addendum to b - re: "box is NOT connected to the Internet" - You can manually register the key online.. If you have difficulty, please give us a call.

a - If you have active maintenance, you should already have a V9 license available... I recommend 8.5.1 SP3 before doing the upgrade to v9.1 (latest SP5) b - I do not recommend installing an eval version on top of a licensed product. There are countless threads on this forum detailing the upgrade successess from 8.5 to 9.1…

This will also occur if you've upgraded NCM to 5.5 and run the NPM/NCM integration tool prior to upgrading to NPM 9.5 If that happens, simply uninstall the NCM Plugins from add/remove programs - then run the NPM 9.5 installer. Once completed with 9.5 - re-run the integration tool.

Vinod, First I recommend getting a DBA to review your situation. If you do not have a DBA then the directions below should help. .LDF file grows out of control: 1.) Make sure recovery model is set for simple and not full 2.) Shrink the database 3.) Backup the database, this will mark the data in the transaction logs as…

Rmmagow, Shoot me an email at david.byrd@solarwinds.com Thanks, David

Enginseer, Seems as though you already have the disk full alerts configured... I'd simply go into each one and define the maintenance window in the time of day field... Is that not an option?
-
I assume you have connectivity to this new network - have you tried running the discovery tool?

So you can see several interface errors/discards on one chart.... What you would want to add to the view is a "Multiple Custom Object Resource" You would then be able to select multiple interfaces; as well as what you would like to represent on the chart (i.e. errors and discards) (You could have several "Multiple Object…

Greg, Are you familiar with the "Manage Polling Engines" program? Typically located - Start à All Programs à SolarWinds Orion à Advanced Features à Monitor Polling Engines Hope this helps, David
-
This is more than likely attributed to NetBIOS This is due to the behavior of Windows servers that use NetBIOS (as well as DNS) to resolve IP addresses to names using the "gethostbyaddr()" function. This shouldn't be too big of a concern for you.

Walt, There is no current way to change the status of a node based on syslog messages.
-
You would need to use the expressions - like Node name is equal to * to apply to all... it's a bit more intensive, but obviously more advanced.
-
I've confirmed this to be a bug - even in the latest release SP1 of 9.1 - I'm giving it to dev - and hopefully will have a fix in the next release or two. Thanks, DB
-
What version of NPM are you running? And please post the Support Ticket number if you've opened one.
-
Location is one of the predefined custom properties. If you open up the Custom Property Editor in the system manager and click on Nodes - it will show you a list of all the properties... If you want to assign a particular node or group of nodes to include that property - this is where it would be done. HTH

Yes, it's about as simple as that. There are some users who have posted issues here: Good luck, and if you have any problems, please don't hesitate to post here or contact Solarwinds support. Thanks!
-
Not that I'm aware of... However, if Type A and B facilities are Nodes - then you can create a custom property called Type A, and one called Type B - and then sort in the Node Tree by the custom property - to help you delineate between the nodes... HTH, David

As most of you have already determined - this will happen from time to time - and it usually depends on the number of elements being polled; as the initial process was waiting for the polling interval to complete (sometimes taking a very long time, but way too long for many of the "unpatient users" including myself...…

Menz, We have made significant progress in Account Limitations across the board... Since you are running a very old version of NPM (We now have 9.5 SP5 available in your customer portal if you have active maintenance) If you would like to open a case; I can help you upgrade and check your limitations. Please reference this…
-
Madhatter - This one is definitely not for speculation on this forum - Please open a case online and ask that it be assigned to me. I would be glad to help you resolve this issue. Thanks, David
-
I encourage you to open a support ticket so that we can get the full error, plus diagnostics if necessary. Thanks, David
-
I'm almost positive that this is by design... Map Maker, Orion Report Writer, etc are all managed from the main Orion Server. I'll double-check in the morning. HTH, David
-
Open up the "Monitor Polling Engines" tool located in the Advanced folder in All Programs -> SolarWinds Orion Click on Poller Load Balancing icon (or use the menu) Highlight all of your nodes (you will notice they have the old hostname) ((Click the first... scroll to the bottom, hit shift and click the last to highlight…

I suggest upgrading in place, and then perform the migration... If you open up a case we can assist you. Thanks, David
-
What is your case number please?
-
This might be easier to address via a support ticket where we can see your environment and assist you with your ultimate goal.
-
Being worked in support - Will post a resolution when it becomes available....
-
What version are you using?
-
I re-read your post - and I am indeed sleepy. I'll check on this in the morning and see if there's an easier way... Thanks,
-
I don't have my test bed in front of me right now, but I'm pretty sure you can go to the UnDP program, select the Poller, and then select nodes to apply it to... Or I could just be sleepy... HTH,
