It was in 2.1 and it's in 2.2 , you're correct aLTeReGo. The catch is you can't edit/add them directly to a transaction via editing that transaction, you have to go through custom properties editor and/or view/edit custom properties within that menu to add them. (Please move this to being able to be edited directly from…

I know you've been all over the place with SWUG's and everything else, so I hear ya. Thank you!

To mesverrum's point and something I noticed as well - if you don't need to monitor a specific interface for traffic and errors, don't. There are options under individual interfaces in NPM beyond "monitor/not". Unfortunately NPM is a bit of a fail in that regards in that by default it will select every active interface…

That's what UDT is for, bhavanareddy . Device Tracker - Device Tracking Software | SolarWinds UDT - Port Usage history / UDT - Port Usage history / UDT - Frequently Asked Questions - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help and Support / UDT - Port types monitored by default - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help and Support Please…

Completes with error? Also, once you submit everything you won't get a download option until it says the report is finished processing with Cisco. Is this past that?
-
That is correct.

To be honest what you are doing is twopart here: 1: solarwinds can poll anything through SNMP as long as you have an IP. jest4kicks got this to work through basically generic SNMP polling (which is what UNDP can do). See Cisco UCS trap-based monitoring dmeiser 2: not much appears to be configured or set up for UCS, and…

I'm liking reading these economies of scale here. Gives me some perspective of our ~5000 nodes globally.
-
Yeah, if you can control whether you span or not then just span it locally and call it done I should advise you separately to be extremely cautious with a NAC, they can break things much easier than secure things properly. Especially if they're relying on flows if they aren't also inspecting the sources of the traffic.
-
That is indeed what I was trying to suggest
-
A lot can be tied to group membership actually. That's pretty much core for Solarwinds.
-
Have you looked through Create and manage alerts for SAM - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help and Support ? All I can say is this looks more granular than is necessary. There's no node focus here, so why include nodes at all? Just application template (with a custom property on that template to only include the ones you want)…

Ha. I think you guys could/should actually sell that as something that you try to coordinate, because I think a lot of companies (surely not just my own) appreciate that on many, many levels.
-
Maybe you wouldn't chastise them for it, but I would. Why? It's not just one third party - which is why I said that was an example. It's all of them. Things like alert limitations are important for all third parties. All they'd have to do is enable HTTPS post (instead of HTTP and it's various issues) and suddenly all third…

Trust me, I hear ya I can't even recall how many times I'd tag michal.hrncirik or aLTeReGo or rob.hock or adatole trying to get their attention on things or features that felt painfully obvious at the time (sorry for excessive tagging, haha!). I've found if you can ask in a way that won't get them to have legal go…

Heh, thank you uniswtc - I get what you mean, but you're still talking windows scheduled tasks. I mean outside of the task, what is this task actually doing? Not just a strict talk about the time. From a time standpoint synchronize theoretically should follow the time changes and a lack of would do exactly as you…
-
I'm not sure I know 10% of this uniswtc, maybe you want to open a ticket to have them take a look at your dependencies?
-
Have you checked the account you're running the playback under, wpming ? I had a fishy and similar issue a few times where the account I made the recording under and the account I made the playback under were not the same (latter: local system).
-
Additionally, did you only care that they can't "go" anywhere within the map? Or did you want to create a view limitation so they can't access the items that were on the map?
-
I have gotten the service-now querying from the invoke-restmethod quite easily, once I understood powershell syntax. Now the Orion/SWQL side of the house, on the other hand, I'll probably figure out tomorrow. It's definitely feasible, I mean both tools can do a JSON API - it's just that the solarwinds one seems to be not…

Anything special as far as upgrade requirements going from 11.5 -> 11.5.2 RC? Or just straight upgrade? I could consider testing it on our production network if it's just a regular upgrade and has some release notes
-
jblankjblank I tried that with a UNDP based alert and it simply triggered the alert on every single node in the node criteria, even after reproducing as above. Are you sure your lab is/isn't beta?
-
add someone as a friend on thwack, and then you can message them.
-
kgalway I would recommend coming up with a plan of action, and work this out with some folks who are good at architecting solutions - you are talking about designing the monitoring *framework* and that is a bit architectural. So you have logical design and then you have documentation to go with it. Alerting is also an…
-
same I think I've hit the point of diminishing returns, where everyone above me is really active and aside from being super active I don't expect position to change much/ever.
-
Just to be clear, you are talking fresh install of NPM 12 but not a fresh DB, right?
-
If you think it is SQL, re-run configuration manager which will test/re-initiate the SQL DB connections, but also run all of the steps suggested by Jim Thompson, they should solve the initial steps.
-
Wait, Voldemort/Sauron responded? *hides* Glad to help, always enjoying solarwinds products

jbiggley has scaled well past 100k IIRC, but he has gone through an enormous amount of effort to do so.

Hmm, good point, thank you. If it's just an eventlog monitor it would also make sense for someone to set it to an event for IIS they do want to monitor if they don't want it outright disabled.
