I honestly felt the same, these weren't quite the kinds of ways I'd want to discern what I want out of monitoring. I want: - good metrics - good visibility - information accuracy - significantly better control over metric measurements, *not* ML/AI especially when it comes to linear regression (no thanks, solarwinds) - let…

My first quandary if I were to win this is "who do I shoot this at - my boss or his boss?"

adrydale the reason this works for you _UNASSIGNED is because _ comes first. It's still picking the first thing in the list. You could do __ and that would still be the first thing selected. This is echoing exactly what cahunt is saying, it's just a basic behavior: "select the first thing in the list", is probably what…

bump! Let's make desktop notifications useful!
-
I'm a bit conflicted on this, I like the introduction of significant new features lately but also would like to see cleanup of a lot of old stuff that needs updating.
-
Having installed a fresh QA environment, things are *very* different than stepping into an existing environment. Even the summary pages are drastically different! I'd love to see a side by side comparison option of "here's what you made" vs " here's what this came with", so people can realize what they've changed to create…

I wonder how long this will take before solarwinds starts looking into it as an actual feature. Bump I suppose.

I like this idea, logically speaking. Sounds nice on paper. However, I can see it getting complicated very quickly if it's not handled like how sonar does.

This is basically a part of
-
Ok I guess that's about the same equivalent as what I was trying to ask, more or less.
-
Would still be nice; bump!
-
I concur, this year has had some great discussions and posts from folks already!

I hate how they disguise privacy and all sorts of things or basically don't even try to introduce useful tools to people. I've never thought of a social media platform more devoid of basically any moderation tools, antispam, etc. Instead it's just "anything goes" and "who could've expected such a (Terrible thing) could…

2019 bump; still a nice to have

100% this is a simple and useful UI improvement. Tagging serena as a fyi.
-
So what about for all nodes instead of specifically agent managed?
-
I hope you didn't get a rid X on that one

I am amused people are hating on Yahoo now. Yahoo never, ever had any sort of QC or security controls on email. Literally this is not a new breach or a new issue. This is a 4 year old breach and not the last/first. Here's one announced form 2012 that obviously came (earlier than 2012). Yahoo security breach shocks experts…

Bump. It's 2016. meech / cobrien, do you guys know if something like this has been considered via one of the many Feature requests for this? I know it's probably not the biggest request but can certainly be considered a quality of life item, especially with Global Search being again disabled for NPM 12. familyofcrowes…

d09h some of us went last year, it was fun but also insane. I kinda want to do it again but not the way we had the conference room set up.
-
agreed, 100%. I mean there is no exact answer to this really, it boils down to "should it be programmable via API or should someone make a UI for you to interact with the API"?
-
Yep, and if you're not managing the SAN it's going to be quite hard to quantify the number of disks - which is somewhat hilarious if you're the solarwinds admin but naturally not the SAN admin.

I wonder if this is because the actual default setting in the database for mandatory custom properties is null, and yet it seems to select the first custom property item in the list. I have noticed this as well. Example: custom property a, b, c (String/text/NVCHAR from a database perspective). Mandatory property? Now all…

I noticed the same, and that seems a bit fishy to me. maria.bungau maybe a fix to the tuesday question as there are technically 2 ways to answer it?

DPA actually does make that claim somewhere. Mostly because it's not looking at as much stuff. I like appinsight for SQL a lot, but it is digging through a lot of data in a lot of places. Still though if appinsight for SQL is pushing a DB server over the edge the problem is still the DB server and not appinsight for SQL in…

is there a way we could enable someone to see the "manage nodes" view and all of the associated organization of that view, without being able to modify anything? The way things are sorted from "manage nodes" is better than any other list in Orion.
-
Going to add some possibilities to this, considering polycom has defined their own equivalent of a call data record via SIPfoundry Wiki - surely it can't be that hard to have VNQM be the listener and basically have the CDR collector also handle RTCP-XR? ding

I like this, and I think this would be a good feature to bring SAM closer to competition with the type of discovery that service-now is capable of.
-
your idea makes sense jemertz but even if I look at what you said it's higher at 10:48PM than it is at 4:21AM. Confusing patrick.hubbard can you help us all understand not (how to do the quiz question for the day) but how we should be leveraging perfstack to identify this information? Is the chart supposed to show a 95th…

Done. I still expect orgs to take a long time to transition because of course.
