This is what the HA docs suggest, actually. They say you can do HA across the WAN as long as it's the same subnet. It's quite ideal vs what happens with FOE, although you need your DB in two places as well.

I've had a support case open pretty long regarding this and I find delays don't really affect anything here It's not load times, but it definitely appears to be SEUM issues. In what ways are the playback player and the recorder not using the exact same IE, aside from that they run from different credentials than whatever…

dmel you need to get the new environment up and running; keep in mind this is when your 30 day trial begins effectively. Get your scripts together and then it's go time.
-
Yep, this is basically the idea as wluther mentions. There are scripts to copy the nodes themselves over to the new environment and once you do that you can export/import custom properties for the ones you must import, but the planning here does make a huge difference including pruning old custom properties. There are…

I think this is very enlightening cobrien . I have an idea but not sure how you feel about it. What if you put a rating next to an FR of "amount of time it would take" from a 1 meaning "easy fix" to a 10 meaning "this will take a majority of our development resources"? Just so people can get a feel for what their votes…

Go to the node summary page by clicking on a node, and click customize. Then you need to add: Routing neighbors as a resource. It'll then apply whenever something has routing neighbors. I'm basing this on your own screenshot.

That is super, super useful aLTeReGo . How come that doesn't show up as a variable to select when trying to build variables? That is immensely valuable.
-
Hmm? I tried scalability installer on my AP and it didn't work. Support told me expressly not to run it, as well. Wonder what's missing.
-
So should we be doing scalability engines installer instead of going through what CourtesyIT mentioned aLTeReGo ? I already upgraded to NPM 12.01 and applied hotfixes before trying to upgrade the AP and now have to go back and downgrade the main poller, just to upgrade the AP it seems.

To be truthful, as much as I wish solarwinds to do better at this they are miles and miles above almost every other company I've ever worked with for support. It's just that *Some* of the people that handle their support are awful, and hopefully they'll figure out how to improve that a bit.
-
Yeah, I had one take over a week to finally get a response on something we needed a response from far, far, far before that. I have noticed in the last 6 months my faith in support has gone from "A great resource" to "I'm avoiding using support" because it's been that unresponsive. I never saw things that bad on my…

actually, NTA Report export to PDF not formatted correctly - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help and Support seems related.
-
Export to PDF is the only *visible* option if it's a classic report as far as what options you can see andrethompson . If you create a web-based report, it'll show "export to CSV" in the corner. Or, you can even take the classic report from report writer and copy the sql into the web report if you want management to see…

Yep, LEM (Log/Event Manager) is the tool for this.
-
I hope that's sarcasm? That's not really a solution, let alone an appropriate one for anything in production in any situation at any time. If you are disabling UAC for any reason other than personal preference when you 100% understand what you are doing, you are simply both potentially breaking any semblance of security…

Noted. I will test and see.

Hah, that's completely fine! I'm always happy to go to Thwack and get some great ideas or find out an idea was bad. Always useful.

So, the problem we have is the route all internet traffic goes today. Which is (Every site) -> Site A, over MPLS and then out the Internet circuit for non-internal traffic. So, if site A is down, we're out of luck in various ways. It sucks, yes. Meanwhile, when the internet is the only part that's down at site A we can…
-
Yeah. unfortunately group ones don't seem to work as far as I can tell? I noticed on the Edit map tooltips page there is an option to edit the map tooltips for groups, but i don't even see a list of variables. Any guesses who we can tag to get the potential variables list ecklerwr1 ? Is it syntax maybe, that it should be…
-
Of course I live for that post on a few levels. However, those are *node* properties, and I'm talking group custom properties - which don't necessarily populate. On second thought, maybe I forgot label properties.

Hate to suggest it, but repair options (config wizard/repair all)? Any sort of errors in your solarwinds application eventlog?
-
So you added your individual AD account as a user? That doesn't sound like an administrative solution as much as a bug.
-
Yep, 100%. A: run config wizard. B: remove the website, wipe it and run config wizard (to start it fresh). These are going to be your base options.
-
Evanios does not appear to be free at all, just a super ridiculous limited trial.
-
I'm going to say that overall most things are solid - at least new interfaces and whatnot, but 11 -> 11.5 has been had a ton of minor bugs. So yes, NPM/SAM were never broken, but left with caveats in every scenario. "It works generally, but if you do *this* then *this* breaks", or "this doesn't do this". I haven't seen…

jlhartsock keep in mind the *APE* installer has changed if you're not on at least NPM 12.01. See: NPM 12.0.1 Release Notes - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help and Support . First you upgrade your primary and then you can download the new APE which is a smart installer and basically handles the rest. If you haven't upgraded…
-
jlhartsock most upgrades now range in the 30m-1h ish, primary or APE. They have a new installer and it's beyond significantly faster. serena can probably vouch for how much the installer has made a difference but I don't know if she can divulge average install time improvements as percentage.

rschroeder my company had (laughably) been paying for FOE for many years and never implemented it. Money 100% down the drain. That aside, that changed when I came onboard. I absolutely dropped the idea of using FOE for using HA and am in the process of getting the hardware to enable HA sometime in the vicinity of (really…
-
Hmm. cobrien is there a stated timeline for new version of FOE? That's a pretty big deal.
-
That's what I was thinking as well I find those two to be very useful templates.
