christopherbell, There's multiple levels to this. 1. http://www.solarwinds.com/documentation/Orion/docs/OrionNPMAdministratorGuide.pdf Page 921, there is a section on how to configure UCS. 2. Once you have UCS monitored, make sure your vCenter environment is monitored. Page 277 of the above guide. 3. The individual guests…

I second the notion of Bain_606....this is exactly what I'm looking for as well. D

While the word "seemless" should never be used to describe anything IT, ever...the upgrade can be accomplished in place. Just follow the upgrade instructions in the documentation, and ensure you are running compatible versions of NPM, NTA, and VNQM. If you are running NPM 10.6 and NTA 3.11, you are good to go (that's what…

jsterril, This appears to be a long time issue with Cisco code. I'm also seeing it on my 12 port 3850s running 3.3.5. I plan to upgrade to the latest 3.x code over the holiday's, maybe it will be fixed. Re: Hardware Health Misreporting Temps on Cisco 3850 D

All, This is my router screenshot, I've done something similar with switches, and I'm working on firewalls. While I can't show the details, I'll list the resources I have on each tab: Management tab: Management resource - column1 Custom Properties - column1 Node Details - column1 Polling Details - column1 Dependencies -…

Do you by chance have the NCM "Config-Archive" configured? If so, a copy of all the downloaded config's are placed in that directory and NEVER cleaned up. I have a ton of history. D

collins4941 Are you positive NPM is causing all the pain? I suspected this a while back and found that someone placed a new print server on the network that was scanning all the RFC1918 IPs ranges. I've also see IPAM create a nightmare during it's discovery process. The next time you see the issue, try to run this command…

bptivnan, Such a report is not really possible. You can get a 24-hour report or a report based on "today," but getting a daily "business hour" report is a fairly difficult ask unless you are a SQL genius. (which I'm not) D
-
chimene, Were you able to get this working? As stated, we should probably start with the basics. * Is SNMP polling working for you? If not, please see this posting: snmpd.conf EXAMPLE.txt * Once you have SNMP polling configured and working, then you have several options. You can use SAM and try to "automatically" discover…

This one works pretty well... How to create a report displaying the Last Time Data was Transmitted or Received on a Switch Port UDT is better at it, cleaner...but the above gets you a quick and dirty report over time. D
-
Are you sure you have the correct NCM profile applied? It may properly "auto-detect," and usually does...but just in case, apply or create an NCM profile for the WLC and see if that fixes it.
-
The easiest way I found to do this is to create a "test" user. Then go to your views, make a copy of the one you want, modify it, and apply it to the test user account. D

byoder, They have switch port mapper for the web, but it has a different name. Have a look at UDT...Device Tracker and Switch Port Management | SolarWinds D

NTA is an embedded module of NPM (once installed), so NPM server is the answer. The "NTA server" is nothing more than a DB for NTA. SW was able to get better performance using something other than SQL for NTA data processing. D

To my knowledge importing the current ACL, modifying it, and pushing it back out is not possible through an automated means. You can do this manually, but depending on how many switches, that could be quite a task. Are you putting the new entries at the end of the existing ACL? If so, just add them...the script will be…

Bump... Just trying to get more opinions on this. So far, Richard and branfarm confirmed that legecy opinions haven't waivered; which is good because it would just mean more work for me. D

igatrinit, donthomas is correct, you will double your traffic. Here's a sample configuration to get you started on v9: flow exporter NTAexp destination <NTA server IP> source <interface with the IP NPM is using to monitor the device> output-features transport udp 2055 ! ! flow record NTArec description IPv4 monitor match…

jmmd, These are my recommendations, as they are the enterprise-tier platforms that you can grow into over time. However, if you don't need something like these, you can also look at ipMonitor. ipMonitor is a great tool also, but is entry-level and limited in capability. NPM - there's a virtualization component built into…

Bump! It appears this is caused because several newer devices are not supported yet. WLC7510 AP2602 WS-C2960C-12PC-L WS-C3560C-8PC-S

Hi, nickzourdos, The answer is yes. In SAM, 2 of the application components are "HTTP Monitor" and "HTTPS Monitor." About 3/4 of the way down the page is a "Search String" field. Just put what you are searching for in there, in this case "error." Then you can enable the default "Component" alert in Orion. Or you can build…

ken.melvin@crowehorwath.com, You placed an NTA question in the NCM forum. I'm sure by now you've received your answer in the NTA forum, but in case you didn't...page 64 of: https://support.solarwinds.com/@api/deki/files/9966/NetFlowAdministratorGuide.pdf D

steve2k4, I'm pretty sure this is not possible. The only thresholds I'm aware of for Groups are under the Advanced properties of the group itself, "Status Rollup." And you only have 3 choices: Show best, Show worst, or mixed (the default). And the only alerts you can really configure are the "out-of-the-box" down or…

Ok, let's keep this simple. On the controller, go to: Management - SNMP - Communities. Upper right corner, select "New" Community Name = "whatever read-only string you use" IP Address = a couple options - IP of the NPM server, if you only have 1 NPM server / if you have additional pollers, select the appropriate IP of the…

Autonomous APs or LWAPP? LWAPP, you monitor the controller, SW handles the rest. Autonomous is 1 at a time with static IPs... D

Well, guys... Both, now that I think about it. Steven Klassen mentioned a great immediate solution that meets the obvious "immediate" needs. But Jiri Cvachovec also brings a great idea to the table for long term compliance. 2 small issues that I need to work through: 1. I've never used SWQL for anything, and the SWQL…

Fairly positive this can't be done, but it would make a great feature enhancement request. The catch: if a router or switch is drop shipped to a remote location with no config on it, how are you going to access it remotely? You need to at least have a static IP, or DHCP configuration, on the uplink. And all the routing has…

Should probably have added: Orion Platform 2018.2 HF6, IPAM 4.7.0, VNQM 4.5.0, NCM 7.8, NPM 12.3, NTA 4.2.3, NetPath 1.1.3
