maps dont support real time data from what i can tell. If you want to look at the real time data then you will need to bring up a guage on your engineers…

I agree. Being able to have a location system that is part of the native experience then have network atlas be able to tie into that would be pretty awesome.

For me it was dinner and my colleague in the UK it was a pillow haha.

Thanks for this!

We had an issue where upon trying to upgrade the primary instance after upgrading the back up had trouble when configuring the database. It could not find certain references. Solar Winds support has since told me that upgrading with FoE is not certified...

They have an early version ready. Talk to your sales rep to see if you can get a copy. Mine got me one.

I created a local orion account called report. then gave it admin access.

Using the windows snipping tool you could always copy and paste any image into Atlas. Just be sure to fill in the name field. This is the easy way to get custom images into the system that you are able to drag and drop. If you want to go the "Select Graphics" route, you could always follow the below instructions. I got…

By using the background overlay the images become objects like nodes, so you should be able to drag and drop them around with no problem. If this dosnt accomplish your goals i dont think it will be possible natively...

I dont think i understand what you mean by manage as a JPEG... but maybe this will help. Look at the section titled "Background Overlay". HIDDEN GEMS IN ORION NETWORK ATLAS

This was posted almost a year ago. Where are we at? Any word on a date of any kind? Some of these features would really benefit us!

Si puede, Con el producto NPM y SAM puedes poner un monitor de application. Inclue un link en ingles que enseña dos methodos de como monitorear un base de datos. SQL Server Two Ways - SAM AppInsight for SQL and Database Performance Analyzer

Maybe im missing something but I normally go into the manage nodes view search for something that will encompass what needs to be muted. For example we use site codes so ABC for site A. Then I click select all and unmanage them or like it mentioned above change a custom property that allows me to keep monitoring without…
