Haha. I think they're going to need to hit NPM 12 for that and get global search finalized.
-
For availability, taking SAM monitors and wrapping them up into a group or group of groups along with the SQL query for components with problems (targeting things as appropriate) might be your best bet to make this an easy at a glance informational tool.
-
Thank you for looking. So, actual bug? Do you need anything in particular to track that as an internal bug? I had one generic value actually work - ${Status} if it matters tdanner .
-
This isn't outside of expected product marketing behavior, but whether it is ignorance or malice I'm not going to attempt to guess.
-
As a FYI, if you're having 4001 errors you likely need to look at tuning your DB, tuning what you're doing with solarwinds and/or adding more resources. Modifying your netperfmon db settings is absolutely not going to fix if you're having DB 4001 errors. Netperfmon is just going to let you change the sql connection pool…

bobmarley Karlo.Zatylny is the guy who made this. I would start tagging him and asking questions here because he's literally the most technical person at Solarwinds to discuss topology with. I'd read his replies ASAP.

Ping will certainly generate *less* traffic, but if ping and/or ping via SNMP aren't options then you don't have that many options unless they allow to ping via a proxy? If you can't reach an external node you can't really do anything with it then, in that sense. That may be your limitation. We have firewalls on which ICMP…

WMI and SNMP by themselves are ordinarily not that high impact if you're just polling for basic performance metrics. We're talking sNMP is .01 and WMI is .05 (of 1%). If you're adding in SAM polling on top of that it's a different story.

I would think this might be a network solution as opposed to a technical solution. Probably something like a SPAN from the port that's sending data to the Orion server to (location 2/3/specific separate VLAN/etc). Basically, the data's going to get sent more than once somehow.

2017-08-11 12:09:42,170 [6] WARN SolarWinds.InformationService.Contract2.InfoServiceProxy - Support! -- LONG RUNNING INVOKE: 23936.8034 ms: DownloadConfig:Cirrus.ConfigArchive Is this hitting a device with a huge config nei4352 and holding things up? Have you checked maximum number of simultaneous config downloads in the…

I believe this is data from the config, I don't remember if it's set system name or another variable but I do recall it is something configurable (but not normally required). Let's ask Dez - where does system description populate/where should we look? Is that in the NCM admin guide? kristofer is mentioning how the NCM…

That is correct. You're doing the right thing. If you want a group of objects to be dependent on the parent, then you need to have or create that group. If you want it to be a single object, define accordingly.
-
I do have a FR pertaining to this concept, if it ever happens:
-
I understand. I did indeed notice that it didn't populate until that point.
-
yeah NTA enabled NBAR2 and will even warn you constantly now. Like "HEY FIX YOUR STUFF FOR NBAR2" (on every device capable of it that's receiving flows). Difficulty: remember to actually tell your devices to export flows in netflowV9 or later, obviously
-
Noted. I forgot that it could be left blank Thanks!
-
yep! you have everything from pre/post policy mapping to individual classes of traffic. Just make sure you understand your own QOS policy before you try to interpret the data.
-
This is not what I'm saying. I'm not saying just hit "repair" on permissions checker. I'm saying check explicitly what it says you need and correct it. Don't assume that hitting "repair" on permissions checker will do the job. It may say you need permissions to a specific account to that folder for example, and hitting…

Umm, did I miss something? You can't have zero for maximum worker processes in IIS, so the default is 1 - unless we're not talking the same thing?
-
I have no idea, but I'd change the port and test and see if that works?
-
Agreed, I felt like erring on the side of caution in the past here (and still might unless installers get more unified). I remember old installers that would mysteriously fail if they weren't run as admin, for example.
-
I would also add two questions: 1 *where* is the DB? Hopefully not on the same machine? 2: how many nodes?
-
Yay! Thank you aLTeReGo . I thought we'd need a symbolic link but wasn't sure if that would break Orion or not.
-
Yeah, and if asset inventory doesn't work as bluefunelemental is indicating, you could always use a custom property that is then associated with asset inventory jbiggley (and thus show up on that page). Like if you have warranties for HP/Dell that are expired but now handled by a third party extended warranty, at least to…
-
No worries, I've tagged kcolgan (my colleague) as he is a good candidate for this one.
-
Yeah I take that back,I was incorrect. I guess it's been so long since I made a trap rule I forgot I was doing so in the trap viewer - at least that I can recall.
-
It's 2017 silverbacksays and I don't think I ever found an answer to this myself. I wonder if aLTeReGo or stevenwhunt have an answer? Are report modifications captured in any sort of audit log? I didn't even see it as an option in message center.
-
I can agree with the concept. Support case is 770683. An issue is, that each thread can't use the same account and thus means that the only way to use the same monitoring account across players is then to a: have more players or b: play very few transactions. Is this then a limitation of WPM(SEUM)? This means that the tool…
-
Ok, so second half of the question - is there any particular reason this wouldn't populate in asset inventory and instead defaults to net-snmp?
-
In contrast to that question, any known new issues with the RC thus far?
