Nice Article. Just in the process of replacing some 6500's one misbehaved a couple of times before giving up completely. Only got a few old switches waiting to be upgraded to use newer fiber technology to go before switching off the last 6500. then we start upgrading the whole campus.

disasters come in all shapes and sizes and the DR plan needs to cater for as many eventualities as you can think of. But there is also the need to manage that in small chunks otherwise you will never be ready for the disaster when it strikes.

Heard about this one. Few years ago a data center suffered a power outage. All was good as the generator kicked in. About an hour later the generator stopped too along with everything else in the DC. After some investigation it turns out that the fuel pump for the generator was on the mains supply rather than the generator…

Never had a doubt that the government agencies were spying on us. They’ve been trying to get more access without going through the legal processes for years.

It should be have made clear on the invitation that this competition is only open to residents of the USA and Canada. You only find out if you look at the terms and conditions. Thwack points might have been better - it suggests that my large European implementation is not relevant.
