I've not known about data normalization before. Now I read this and first and foremost humorously wonder if the solarwinds databases focus on data normalization or not. Looks like I've got some reading to do

I spoke about it with tdanner as he referenced core-bugs but never checked if it's changed. Doesn't look like it's changed, sadly.

I like the concept of a NAC but it is so significant of an idea that it takes a lot of time just to get people up to speed on using any particular NAC. I jumped into the use of a NAC on my new job here and it's taken me nearly 3 months to barely scratch the surface of our NAC - which tends to be have an implementation…

Trap example for jhynds : I have a trap from our APC's saying they're on battery. So, I'd really love to take the (previously UNDP) trap and then have it set the node to warning/down - which cannot be done with UNDP. Unsure if that changes with the 12.3 APC polling or not. Another example is when we get a trap that a phone…

If you want something hilarious, look no further than HEAT. HEAT is apparently something worse than BMC, which I've discovered the hard way.

I feel it's an important step towards defining solarwinds as truly being an enterprise solution. Even scom defines their architecture with a DW equivalent up front, and without that I can't imagine what happens if people want to look at trends past a year. Current state of solarwinds is that the database can get bogged…

Did everyone read past the part about *ALL* ?

I think I'm going to do this question last for the month, because seeing this many people have difficulties is concerning DanielleH was the wording on this one a little funny?

bumping, let's get some additional feedback here!

I think it's important for people to understand the capability of the tools and not make assumptions without trying them. I find that to be a problem in a lot of environments - legacy reasons, personal issues, etc where people just aren't open to "oh, a tool can make my life easier!"

Time management for sysadmins isn't just a book. That book is a way of life. The value cannot be overstated and it's always a great book to go back to and reread. Phoenix project is a must read for anyone in a rut within IT in general, and equally good to be obtained in audiobook format. Definitely curious about that…

Alternatively, self driving cars will drive for us, safely and conservatively!

This reminds me of UnDP Alerts in New Web Alerts .

Specifically, I believe I heard @"KMSigma.SWI" is going to blow something up with firecrackers All humor aside, SWUGS are great. You learn a lot, it's a good opportunity to connect with people and learn new stuff as well.

ah there's the ghost in the shell. Good, good stuff!

I see nothing wrong with containers as a concept, as long as it's understood at there are benefits and limitations in terms of their use. Is it realistic to only need a 10x20 space to spin up a cluster or some sort of server environment? Sure. Is it secure? Depends on how it's set up. Is it portable/does it need to be?…

Very, very different

I read up on the Amazon echo thing. Sadly, the press is not always technical and many people don't understand what the Amazon echo does/doesn't do. TLDR version which the article helpfully includes as well: What it does do: have the microphone on at all times/passively. What it doesn't do: perpetually transmit and/or store…

I like that one but it might be a little outside my budget for home use

I cannot highlight enough how fun this was, and how useful it was! Talking with everyone UX was a blast, talking with other MVP's and PM's was a blast. All of the information gathered from this is going to impact my day to day for a while to come. I'll definitely be looking forward to next year, and new 360 broadcast issues

Ha, ok

Hmm, maybe we should have a post on optimizing the website. Are you hosting the website separate from the main NPM install?

Looks nice, but definitely need more details before I'd form a solid opinion.

jreves replying late, but some concept of being able to quantify voice status in the suite beyond what the basic IPSLA's provide - which is nice but not necessarily everything.

What do we want? Time travel. When do we want it? It's irrelevant!
