Matt Make sure your: ESXi Vsphere 4.0 is updated Solarwinds 10 is updates SNMP support is turned on on your ESXi host When you configure the node in solar winds, it should look like this: Edit Properties of the following selected nodes: * blade2.nosm.local Name: IP Address: Type correct IP Address Dynamic IP Address (DHCP…

I"m not sure how the picture will turn out, but here are the screen prints from my Vsphere ESXI. I have 5 blade servers all running ESXI Vsphere 4 and Orion 10. For each Host, I get total CPU, memory, response time, packet loss, and nic status For each virtual machine, you get name, OS, state, memory size, cpu shares, IP,…

I definitely agree with you, it is a cool idea to map out the equipment like this, some of the power of Orion. I only do wep authentication, so we don't have usernames. But from the IP's, I can quickly look up the computer names if we have abusers on the system. We have the Cisco 1252 WAP's, but no controllers. I had heard…

We did a similar thing, except we didn't have controllers. The page gives a really good birds eye of the wireless infrastructure.

I had to add all known interfaces (about 15), as noted in the the instructions. Once you have done this, you will see which ones are actually sending the Netflow (my ASA was sending over 3 of them) Then you can delete the interfaces you aren't interested, that aren't sending netflow. I got mine working over the weekend,…

For myself, keeping maintenance costs down is important. Our medical school is more of a 8-5 Monday till Friday place. So 2 tiered support would be best, pay for extended if you want 7 * 24

I had a similar problem when I setup Netflow on my ASA's. ASA's were sending back netflow data on incorrect interfaces. To fix this I discovered the ASA's, and then added all interfaces into the monitoring (EVEN the down interfaces!!) Afterwards, all the Netflow data was shown. This might be your problem as well

I'm running VShere 4.0 with ESXi and Orion 10 on 5 blade servers It gives all the data for your VM's. To get info about your host, you must manually configure in SNMP communities.vmware.com/.../1378752;jsessionid=01D8D88E55D18BE6051D77A751387708 Dimitri

I run my SQL express and Orion on the same VM machine. Performance is fast, but I have a small install of only 100 nodes. I have my VM's split over 3 Data stores, 2 of them RAID 5, and 1 RAID 10 The Orion server is one of my most disk intensive VM's, so I run it on the premium RAID 10 Datastore. So the right answer might…

I've got two 4510, each with redundant supervisors. SolarWinds Orion Core 2010.1.0 SP1, APM 3.5, NPM 10.0.0 SP1, NTA 3.7 1995-2010 All Rights Reserved Never had any crashes. Chris, does it look like the Netflow IP's will be pre PAT'ing when captured from the ASA's? Thanks, Dimitri
-
This is good news that Netflow from the ASA's will soon be supported. We have a Router 7204 that could send us Netflow, but it is outside out firewalls. This not only makes collecting the data harder, but the collected data will only show the PAT'ed addresses, so it would not be nearly as usefull. As a current support…

I have the same problem, and was told to submit a feature request for XML API. You can vote for it here, and hopefully they will deliver. http://thwack.solarwinds.com/ideas/2288

I typically copy images from Google, or Visio, then paste them in paint. You can then crop them to just the size you want, select copy, then go to your Atlas and paste the image as a new object if you want to be able to move them around, or paste as background if that's what you want.

I usually go to Events Event Type, select Interface down, then select the date range You would need to run twice, once for up, then for down

I have the same problem, and was told to submit a feature request for XML API and Cisco is moving to XMLAPI instead of SNMP You can vote for it here, and hopefully they will deliver. http://thwack.solarwinds.com/ideas/2288
