So yes , it'll see every item on a switchport: it will use LLDP and CDP, so that means switchport to phone to laptop will show up as phone and laptop on the same switchport. I'll pm you some screenshots. Export no idea, never got to testing. There are some canned reports. RW switch (port shutdown) is tied to manage node if…

That is literally the easiest thing: have an alert based on your custom property of true/false. Say the property is "maintenance" or "production", either way depending on your preference. Alerts only based on things not being in maintenance, or things being in production. Done. Now, have the dynamic group *ALSO* filter the…

aLTeReGo Is there a way to run the DNS testing from a node, but have it rely on DNS from (elsewhere)? Otherwise installing this on non-DNS servers doesn't work.
-
There are like 5 different ways security patches screw an orion install, via not enough permissions.
-
The reason you lost variables akhasheni is because you changed the monitor type from SAM monitor (APM: Application) to SAM component. (APM: Component). Any of the variables that are triggered/have types from SAM application that don't exist for SAM component and vice versa won't work. Component is for an individual…

zennifer I never even specified a trap-source interface, either

I wouldn't want to go too far but I would agree that the support I got from a signapore agent for a SAM issue was less than helpful, while direct SW employees have always been very helpful.

bourlis I get what you're saying about high demand, but to be honest - the demand is a bit higher than you think if you're not tethered to a specific locale. Maybe it's the MVP + cert or something else, but on the other hand I get literally 5+ solarwinds job offers a day, and not the linkedin spam kind. There's so much…

Uh, if you only care that SNMP works - require polling via SNMP (which is an option). Suddenly, SNMP fails and node is down. Problem solved?

I've worked with SCOM and every so often I see him post something about how SCOM is better. I have to say as someone who has done full on SCOM and full on Solarwinds admin that you need multiple teams of people who are full on MS techs to handle SCOM successfully and even then SCOM is laughable when it comes to network…

If you're monitoring all of that in SCOM then you aren't monitoring that in SCOM. Plenty of those are things that in most environments aren't even a concern. Seeing this many things pasted from scom makes me wonder if you've read the mp guides properly, because this is easily too much.

I think that's what he was going for? I just knew you'd know a cleaner/faster way than me trying to remember off the top of my head
-
This is one of the potential many reasons solarwinds advises that you do not reboot the DB server unless mandatory for patches, etc.
-
thsukudu will look into this, thank you. rschroeder I do plan updates; but priority currently is unfortunately elswhere

pranavpparmar shouldn't you be trying to connect to service-now from Orion, not the other way around?
-
aLTeReGo so why is it even on the customize map tooltips page? What is the point of using built in "Macros" that are already included for a group? Why are they being referred to as custom macros when it is merely a custom property? Why can I reference any "macro" (custom property) for a node, but I can't do it for a group…

4001 errors were exactly what I figured you'd find, good deal.
-
Maybe you have a better experience than I do, but in addition to the initial delay easily half the tickets I get I'm rehashing what I've already tested with the tech. It may be that my issues are more technical than other folks, but I literally try to lay out everything I've done up front and they still follow the scripts…

kcai , jiri.tomek pretty much laid out the requirements to try to fix this. It ultimately boils down to checking what account you use and what permissions it has. A lot of this would be fixed if WPM was using the latest versions and/or supported other browsers too, but that's probably more a product direction/…
-
Leon Adato I'm with you philosophically - I dislike most things Microsoft, too, but I didn't know that people still actively suggested disabling UAC anymore? The official MS stance has always been "If you're having UAC problems with an installation, the developers of that app need to fix their application" not "User…

ryan.davis26 there is a howto in the success center, just follow this one It is basically just delete the directory, essentially. Rebuild the Orion Website - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help and Support also: 1: run config wizard afterwards as an admin - you only have to run it for website (not db or whatever) 2: do not…

I don't feel like 7.5 has improved this a whole lot. I'd like a way for us to import the data instead of basically manually filling in the blanks. If it's only updated with every new version of NCM, this is always going to be behind.
-
This is generally the easiest way. When you go to add a node that originally was assigned to a (polling engine that no longer exists), it'll basically just point the agent to the new server. I forgot the method under manage agents, but it'll look like you're fresh deploying but you won't end up doing so.

bmoline you have two options. 1: wait for serena to get my FR implemented (already in working on) to bypass the invalid cert problem. Test it in beta! 2: use HTTP for now (blech, I know).

Even before I get into my own desires meech, wluther hits on things I'd like to see. The "All components with problems" was top of my list. Everything he links people basically should be doing, but it's only needed because the ux doesn't have these things built in.

tdanner has this status changed? Is there any way to have a powershell script grab the alert context from when an alert triggers, so that I could pass it off via REST to other REST API things such as Service-now?
-
My thoughts exactly, Jim Thompson . I'll be watching the thread for a couple weeks before considering this, but I am extremely happy to see this finally move forward into an RC.

Your request is different bhavanareddy. Make sure you have proper SNMP privileges to get that information and update your MIB DB if it's old (it's a download from the customer portal). New versions of NPM by default include newer MIB db's but the mib DB available is updated regularly as well. Download includes…

Many people (including myself) have tried to point this out. Your Cisco rep could have told you the correct ID in about 30 seconds, though It can take a long time for the report to process.

You're completely fine murat.h, just let it run int he background until it finishes - unless the process itself is unresponsive?
