No worries- and thank you. I'm now kicking off as much as I can to get the clients upgraded asap; will update here as soon as I've tested the new version!

Yes it looks like they are- I'm going to confirm this asap. Being located in a DMZ, they will not have been automatically upgraded, as in the case for a lot of the rest of the estate where you can of course push the agent. We do see that older versions of the client in Client-Initiated polling scenarios do work tho, so…

Aaaah good point guys... I'm now in the process of testing the group member condition, but not sure which option to choose to ensure those nodes within the email body: group appear in the email body. Thanks =)

I've put the question out there to several different engineers involved in the project so will hopefully have an answer on this soon. Presume this isn't something you see as an issue on the SolarWinds side of things? One thing I should also mention- I have an RFC in place to get the solarwinds clients upgraded as they are…

Thanks Jeff- looks like I need to back to the IT guys who looks after the IT for this contract and try to figure out a solution to this based on what you've very helpfully suggested here. Really appreciate it- will feed back here asap.

Hi aLTeReGo, to be perfectly honest, I'm working for a large corporate where IT is fragmented into dozens of teams out there who I can only talk to via change requests and is very fragmented both politically and geographically so getting that kind of info is difficult. That said, I have put the question to a contact on the…

Hi thanks for this- I've included here some screenshots of the original alert configuration which I've since tried to replicate and re-apply. In the re-created version-all I managed was a kind of chopped down version which although didn't have the same errors, only alerted on the fact there was an issue, and then included…

Thanks- yes I haven't been given any info on what the servers might be- looks like they just want a blanket 'top 5' most naughty nodes! I'll try the service counters as suggested. Regards, Marcus.

I've now found more documentation that answers this- you can easily monitor sites both inside your firewall and also from an location outside of your network so is ideal for monitoring sites from offices or administrative sites anywhere on the globe... Thanks

Ok guys, just want to say thanks for sticking with me here... turns out teh group contains.... other groups... which when drilling down further do indeed contain critical nodes. So at the level below this one, the group statuses can be in states such as down/warning/shutdown/critical statuses. So i need to the trigger to…

Hey- thanks for the article. I've been through it, but it appears to be talking about editing the host-name in the URL which in our case appears to be correct? (see below) The part I'm concerned with is where the email alert displays lines where there's no detail: An issue has been detected at 08 May 2016 13:34 on…

Hi guys, we have exactly this issue- We've been working with the networking team for some time to get comms between the two sites in question (one being where the Orion installations is (SolarWinds SAM) and the other we're trying to monitor, which is another remote site on a WAN link in a DMZ so the polling method we need…

Fantastic, thanks for getting back so quickly guys- this is very useful indeed. Another thing I need to be clear on if I may- I've been told we'll be using it to monitor 'up to 50 web transactions from up to 4 locations'. In this scenario it looks on paper that 4 'players' will be required for each location- what is the…

Reading more through our notes here it looks like the Existing Solarwinds installation uses a shared SQL instance already, so I just need to confirm that the WPM DB is ok to share that instance also?

Well I've managed to get permissions to the SQL Websites data table and edit the server names field as per AlterEgo's advice- thank you for that... neomatrix- thanks for your feedback; based on your advise I've re-created the alert from scratch too. So after carrying out these steps I've triggered the 'Simulate' function…
