I've only had 10.5 installed for a couple days, but I don't see this issue with these modules integrated at this time. I've also been debating whether or not to install NCM 7.2 RC (I could really benefit from the EOL report), but I haven't done so yet. D

Additional license or not.... * IF you keep your current license model and individually license NPM, NTA, and NCM, you need to purchase at least 1 APE. The are going for $16,999.99 each (list). * IF you upgrade to the NAM license, you get several more modules INCLUDING 20 APEs...all part of the same license. We are about…

Something I just thought about...are you running ASM on the F5s? The Application Security Manager (ASM) is basically an application layer firewall. Maybe the SNMP requests are being seen as an attack? (just a guess!) Is this an intermittent issue, or continuous?

Bah! Copy and Paste...old school style. But I'll keep it in mind for future (after I copy and paste it the first time)....
-
serena, Sorry to use this post to ask my question, but do you have a recommendation between SQL Standard vs Enterprise? Is there some sort of matrix of options to help us decide which version to use? D
-
I've run into this several times. You have have to make sure you are monitoring the interfaces on both ends of the cable, then run the "Topology" not the "list resources." D
-
jbartlett and blsanner, I think that's where I went wrong, I didn't use the "linear" resource, so I have speed dials instead. Oh, well, maybe I'll change it. Thanks for pointing out the error of my feeble ways. D

You go to Cisco, download the code. Then upload it to NCM on the Firmware page (its in the NCM settings). Then build a deployment workflow process, and done. It sounds like a bit much for just 1 switch, but as your environment grows, the process is already done for any others. And if you know you have several already, you…

But I like arguing with the app team...it gives me a reason to show up each day. And when they finally find the code I was telling them was misbehaving, the look on their frustrated faces is priceless. D

Definitely hit this one! Orion Improvement Program causes memory leak in SWIS v3 in NPM 12

I've experienced that posting personally, as well as your issue (same issue); that's why I knew to ask about the 10GB and loopback interfaces...those are typically the culprits. Since you already set the custom bandwidth, and that didn't fix it; have you tried to unmanage the interfaces and re-manage them? After a device…

And these "little hacks" are why we gripe and complain in a polite, respectful way. I'm definitely using that hack and your code! This stuff is awesome for a someone like myself. D

Glad to help. I didn't want to overwhelm you at the beginning. So my thought was to help you get the servers monitored, first. Then as aLTeReGo mentioned, there is a default, out-of-box alert for monitoring the various hardware components. Once you have that in place, then we can help you with application monitoring. D

Based on this information, it appears you are talking about the Netflow sources; the above solution was for the conversations. There are 2 solutions to get the Netflow sources to reflect the name, not the IP. Solution 1 (preferred in my opinion): - Configure the device itself to use the appropriate IP/Interface when…

That's what I like to hear! I think I'm still going to wait a few more weeks, but this rebuilds confidence! Thank you! D

I did a search on the Cisco web site, I don't think the 8xx routers support netflow. I think the smallest router that does is the 19xx. The data sheet for the 1900 series routers is the first reference to netflow support. I could be wrong, but thaat wold certainly explain the missing commands. Dwyane

My configuration is: With the "Auto Determine" CLI template applied.

sja, Good catch! My old age remembered a reference to etherchannel monitoring, but I couldn't remember where. I guess it's not on the current roadmap in NPM, it was a reference in NTM: ANNOUNCING GENERAL AVAILABILITY OF NTM 2.2 That is completely my bad! D

https://documentation.solarwinds.com/en/Success_Center/SAM/Content/SAM-troubleshooting-snmp.htm At a minimum, the SNMP binaries need to be installed so the agent can automatically configure SNMP to use loopback.

Oh, forgot to include...please provide the Windows Log Forwarder as part of Orion NPM as well. Please, please, please.... D

Dave, While I understand your managements desire to reduce costs where they can (I battle this argument all the time), cutting costs on infrastructure is never a good idea (IMHO). I've used lots of other networking gear (Dell, HP/3Com, Linksys, etc.), but I've always come back to Cisco. Why? It's the same reason Windows is…

Perfect, many thanks for the clarity.

Nothing I can see. I used that basic setup initially, here's the config I use now: Re: Migrating from Netflow v5 to v9. Concerned about doubled traffic. D

Out of curiousity, did you copy and paste the SNMP string into NPM from the UPS GUI? If so, can you manually type it in? I have seen in other situations that when you copy and paste from some GUI to NPM, that a "mysterious" space is placed in the string. When looking at it, it doesn't look like it, but it's there.

We still don't know the hardware, so I'm making a TON of assumptions.... 11.4.1 build 608, there are patches and hotfixes for this version that "might" attribute to polling issues. But before looking at the code, I would have to ask your F5 admins if you (NPM) have full SNMP access. D

chmarx, No worries. I know the commands from CLI to view the info, I just don't have a mechanism to pull it from Orion and display it...then of course alert on issues. But I'm not giving up on my friends at SolarWinds, I have confidence they will provide a way in a future release. Dwyane

It sounds that way. You won't have to disable NCM on the shared account, everyone will be logging in with their new credentials and won't be using the shared account anymore; so no need to actually disable the NCM view on that shared account.

Correct, it only manipulates traffic priority queues "if" L3 QoS is configured. Incidentally, if you decide in the future to configure QoS, shaping is the preferred method for ethernet interfaces. (lesson learned the hard way ) D
