Did you get any feedback on this? I am in the same boat and moving from 10.4.2 to 10.7 and wanted to know what to expect if possible

ahh too late...either way I included the instructions for anyone in the future to reference.

When you look at the map there should be a node on the map that represents the linked map. If you right click on that node and choose properties there will be a seperate window open that has a row of options on the the left starting with "Status->Metrics->Hyperlink->Appearence->Details" when you click on the "Status" the…

I just found this thread...this is something that I would find extremely useful. I even created a report that would tell me when nodes were added/removed or unmanaged so I could try and deduce who could have made the change based on recent change controls. This feature would be a great way for me to save that time. Please…

Done....Hope you guys sweep the awards in all the categories you listed.

Two options come to mind. The first option would be to right click on each object and see what dependency you have for the " This object gets its status from". You may be able to tie the depencies in a more logical order for your environment. The second option is to recreate your map using the following logic: I created a…

Can you place a link to A for child B and a seperate link to A for Child C? You may have to use two seperate nodes to do this but that should allow you to show "A" as an alert using either B or C. If you have A,B,and C all linked together simply remove the link from B and C and you should be good to go.

This is an awesome write up. This also really saved the day for me. Thank you for taking the time and effort to create this.

I have the Engineers toolset which adds a ribbon bar to the top of the page for the Node Details view. This also includes a HTML, SSH, Telnet, PING, Tracerout, and RDP option. This is not as granular as some the tasks that SCOM would have that are tied to the individual servers monitored there but its an option.

For what its worth I went through the upgrade today and it was painless. I have no custom property errors that I can tell so far. Was there a specific view you were seeing this? I am looking at the "manage nodes" view and then sorting via custom properties it looks fine.

You got it,,,happy that it is working out for you.

I know you can use SQL Server Managment Studio to perform this function as well. It may be an alternate solution while they work out the details for the final release.

I totally understand just wanting to ask.

My account is a member of the Domain Admins group which allows me full access through inheritance. If you have a SQL admin you may need to consult with them and add the SolarWinds Admin account or whatever account your using to perform this action to one (or all) of the following groups "SQLServerMSSQLUser",…

Uclegio: Can you send me the format for your HP Service Center ticketing system or maybe post it?

Tomaz and Mav thank you both for the response. I was certain I was just being dense and not seeing a simple setting. Turns out it appears that the other devices were missing the SNMP configuration needed. I am not seeing the machine type but I will get poll them using the OID listed above and see what I get. Again thank…

I have what may be a simple question. I have intergrated the Orion Management pack vs 1.1.1 and before I set this override as descirbed I am seeing a lot of "notification" alerts that seem to be based on the "warning" alerts that Orion sends. If I set the override you described will this effect "critical" alerts from…

Thank you for your addition to the comment thread. I have some of the same concerns with regards to where I stand with tools. I am an employee of my company not a cheerleader etc for a vendor. What I see in my environment is 1600 devices (300 cisco and remainder UNIX/AIX/LINUX/Windows) they are pretty simple with what they…

The resource have been working fine with the custom prop´s i have (i changed the resource not to include comments and…

All you should have to do is select the Orion product from the Add/Remove programs applet and it will uninstall the program. There should be no need for a registry hack etc...

I have the same request...I just implemented the management pack and all the events that are written in Orion are showing up as "informational" in SCOM. This would be extremely useful. Were you able to quiet down the "noise" in your environment? if so please share it would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried performing a maintenance options like "Shrink" on the database? These are available from the SQL server management studio on the database server for your solarwinds environment. Once you login and expand the databases section simply right click on the database (SolarWindsOrion is the default name) and choose…

Any idea on timeframe for a release?

From the error there seems to be a missing node id of "947". Do this to look for the missing node open up a node details view of a node in your Orion environment. Look at the end of the URL there is a "NXXXX" the "XXX" is the node ID. Simply put the 947 in place of the "XXX" and see what you get. Example:…

Option to suppress alerts for patch maintenance would be nice. Currently we are using 10.7 with the advanced alerts not the alert manager tool so don't know if its an option there. It would be nice to still gather events and status while machines are in a planned maintenance mode but simply not alert. This keeps historical…
