I think Futurama has your answer to make sure you don't miss this year's ThwackCamp! The Device That Let's You Speed and Slow the Passage of Time - YouTube

I love atlas for it's capability but it's limited by module - so if you don't have the modules you need, you can't truly map things out the way they could be done. Atlas can/should be one of the shiniest toys to wave front and center but as grantallenby rightfully points out, it needs a lot of love. I'll email you some…

Thanks to serena for the dev assisted upgrade. Not only that, but we ended up adding ~5 modules at the same time. The upgrade was completely smooth, and the only true issues we had were file transfer limitations and not solarwinds ones. +10000 for smoothness Post upgrade, however, I have approximately 3 cases open for…

Wait, what? Isn't this just about people being the weakest points in security yet again? I kid, I kid. These mitigation suggestions should ideally already be standard practice in a number of environments, no? EG: review who traffic is going to, identify things through known signatures, use something like SIEM, watch out…

I was told (and discovered firsthand) that VNQM is not compatible with the orion core update that you'd get from NPM 11.5/SAM 6.2. Maybe michal.hrncirik can confirm if anything has changed in that regards. edit: whoops misread 4.1 and not 4.2

I see a subinterface. Do you have the corresponding VLAN properly configured? Is there anything actually sending traffic across the VLAN? Just checking basics here first.

Leon Adato There is a missing pro & con of SNMP polling a windows server: You will see (and can monitor) all of the virtual interfaces, thus causing UX/UI confusion to other users who are doing SNMP walks via "list resources" in Orion and making it harder than it should be to identify actual interfaces. On the plus side,…

What you're looking for is referred to by solarwinds as view or account limitations. Settings -> all settings -> manage accounts -> edit the particular account or group as desired. Note that groups check permissions top down so the top item in the list gets checked for permissions first. Within the account or group, you…

I'm watching for this as well, sja

jblankjblankyou kinda should start working with mblackburn . lol.

So you added dashboard.meraki.org as a node, set to the IP it needed to be set to along with providing cloud API credentials, and you saw no org's? cobrien / jason.carrier is there some basic step that might be overlooked when this happens? I recall there being issues if you try to add a controller after adding the…

There are two statements in the image referencing help files. Have you looked into either one of those? I'd also recommend you consider opening a ticket or calling support if you're not able to make it past the configuration wizard.

You need time and willingness to be able to show them what can be done. If you're not able to sell it to them, then you need someone else on your team trying to help you with that or both. Or a different target audience, such as said team's managers. It's not going to happen overnight and there's always going to be plenty…

I'm not jumping into any hotfixes until NPM and SAM put out their next release (sam 6.2.1, etc). Some things are broken but nothing is terrible, as a result.
-
cobrien may be able to give some updates as to the status of switch stack monitoring/alerts as it is fairly new in Orion.

Is this trap being sent to your poller already jest4kicks ? I wonder if you could have an alert based on said trap with the conditions above without relying on custom SQL at all. Like, alert if trap A = value and not B, done. I'm fairly sure that could be configured, although SQL is also good.

Are you talking about playing the recording from the same POC manually via the recorder or playing the recording from the POC on your PC via the recorder? If it's playing it on your PC, you're not following the same path of network traffic as the POC.

I had the same issue CourtesyIT, I was doing upgrades on monday (MLK), and found out that you have to uninstall your hotfixes in order to be able to patch the AP, after having done hotfixes on the main poller. I'm wondering if stevenwhunt will have a patch in the works to fix this problem, to go in hand with the idea of…

You can also just force these nodes to poll solely through SNMP, if that would work as well. Then you'd get a down alert when you don't get an SNMP response.
-
I'd leave alert eval as low as possible, but is this right for what you're trying to do? You want the alert to trigger if something happens more than twice, right? You can set this as a threshold on the application monitor itself (edit the template), and then have an alert based on the threshold status such as…
-
Wouldn't you want to add a SAM application monitor for event log monitoring and then just alert based on that SAM monitor? Seems kinda backwards to try to hardcore that into the alert, harder than it has to be. Here's one of the application monitors I'm using, for example. It watches for event log matches and if an error…

Apparently a bunch of HP laptops are showing up as unknown, unfortunately. You'd think we'd get the base MAC table such as DC4A3E.

Preview is a preview, therefore it shows information which may not be the same node you're expecting. Submit your changes/hit done and look at the page, is it any different? HTH (hope this helps)

This is a scenario that happened because jobengine/collector had failed to function properly. If you want to make sure it doesn't happen again I'd run permissionschecker - https://support.solarwinds.com/Success_Center/Orion_Platform/Knowledgebase_Articles/Check_permissions_using_the_Orion_Pe… and validate that you didn't…

huh. I have an issue where every 1-2mos our DNS resolution for NTA just tends to die, but simply restarting the netflow service fixes everything. The tech actually kinda sucked, because he suggested moving things to on demand instead of persistent DNS - which isn't a fix for the issue at hand. I don't have the opportunity…

with 12.1 I'm noticing that something seems to be a little off with exporting to PDF.Mainly, gray background/weird formatting/incorrect formatting. I'm going to open a ticket unless adatole or someone else has heard of such issues?

If it's a hybrid cloud environment with some on-prem you should be able to monitor both the cloud env and the on-prem. It's just a matter of how you want to do it. For example, you can monitor the cloud subscriptions or you can simply push the solarwinds agent to them if it's involving virtual VMs, or you can find if they…

A group can contain anything within it. You can put transactions, SAM monitors, NPM nodes, components of a SAM monitor, interfaces from an NPM node, volumes, all of them can be in there. So I think it's more a question of "Where do you want to go from there?" However, the focus of a group is explicitly availability - so…

Orion. So $Orion(prod/dev/uat)(function)(00-99). If you have 100 Orion servers you have a problem.
