If the same audience would receive a volume alert as would receive a CPU alert (no situation where one audience expects email on server XYZ CPU but a different audience needs email for volume on server XYZ), I would leave groups out altogether and handle via custom property. Create custom property (node custom property and…

Can you add two conditions--1) volume type contains 'Fixed' 2) volume type contains 'Disk'. I'm on NPM 10.7 so I can't verify the ability to use 'contains' where you have 'is equal to'.

Logically I would tend to agree with you. There have been a few times where I hit weird issues just like this and did a quick SWQL query resource, saw what I expected, and moved on to another issue. Not ideal if you never find out why/ how to prevent/ where else might it be happening. I guess that's why I was questioning…

Glad that worked for you.

Regarding that link, I have done those same steps via a support case for the same symptoms. In my case, huge files were getting created (sdf or ldf files). Might be useful in your case. Do you have paid support options?

I've had duplicate nodes on accident before. Perhaps you could force the issue of a duplicate node and then unmanage (with an ending date as many years/ decades out as you like) the original node.

If trap exists for this, that would be ideal. If ecfrs can supply vendor SNMP info or can SNMPwalk the device, it may be that there is a MIB for the standby/ active role.
-
It would be cool if hovering allowed one to assess whether polling data was recent. Or if the status icon blinked (no hovering required there). Or had text 'check SNMP' or 'check WMI' if metrics polling not successful.

pratikmehta003, did polling by hostname work for you (steps 1&2...the link above)?

Would the DTS package serve any purpose if I want to monitor the same devices with the same credentials and have the same views but do not care about historical data in a new SolarWinds deployment?
-
Have any customers reported feedback on this DTS package and their results?

Are you entering username in format domain\username? Do you see this account in the Accounts table in the database? I ask because for a similar issue, I resolved by deleting the particular account's row in the database table and fixed that issue. Probably not something you'll find SolarWinds support agreeing with, but it…

Thank you.

Might want to post similar question in SAM forum. Everything I could think of to assist was SAM-oriented.

Following up on that thread I created. What I have been doing is getting a system administrator with enough account permissions to remove his/her CAC requirement and use username and password to search for the user in question. A user with enough permissions or a service account with enough permissions is used to query for…

So filtering in SWQL can be done like this: Use SolarWinds Query Language (SWQL - SWIS) - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help and Support Wildcards The wildcard character in SWQL syntax is: %. If the report query referenced custom property start date and custom property end date, then dates could be adjusted outside of the report.

Jiri Cvachovec how many points did I earn yesterday via our call? I hope discussing my cases with you didn't cost me any points .

Jiri Cvachovec I would like to participate, if I haven't already missed my chance. I realize this is an older thread.

If SNMP walk to that device works, you'll see results for each of these. You then have a likelihood that NPM can get the same information via its query. You should also see the OID for each, in case you don't already know the OID mapping for whatever MIBs might represent CPU / memory; Neighbors; LLDP Protocol; Table…

Does this report include poller transforms as well? I haven't yet determined a way to display my transforms in my reports. I believe I've alerted on transforms before, but at the moment am trying to show transforms in a report.

Making the custom properties mandatory can help. Since we're discussing naming conventions, my last employer had names that told you geography/ type of device/ and cadency (1/2/3/4). Since the name (DNS as well as hostname) indicated that information, I killed off all maps (never made them when implementing replacement…

Agreed. I figured if he can list resources, troubleshooting steps would be different than they would be if he could not list resources. tigger2, can you list resources? Have you created a Universal Device Poller yet? Any logs on the monitored device? The IronMails I used to monitor would never successfully respond when the…

salating, I've shared your suggestions and this thread URL in my support case. We'll see where that goes. Initial findings from discussing with my sysadmin coworkers indicate that perhaps a domain service account will require creation for these efforts. Evidently a local account created by me on my server inherently…
