This is the purpose of unmanaging something currently - to suppress alerts
-
Pull from SN -> Orion (node CP). Table values - they are handled really, really easily with JSON via powershell. All that's left is me figuring out the syntax to do it from a SDK/SWQL perspective, and I'll post my powershell when I'm done.
-
Yeah we have 200 nodes which would be impacted I could probably SWIS creation of 200 alerts based on node URI, but I don't know if I'd consider that worth the effort involved when we barely have 1 trigger/week on average.
-
Yep, exactly. Dynamic group membership is based on the custom property, thus you can target the custom property for (everything).
-
Step one of a NAC is: don't rely on MACs for security, because it isn't a good way to rely on security at all. You're never going to control every device/control which vendors are being used and new stuff changes constantly. Only exception to device/vendor is usually in high security gov't/military, not much elsewhere.…

You are correct, the steps needed to identify things haven't taken place. Network discovery should probably come first if you've established your standard beforehand smttysmth02gt . Literally you're asking solarwinds to identify things that you've not given enough info. Should you not have a solution there, a good…

uniswtc you do know you can schedule unmanagement of any amount of nodes at the same time for a future date from the manage nodes page, without using the utility and based on your local time? This might be an easier short term answer. You can even add a component to a summary page that displays scheduled unmanagement…
-
Ok! I'll wait for RN and then upgrade, that was my only other requirement. Hard to ask someone to leap without looking first
-
uniswtc You have done the right thing with the alert, you don't need to modify anything else. When the node goes down it'll mark the child object (such as a group) as unreachable. Which is what you want. You just want the down node to remain.
-
Noted, I imagine size is the differentiating factor here. We have probably between a tenth to a fifth of what you have, at most. However, how do you deal with the excess noise of SCOM? I had an issue with it being perhaps too granular.
-
rob schlick that means you're done successfully. You have to wait for cisco to process the data and come back to you with it. Then it'll also get processed again by smartnet and you can see it in smartnet. The download link will light up when all that is done.

For clarification I don't mean the one in the recording but the actual WPM playback service on the remote machine.
-
Perfect, that is as I thought. Thank you muhammad.imran
-
I forget who is responsible for maintaining this thing these days. jpetkevich do you recall?
-
Ah, I thought you were somewhere around it. I guess I was mistaken on being over vs near
-
jvaughan this is almost entirely not an issue on new environment. New environment is 1 install for all modules and 1 config wizard at the end.
-
Actually, this is different and entirely resolvable via SAM, based on your last comment. You can have SAM attempt to log in to a service or check that a port is open. That's all HTTP. So ICMP isn't the correct approach for that, but it won't validate functionality beyond verifying that it can log in/that there is a…

tokey I would definitely try tdanner's suggestion here, that tends to be what's needed for the API.
-
If you're already looking at it this is as hands off as I'd think it needs to be for me - it's not like opening a ticket is going to change anything, no? Also, thanks tdanner and ecklerwr1 .

You can find this by default, assuming the defaults haven't been widely changed by RDP'ing to your orion server, loading up the Database Manager application (this will be installed), and clicking on "Add Default Server". This should tell you the name of the DB, but won't fix the need to migrate it. I don't suggest editing…
-
ooo! Maybe I should use this to monitor the mysql Netflow DB separate from the existing application templates.
-
I have been looking through this, and it looks like re-running config mgr has fixed a portion and part of it was a polling configuration issue on our side internally. I'll make more comments as we research further
-
You just did the part for discovery. The wording for the tool is "network discovery", but calling it discovery is accurate. For updating the properties, you have two easy options and one scripting one. 1: use the mange nodes page. Search for a matching criteria such as subnet, hostname, etc. Get your partial match, select…

akhasheni I would tend to agree it's inconsistent, but given that NPM 12 is on it's way "soon" (soon being a timeframe solarwinds hasn't given anyone) with an entirely different alerting scheme which will resolve a number of our issues, I'm not really worrying about trying to make it work in the short term. We'd be…
-
Interesting. Noted. That was half of the issue, though. The other half is angular/json based websites which are not functioning properly on the player (but do on the recorder).
-
Well, there are other ways that exist within NPM to solve that particular problem - if you look at hardware health on your routers it's going to show undefined/unknown when SNMP fails even if you can still ping em. That's out of the box, assuming you're using brands that they support hardware health on. So alert on unknown…

I believe wabbott can at least change your display name for your personally but they won't let you change your username
-
Yeah, I created PowerShell DNS lookup script with KMSigma today to do that Hopefully this will help others. Clarification: he did 99% of the creating.
-
Exactly what I was thinking of. I'm not forbidden, but I'm not making the jump again without such info. Once bitten, twice shy.

erdzzy did you receive any errors when you ran the configuration wizard? One other idea I suggest is running as admin the Orion Permission Checker - go to Program Files (x86)\Solarwinds\Orion and run the OrionPermissionChecker.exe - check and/or repair any errors. That's about all I have. I'd suggest you open a ticket with…
