Two thoughts uniswtc : 1: have you created an alert specifically for this or configured one? 2: have you created a dependency for this, such as (group) is dependent on (application or service), which can then be associated via custom properties? Alerts aren't really turned on for something out of the box unless you…

Idea: Add a custom property on the node of contact information, have that displayed as part of the "custom status objects" on a node? You go to a map, hit edit on it from the website, and go to "Edit custom map tooltips" and add your custom property to nodes. Of course, this depends on what you're trying to do which I…

Depending on where you're looking timlanister you may want to look at the configurable options for "Export" on a chart or edit the chart; to be able to look at a longer timeframe. Or you can look at the bottom of the chart and see if you can expand the bar underneath.

lmcbuilder / spx13320 did you ever get this monitored successfully? I may be testing this soon; at that point I may need to find out if we can monitor these soon.
-
Hmm. I think I need more monitors, compared to adatole Also as others mentioned, I'm really happy to use synergy as well. Office space cube life.

I believe jest4kicks had a thread working on that

Server health can be quantified through the SAM module wdouglass27, in my current prod environment it mirrors a lot of what you have and you can quantify server health via being able to successfully HTTPS login and get a response afterwards. Or you can use WPM for that, but it might be of less value because WPM won't…

2 things which may affect things slightly. 3rd I realized as I was typing this up! 1: You don't need a group as a parent dependency if it's only a single node/interface/etc being the parent. You're still going to be naming the dependency anyway, so this may be a moot point. If you have multiple devices in the parent group…

I'd wonder if the standard netflow bandwidth utilization component (on a view/page) might show it? Does the Top 10 NetFlow Sources by % Utilization chart actually update based on interface bandwidth and therefore said chart would show 30mb of bandwidth going from 30% utilization to 60% on the live chart component? Curious,…

I'm not sure where that sits but I would imagine the answer is "someday, 100%". There is nothing in the legacy report writer that can't be done in the web report writer - including full on SQL. Where to find it is not as explicit but it's there. You can even take legacy reports, copy the SQL, and import them into the web…

Count me in too katieb!

There are a few small notable differences with windows vs snmp for windows machines. Long term I agree 100% with adatole , in that basically SNMP support is never likely to go away and always has it's use, depending on the environment. I'd point out some stuff from his own doc that tend to lean towards favor of one…

FYI depending on how new "new" is, you might want to keep in mind new people/training issues in that you're probably going to need 3-6 months minimum to truly be comfortable with everything.

If you are not getting SAM hardware health from HP servers, my first guess would be because your agent is not on a current enough version. Update the HP SIM agent and you'll find you get the data. See the requirements here: Asset inventory and hardware health monitoring requirements in SAM - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help…

Done, but I had to set it to 1 day instead of 5 days. 5 days was....348MB? We do log a few specific things involving traps and syslog, notably RTCD as mesverrum mentions as well as power issues (phone reboots) which are written to a file and emailed. It is unfortunately treated as a firehose but that's also because we…

issakeitala : 1: what are you trying to do? Are you solely adding nodes via doing ping + SAM templates + some custom properties? 2: Are you modifying existing nodes or solely creating new nodes? 3: How often do you do this? There is a network discovery that may work for this and/or you can edit multiple nodes at the same…

nikunj_8211 what do you mean? UNDP is a method to custom poll via SNMP OID. Device studio is designed to help you design a UNDP.
-
Uh, you're asking me about......windows tasks? Just use UTC as solarwinds does so that time changes are completely unimportant. Trying to accommodate timezones will literally make your life more difficult. UTC is absolutely what you should try to use. Just push the job back an hour to accommodate time changes that UTC…

You could have a custom property updated via SWIS API from Service-now, theoretically? I never got around to testing this and I'm not in a service-now environment anymore. I believe Jfrazier or bluefunelemental might have been at companies that use service-now? Asking DanielleH if she can move this to the SAM forum…

Just speculating here based on how MS does a lot of azure services, but is it possible it's because of how outlook operates in that netpath isn't recognizing something? MS's cloud infra does modify packets for their internal networks. Tagging cobrien for this one.

Here are some existing options graeme.brown Unmanaged Nodes/Interfaces report with From/To date Re: Report on unmanaged node duration Re: Unmanage Node Report ?

Let me tag the new NPM PM to see if he can make any comment to head this one off. jason.carrier do you know of justin.alcorta's ticket and/or can you confirm if this is an internally tracked bug?

meech you need more slots! That's like 10 people? Anyway, here's a screenshot of ours. I'm not really digging how it was set up, so far.

Saying aggregation doesn't seem to add up with what you're doing fully; what are these interfaces? Are they physical? Logical? ? You can probably/easily do 2-4 interfaces on a single chart in perfstack, either stacked onto one chart or stacked as a page by itself (with 4 charts or so). I recommend the latter for easier…

Are you polling AD to resolve the hostnames? that may be needed and is a part of UDT that tends to help with that
-
Uh, what direction of integration are you talking about? Solarwinds -> BMC or BCM -> solarwinds? Do they (BMC) have some sort of connector? I don't know much about BMC Truesight, but it sounds like it's another platform similar to solarwinds. Unless I'm mistaken, aren't you looking at similar functionality across both?

I've noticed this issue as well, capacity calculations not only don't separate out physical/virtual memory vs disks, but also don't appear to be even remotely accurate.

2: What we're missing is CLICK TO DRAG. I'm sorry, but holding a key to drag is ridiculous and unintuitive. Either have a button for select mode/drag mode, or a button to press to toggle between. I've not seen applications where click to drag is not a standard feature and I find that grinds my gears That part is a total…

The important part is to engage the team responsible and make sure they understand the implications of this polling. It's one thing to say yes as mesverrum correctly and knowingly points out, but it's another to make sure that you're polling the right ones in the right places with appropriate alerts and dependencies and…
