We keep our prices down relative to the Big 4 management companies This is just simply not true anymore for some of us at least. By the time you add all the hardware, OS, pollers, and Modules for SolarWinds, in our case it is about the same or even in some cases, SolarWinds has a higher TCO.
-
I do see the balance issue, however I think that they have swung too far the other way on the module issue. I wouldn't even mind the module issue that much if the modules were well integrated, but they are not. It seems like totally seperate development teams that do not develop to the common framework. How long has it…

no prob :-) i am waiting for solarwinds to add a volumes option there, not sure how they forgot I'm waiting on the select all interfaces to work for a single device too. Also, I wish there were an option to mark interfaces as unpluggable when importing them.

@ zizi Any thing else?

Managing both ends. And yes the main switch does have unknown conections.

The result of the case was that 8GB is the low side of the memory requirement for the recommendation engine in our environment. Our environment consists of about 120 ESXi hosts and around 1,200 servers. I find this memory utilization unacceptable. vROPS requires much less to do the same thing. I am about to put in another…

Same issue here too. The only way I can get them back in a managed state is to switch pollers.
-
I do not currently have an open case for this issue. But I will open one.

The device tracker summary page is what we look at. If all the extraneous ports are added this count is way off.

Yes please

Basic features such as discovery are so outdated and cumbersome to use. I can install any of the competing products and discover an entire class B network's devices in not much more time than it takes to go through that darn Wizard anytime you need to make a change I can install any of the competing products and discover…

That is only for the device. Not for the elements of the device. For example, if you know a link on a router is going to be down for a few days, you don't want alerts on it, but you want to keep the history.
-
I agree. Try marking several hundred ports as unplugable from a list of hundreds of switches. This UI just does not scale in large environments.
-
Same issue for me as well. All the boxes checked and still have unknowns.

Otherwise the other 13 already backed up have been replaced. Now monitoring for the trap forwarder to remain low memory usage... Please Solarwinds, and…

Yes, I agree. Zero is the accepted value, but I have never seen that in reality.

You should only have to apply this to the web servers that you are trying to edit the templates from. Looks like this needs to be applied to the additional web server (stand alone) and to the master poller.
-
Well If I didn't it wouldn't poll at all now would it I see it mostly on Cisco switches, and it doesn't matter what poller they are on.
-
No, the only option for polling vCenter is ICMP now. The Vmware api still gives you the NIC's but no disks. Case # 1243403

What version are you currently running on today with Orion? 10.2.1 Sent you a screen shot. Don't know how to post pics here.

Last info from support on 15 Feb 2016 Case # 877480 Just wanted to let you know that development is working on a fix for this issue. At this point in time they are still working on it, and I do not have an ETA. However, when I get any new info, I’ll make sure to let you know. Still no fix.

aLTeReGo, I take back what I said about this working before on shared configs. I have done some testing. The WMI call that the AppInsight for IIS that checks the "Physical Path" for the site does just that. It checks the local path. If you have your data on a shared drive, it breaks the monitor. It takes a different WMI…

They need to fix this. This issue with putting in the website URL is that many of the built-in health checks fail because it thinks that URL is a real server and is missing services.
-
Thank you Lukas for the clarification. I am indeed still getting this alert even though I have removed the agent from vCenter. I will open a ticket.
-
Would you share what you have done? Thanks!

Problem solved. Ticket 742341

This would be awsume.

True bleearg13, SW has become very heavy handed on Sales. Way to many salespeople, and not enough support. The constant barrage of sales is making it difficult to work with this product.

So Friday?

I see that my question has already been answered here: We need components that do not generate up/down.
