In theory? But that assumes they can/want to hire someone who touches Cobol, and....welp.

Will 2020 be the year?
-
2019 bump. This would go a long way towards quantifying citrix status better
-
michal.hrncirik I know you can't provide specifics, but is there a general timeframe (2-3 months or x quarter of the year, etc) where the goal is to have some of these features implemented? I feel like it's been quite a while to see some of this stuff.

I think having netpath log into things is probably in the same boat as having netpath do ICMP. We're still asking it to do something it's not designed to do in both instances. In one, sometimes we don't have a choice. If I have a path from A -> B that *only* includes ICMP (read: SIP trunk), I don't have an option of…

I love whenever this comes up. The one I learned now, that I wish I knew then was: Always know when to step away, and always know when to push onward. Basically, that feeling when you're on the edge of success but need to take a break, or when you're feeling that you need to stop something but really shouldn't. We may be…

I didn't like stormwinds I tried it before, but it just looked too...generic? Their a+ courses which I looked at for fun were disappointing to me. I suppose training is training, although having mentors to bounce ideas off and resources to practice with are just as important as the quality of the materials in that sense.

clearly more than 0 people, although it doesn't seem commonplace

ding we know this is in progress on some level, is the goal to get it out in the next significant release or some other timeframe? Please help us understand where our expectations should be I do understand that even said releases don't have a timeframe but it'd be nice to know if this is on the next one vs pushed further…

I concur, which I believe makes this a bit of a bug as much as a FR.
-
stevenwhunt I know there's a lot that goes into # of elements vs processor speed/load, among other things. I think it should be that simple, if you think about the concept. The easiest to do this would be to multiply polling load (L)x number of pollers on an individual server (P). So if you have 1 poller your polling load…

Need to remember to correctly use your solarwinds tools, aka don't turn on things without understanding what you're doing. I just found we were using QOE turned on for a ton of crap (all the defaults) which was hammering our DB, and we aren't even looking at QOE.
-
At the moment I can't even imagine your dev env. lol.

extra <3 because mulan

I always say time and time again that schneier and krebs are a must read for everyone, whether you're directly involved with security or not. The cisco security blog at http://blogs.cisco.com/rss/security/ is pretty good for those involved with cisco, though. I'd put techdirt on that list too as they keep track of…

1: Actual budget for the hardware and tools needed 2: Recognition of the employees who are great here (no need to shame the opposite, just the recognition) 3: More money for me (sure) 4: Time with the great employees to let them actually explore the solarwinds suite more

there already *WAS* AI in the 60s, so...not much has changed, to be honest.]

bumping further
-
I was explicitly looking for being able to do this without having to turn on hubble because of noise. So, more selective but basically hubble.
-
I like that this well detailed so that it can benefit anyone who may not have had to go through a major upgrade in a major environment.
-
I'm guessing people make their own queries to this, seeing as it's 2016 and we still don't have this.
-
2018 bump!
-
This reminds me of a part of what @"jreves" has been working on. It's along the lines of some of the stuff I'm trying to quantify
-
I think if I recall correctly I just took what was made into a report/chart/etc and put it into a "custom sql query" as a component on a page, in a few instances. Not quite the same though
-
Meh, I don't think I saw this until after it was closed
-
I wonder if this is something serena would want to look into? This is explicitly *not* standard discovery. More of a discovery-lite.
-
All of the posts here have been quite accurate. We have a poignant disconnect between IS/security and (everyone else) at my present job. Supposedly this should turn around, but in the meantime patching is simply an afterthought for most folks here who don't even understand the significance/prominence of doing so. It's…
-
rschroeder I was referring to how FTD is hard to monitor in addition to ACI seemingly being somewhat hard to monitor today. Like, everything Cisco seems to be doubling down on being Cisco centric again currently.
-
The *only* problem I have with stacked pollers is that the only true ways you see it are in both licensing and polling load. Polling load should really be a number measured like % processor time or % idle time, so that if you had 3 polling engines your polling load could theoretically go up to 300% - like how %time is…

There is actual service-now integration with Orion, but you would want to use the SDK. There isn't any direct API to the best of my knowledge. Alert Manager can tie into this as well, as necessary. It really depends on how you're using service-now.
